I'm a HUGE fan. I don't even view them as a band but as a legacy because they started my passion for music, any fans out there?
If you haven't checked out the new CD, Liebe ist fuer alle da, you need to because it is amazing and even more controversial than anything they've done before.
-
Awesome band. With their new CD, they became even better.
-
I've always been interested in them, but haven't heard anything aside from their more well-known songs. My stepdad has a few of their CDs laying around, I'll give 'em a try sometime.
-
Good songs to check out are (I'll try to do one for each CD):
1. Waidmanns Heil (Liebe ist fuer alle da)
2. Benzin (Rosenrot is a CD with mostly leftovers from Reise, Reise but still some good songs)
3. Reise, Reise
4. Sonne/Ich Will, both are great
5. Bueck Dich (the live performance is mind blowing)
6. Asche zu Asche
-
If you haven't seen it you should definitely watch their music video for Mann Gegen Mann. You have to watch the whole thing though.
-
Yeah they are for sure an awesome band. Can't wait to see them in July !
-
Yeah they are for sure an awesome band. Can't wait to see them in July !
Hell yeah. Hopefully I'm gonna be there too!
-
It's crazy because there's gonna be people from all over America at this show. The promoters must be proud of themselves :lol
-
If you haven't seen it you should definitely watch their music video for Mann Gegen Mann. You have to watch the whole thing though.
No. Just no :lol
-

No. Just no :lol
Seconded. They have much better videos out there, e.g. Sonne, Du Hast, Keine Lust, and that one about, um, cats.
-
I like them a lot. Not a huge fan, but I've dug just about everything I've heard. My favorite tracks are Tier and their self-titled cut. Very Sabbathy.
-
Amazing band. I've seen them this year, and it was mindblowing. Their last album brought me back to being a fan after a couple of years of losing interest in them. Favorites: Mein teil, Spieluhr, Sonne, Bestrafe mich, Du hast, Waidmann's heil...
-
Big fan here, my favorite albums are the first four. I also like their latest DVD Völkerball very much, it has so much energy, great quality (both video & sound), good set list (favorite is Los, it has such a great vibe and its one of my favorite riffs of theirs) and hell of a performance. Favorite songs are Asche zu Asche, Du riechst so gut, Heirate mich, Herzeleid, Rammstein, Tier, Du Hast, Bestrafe mich, Mein Herz brennt, Links 2-3-4, Zwitter, Ich Will, Feuer frei!, Mutter, Sonne, Reise, Reise, Los, Amerika, Mein Teil, Benzin, Mann gegen Mann, Rosenrot, Rammlied and Mehr.
-
Pretty good band, I enjoy a few tracks. Favourites include: Engel, Seemann, Rammstein, Sehnsucht, Links 2-3-4, Mein Teil, and Ohne Dich. Their live DVD Live Aus Berlin is great.
-
No one's mentioned the video for Pussy yet?
Haha.
I like them. Mein Teil is a cool song. Bands with no lineup changes FTW.
-
No one's mentioned the video for Pussy yet?
I have no idea what the big deal over that video is. The people throwing a fit are either prude virgins or have never watched porn.
-

Oh, I agree. It's no worse than any porn video you could find on the internet. I just remember the big deal being that Pussy is apparently the first music video ever to include visible ejaculation.
-
Awesome band, so many good riffs. Want to see them live one day.
-
seeing them live in a few weeks
:metal :metal
Live Aus Berlin is a great record
-
Screw all of you that are seeing them in a few weeks. Hopefully what I'm hearing is true and that America will see them this year in a few cities.
-
Extreme bump.
Saw them on saturday at sonisphere festival. Best live band I have ever seen. They were too epic.
-
saw them on the Rock Werchter festival in Belgium couple of weeks ago.
they were :metal
-
Sehr gut band, Ich bin ein fan :lol
-
Ich liebe Rammstein.
-
Rammstein annouce first US show in 10 years.
https://www.rammstein.de/blog/lang/en/
-
Hopefully, with connections, I might be able to get on the guest list :metal
-
I'm hoping for a DVD-shoot!
-
One should take place and if not at MSG, in Mexico.
-
There are rumors they're coming back to North America in 2011, might that mean a full scale leg or just a one off show?
-
I'm actually giving some thought to going and seeing one of the shows. Strange, since I'm mostly indifferent to their music, but it seems like the sort of thing I'd really enjoy. It seems like there's a DTF crew hitting Chicago, but honestly, I really have no desire to go to Illinois. LA seems like a logical choice, I usually have a good time out there, but it seems like that's where I always go. I'm wanting to get to NYC at some point, but can't afford it now and really want to go in the Winter, anyway. Hard to figure out what I want to do with their very limited options.
Fucking Germans.
-
I'm one of the chosen few for the Chicago show. It will rule.
Good songs to check out are (I'll try to do one for each CD):
1. Waidmanns Heil (Liebe ist fuer alle da)
2. Benzin (Rosenrot is a CD with mostly leftovers from Reise, Reise but still some good songs)
3. Reise, Reise
4. Sonne/Ich Will, both are great
5. Buck Dich (the live performance is mind blowing)
6. Asche zu Asche
FTFY
and
You're missing:
1. Feuer Frei (Open Fire!)
2. Mein Herz Brent (My Heart Burns)
3. Rammstein (Ramming Stone)
4. Mutter (Mother)
5. Seeman (Seaman)
6. Engel (Angel)
and
7. Ohne Dich (Without You)[I cried during the video]
Edit: Fix'd No. 2 Translation
-
It's Fire Freely btw (German version of "Fire at Will")
Ohne Dich is great, I enjoy Rosenrot a lot but Reise, Reise is totally superiour.
I haven't gotten the latest album yet.
-
LIFAD is the best, you need it.
-
^ This. LIFAD is great.
And thanks for the correction on Feuer Frei, metty. I don't know German.
-
Anytime, I'm currently learning it :)
LIFAD is the best, you need it.
I'm looking forward to it but I'm currently giving Herzeleid and Sehnsucht a few spins, frankly I never gave them a chance before since Mutter was the breakthrough album I assumed anything that came before it wasn't up to the standard, I was dead wrong, they're not as good as the 00's albums but they have some great moments.
-
Does anyone else find every word Till utters in English hilarious sounding?
My SMS tone is "Come with me into the trees" :lol
-
INTU DE TWEES. Yeah, it's embarrassing. Not as bad as Yuu, Yuu hate me.
-
Which song has the whistling in the beginning?
-
Never mind, it's Engel.
-
Never mind, it's Engel.
My favourite Rammstein song.
-
gonna see them next thursday, i can't wait!
-
INTU DE TWEES. Yeah, it's embarrassing. Not as bad as Yuu, Yuu hate me.
Not nearly as bad as the English version of Amerika, that one cracks me up like nothing else

NO I WON'T
-
Album ranking time?
1. Mutter
2. Sehnsucht
3. LIFAD
4. Reise, Reise
5. Herzeleid
6. Rosenrot
-
1. Mutter
2. Reise, Reise
3. Rosenrot
4. LIFAD
5. Sehnsucht
6. Herzeleid
LIFAD is still fairly new to me but I already like it better than Sehnsucht and Herzeleid.
-
Never mind, it's Engel.
My favourite Rammstein song.
that's the song that got me into R+ way back when it was in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (one of very few good things about that movie). the extended version is just awesome.
i've been listening the shit out of Sehnsucht lately, despite it being one of my least favourite Rammstein albums. when its songs are good, they're fantastic; but when the songs are filler, it's pretty transparent. also, the production is very... clinical, machine-like, which fits the album art and the band sound in general, but makes for a pretty goddamn dry listen compared to how much they improved it with Mutter, Reise Reise, and now LIFAD.
-
I'll just say now that some of the alternate covers for Sehnsucht are fucking TERRIFYING.
-
1. Mutter
2. Reise, Reise
3. Rosenrot
4. LIFAD
5. Sehnsucht
6. Herzeleid
Switch 3 and 4, that's how I'd rank the albums.
-
But Rosenrot has the best song ever written by a human being!
-
But Rosenrot has the best song ever written by a human being!
Mann gegen Mann?
-
Te quiero puta!
-
Te quiero puta!
How did I know you were going to say that?
-
Te quiero puta!
How did I know you were going to say that?
Well you obviously have the rare special edition of Genius Book of World Records: Best Things Ever, I have it too that's how I made sure Te Quiero Puta is the best song ever.
btw fellas LIFAD is not growing on me, by far Rosenrot had more good songs.
-
A 2012 American tour is rumored to be announced with the release of the new compilation album, let's keep each other updated if there was new announcements in case the others are not paying attention.
-
21 dates in May.
-
For the U.S? it's not confirmed as far their official website is concerned..
-
It isn't confirmed :) The offer was 21 dates, whether they took it or not, I don't know.
-
How do you know these things dude? and did any of the dates include somewhere in Texas?
-
I have a friend in the media. I didn't see the dates.
-
That's cool, thanks for the info though! Now there's hope :)
I kinda cannot find people to talk about Rammestien cause I haven't bothered to search for a good message boards of their's yet.
LIFAD took a couple of weeks to grow on me. The title track is my favorite. Pussy is so lame, even as a joke.
-
DarkEternalNight Any news on release date or track list of Made in Germany? Or about the U.S tour?
-
I am happy to say that I am now finally getting into Rammstein. I just picked up Sehnsucht and its totally bitchin.
all i can say now is that:
I MUST see them live.
-
They really put on a great show. Let us know how you like other albums. :tup
Also, Mein Land is an OK song, but the video is just hilarious. :lol
-
Best production on stage... :tup Flake is the man
-
I have Reise, Reise, and it has many great songs like the title song (intro :heart), Mein Teil, Dalai-lama (my favourite off album), Amerika and Los.
So Mutter is even better?
-
I can't believe my eyes! I don't have to keep talking to myself in this thread anymore. Thank you Santa!
So Mutter is even better?
Mutter is just one level above Reise Reise in my book. As amazing as Reise Reise is of course. If you haven't listened to Mutter yet then do yourself a favor and listen as soon as possible :)
Also, Mein Land is an OK song, but the video is just hilarious. :lol
I actually thought Mein Land was better than anything on LIFAD. Most solid ass kicking riff in a long time and the vocal melodies are tough and aggressive yet the verses keeps it funny and light. Pure Till genius on that one.
I MUST see them live.
Best production on stage...
They really put on a great show.

That's very true, there's a European tour pretty much every year. A friend of mine saw them live a couple of weeks ago - I was thinking about joining him, but I had some very important exams, so I guess I'll be luckier next time around.
-
I can't believe my eyes! I don't have to keep talking to myself in this thread anymore. Thank you Santa!
lol :) :tup
-
I can't wait for the Chicago date!! At least this time it's not on my sister's birthday. THED6 reporting for rockduty.
-
They really put on a great show. Let us know how you like other albums. :tup
Also, Mein Land is an OK song, but the video is just hilarious. :lol
That video for Mein Land may be my favorite music video of the past 10 years. Just utterly brilliant and funny as hell. :lol
-
The Mein Land video is hilarious, it's true. Unfortunately, I was so stunned by what was going on that I don't think I really listened to the song. :lol
Love this band, though. Till's voice is so suited to the music and he's one of my absolute favourite singers. And their employment of strings is just a masterclass.
-
So Mutter is even better?
Mutter is just one level above Reise Reise in my book. As amazing as Reise Reise is of course. If you haven't listened to Mutter yet then do yourself a favor and listen as soon as possible :)
OK.
I have liked the band since I saw Amerika video, which was in a heavy airplay in Finland when the single was released. It's so great, the band playing in the Moon, flipper at the guitar solo... just amazing!
-
So I just got my 2nd Rammstein album, Reise Reise and I must say that this thing is incredible. :metal
Its got a fantastic flow and has a great balance of diversification.
-
Cannot wait for the show in Chicago.....the one this year was amazing, and I'm sure this one will either match it or be better.
-
So I just got my 2nd Rammstein album, Reise Reise and I must say that this thing is incredible. :metal
Its got a fantastic flow and has a great balance of diversification.
True that! ^
A lot I wanna discuss with you guys. I think there are 4 equally important aspects what makes Rammstein brilliant:
1. The music.
2. The music videos.
3. The live performance.
4. The lyrics.
Unlike any other band I like; Rammstein puts so creativity in all these aspects, normally for most bands one or two of these aspects are created within the same process and are integral part of the full picture but with Rammstein each of these aspects takes on a life of it's own and is individually crafted.
Let's talk about number 2 for a second, what's everybody's top 3 Rammstien videos? If you haven't seen them all you're missing out btw, I can post the youtube links if anyone wants it.

Fixed that for you :) I think the best videos are Ich Will, Mann Gegen Mann and Mein Teil. Like, back when they actually tried to make well-made videos and songs and not just make something explicit for the sake of explicitness *cough* Pussy *cough*.
-

It's not for the sake of explicitness although I understand why it might seem so. The album Liebe ist für alle da has an all over theme of perversion in love and sex, they even left some songs out of the main CD cause they didn't have the same theme and released them on an extra CD. The video for Pussy represented the whole album in it's clips. I can agree it was a bad choice of song cause the lyrics are awful as every other song Rammstien try to force English onto.
I would have shot a video for the title song itself, the lyrics are disturbing but would make a cool and funny video idea.
-
Just got my tickets for the Philly show.
This is going to be the concert of a lifetime :metal :metal :metal
-
I got Houston and San Antonio and waiting on Dallas :D
-
Chicago sounding off along wiht FTBD71111

Just got back from seeing Rammstein in Manchester... What a show! Im almost speechless.
I could try and explain how good it was but I just couldnt put it into words.
For those who have tickets to see this tour, you are in for a treat, probably the best show ive seen in 20 years!

U.S. Tour kicked off last night in Florida:
Setlist:
Sonne
Wollt Ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen
Keine Lust
Sehnsucht
Asche zu Asche
Feuer Frei
Mutter
Mein Teil
Du riechst so gut
Links 2-3-4
Du hast
Haifisch
Bück dich
Mann gegen Mann
Ohne dich
Mein Herz brennt
Amerika
Ich will
Engel
Pussy
I was hoping they'd play Mein Land instead of Bück dich or Sehnsucht.
-
Was there an opening band?
-
According to the guy who reported the set list on the fan club for it was "Joe Letz (Combichrist / Black Lights Burn) with a DJ set (Rammstein remix)." Doesn't sound interesting.
-
Bück dich
Everyone else is thinking it. I'll just say it.
Did they pull out the prosthetic whozuwuzzit?
-
Nobody said anything about that yet :lol
You know what happened with Russia a few month ago https://rt.com/politics/petersburg-rammstein-bill-homosexuality-519/
-
That's a pretty awesome set list. Too bad they went with Haifish, there are songs on their last album that are much better.
-
I freakin love Haifisch. I'd love to see other LIFAD songs but I love that they play Haifisch.
-
Mein Herz Brennt. Sonne. Haifisch. Amerika. Ohne Dich.
I rest my case, thank you.
-
A review (https://skitsosquirrel.tumblr.com/post/21486270020/just-got-back-from-rammstein-sad-news-about-buck) on Florida show.
I’m really sorry but I hate to break it to everyone. Bück Dich is on the set list, HOWEVER, they changed it. There is no dildo. Till has a tiny strap on on his head instead and when Flake is supposed to bend over and Till starts humping him, Till leads an S&M girl on stage instead and she sits on him and starts to whip him with a riding crop. Absolutely no humping or dildos.
I'm not as broken about it as that guy is, it's the only Rammstein stage stunt that never amused me.
Mein Herz Brennt. Sonne. Haifisch. Amerika. Ohne Dich.
I rest my case, thank you.
You're set :)

Rammstein....I got to tell you guys, at first I had a LOT of issues with this band.
You see, as a european, from the Netherlands, any German band/artist always had a little weird connotation with me. Historically, our countries didn't have the greatest historic past (and that's putting it mildly) so when I first watched a bit of one of their live performance, (this was late nineties, mind you, an not all that long after the events at Ramstein, the illfated airshow accident which gave this band it's name), I was, at least a bit miffed at seeing how they portrayed a burning man on stage. I think, at the time, I just found it all a bit in poor taste, I must say.
Also, the singing in (rather Teutonic, at that) the German language has always felt very...wrong, somehow, to me, again, on the other hand, I never had any problems with listening to Schlager-music (folksongs/popular music) for some strange reason. Udo Jurgens's 'Du' being one of my favorite songs for ever.
Then a (then) girlfriend of mine bought their first two albums and I started listening to their songs a bit more, trying to look further then the first impressions and trying to put aside my personal disstastes for the language and really, REALLY, listen.
I must say, I was rather impressed with their songs. It also became clear pretty quick that there was more than a bit of 'self-parodying' going on here. I still think a lot of people still don't catch that side of them, though. But come on, 'Du riechts so gut', 'Buck dich', 'Dus hast mich'? Listen to the lyrics and you can't do anything other than at least smirk. And the beats are so damn cathy, it's damn hard to sit still.
Then I watched a bit of 'Live at Berlin' and I was fucking blown away by their show and their live sound.
Also, their videoclips were pretty well done and almost always 'tongue-in-cheek'.
So, you'll understand, I had a lot to overcome before I started liking their music, but I've come around pretty damn quick over the lasst couple of years.
Now I just think they're a pretty good band with a great show, but I also think they haven't captured the level of those first two or three albums, maybe even got a little more 'commercial', if you can put a label like that on their music. (there's still always some country banning their album cover art or something).
So yeah, RAMSSTEIN!!!! :metal
-
Just 3 more days till the show. I can't wait. :metal
-
No words can describe the show I just saw. I was left speechless multiple times and the setlist was excellent.
Bravo Rammstein :metal
-
If this was the Philly show, a friend of mine was there.
-
If this was the Philly show, a friend of mine was there.
It was the Philly show and I'm very curious to know your friend's opinion of the concert, because I am still speechless as of 7 hours later.
and I must say, I think the Keyboardist is the real star of the show. He takes all the abuse, but still comes out on top.
-
Phoenix87x Glad to hear you had a good time!

Unless you're over 70 years old; I'll chose to believe you're talking about soccer, to which I would agree :lol
I'm different there. I'm currently studying the German language and I find to be the most expressive language I've ever heard, it flows with power and confidence to me. And the way Till Lindemann sings and writes his poetry adds even more depth to the experience and fully utilizes the strength of German phonetics.
Yet modern German pop/pop rock music -80's onward- sound so awful to me, it's almost as repulsive as listening to any given Asian native sing pop tunes in English, that bad heh
Also, their videoclips were pretty well done and almost always 'tongue-in-cheek'.
Cannot disagree there, they put as much work into their music videos as they do the albums themselves, they deal with the videos as an independent and equally valid work of art, I love that.
If this was the Philly show, a friend of mine was there.

Speaking of abuse, I'm surprised at the number of people who don't know that the part where Schneider is dressed like a woman and leads the rest of the band on their hands and feet, is from the video for Mein Teil (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=miqNMeWfPOY#t=219s). Even a couple of newbies at the fan club forum didn't know :o
-
Fyi Cyclops, as a German I share the same reservations about them as you do, and I'm pretty sure a lot of other Germans do. Their vocals, the imagery, it's all awfully close to something Germans rather try to stay away from.
The live concert was still excellent though in terms of show, and in the end I just took it about the same as I would take a Kraftwerk concert.

Glad this whole thing didn't prevent you guys from enjoying Rammstein :tup

Fyi Cyclops, as a German I share the same reservations about them as you do, and I'm pretty sure a lot of other Germans do. Their vocals, the imagery, it's all awfully close to something Germans rather try to stay away from.
The live concert was still excellent though in terms of show, and in the end I just took it about the same as I would take a Kraftwerk concert.
rumborak
They don't get it nearly as bad as Bohse Onkelz apparently did. I love the song Onkelz 2000

FYI, Progmetty, I´m not that old, but old enough to have spoken to people who did actually live through the second world war.
The soccer was just a part of it... ;D
-
Fair enough, as long as you admit the soccer part heh

That was quite possibly the best sounding cowbell I've ever heard at a concert.

Completely forgot about Dallas! Barto did you get good seats?
-
Completely forgot about Dallas! Barto did you get good seats?
Yeah, great seats, and quite a bit below face value. After fees, paid about $80 for two 3rd row lowers. I'm not into their music enough to have paid full price, but it was certainly worth $40.
-
Cool :)
Pre party tonight, SA concert tomorrow, Houston the day after.
Going with the fans I met online 9 am to get front line, gonna be a tough day.
-
I can give you a heads up that there's no gap between the opening act (a DJ dude) and Rammstein coming out. He's playing right up to the point where they come out to the satellite stage. We missed the first minute or two of their entrance because of that.
-
I know I'll have to see this dirt bag's face unfortunately.
-
Don't know if he's a dirtbag or not. What I will say is that Rammstein's set started promptly at 9, and I believe his ended with Engel, so you shouldn't have too much trouble getting to your seat 5 minutes before go-time. And to be fair, I've never actually seen such a thing happen, so it'd probably be very much worth seeing the transition.
-
Oh Barto, you paint such a beautiful picture! I have no seats, I'm GA, I'm leaving home at 7 am to be in the front line, it's gonna be a nightmare of day but it's all worth it for Rammstein.
And I confirm; the DJ guy is a dirt bag, I can give you details as to why and how I know.
I just got back from the pre-party organized by fans in down town San Antonio, we enjoyed Rammstein music together and sang along, it was fun. They rented the whole bar just for this and they were showing videos and playing music.
And a little more than 2 years living in the U.S. I still get scared shitless when a weird looking high/drunk guy approach me on the street for a quarter. It thankfully doesn't show on my face but in my head I'm preparing to die heh, we didn't have those in Egypt so I didn't get any training.
-
A: panhandlers have enough trouble as it is. The last thing any of them want is to have to fight anybody. They're surprisingly docile, even if they don't seem that way at first.
B: you're a fucking giant. Learn to look more imposing. You'll never have any issue at all.
If you're at the very front, it'll be pretty hot for the first couple of songs. Also, 30' jets of flaming propane are surprisingly explosive; it'll take a couple of blasts before you get used to it*. Thankfully, by the third song or so they're blasting CO2 out of those jets and it'll cool things down nicely. After that it was fairly pleasant in there.
*When I was subjected to those things at close range a few years ago, I checked my hair and eyebrows every time they went off because I was convinced they were singed.
-
I fucking LOVE Rammstein, they were like the first band that I would actively hear (I mean like put the CDs in on my own, not radio and stuff), along with Die Ärzte, another german band, though you can't compare the two at all...
Anyway, back on topic, I love Rammstein, though I find some things that they do (the humping on stage during Bück Dich, the video to Pussy...) to be solely provacative for the sake of provocativeness, which is an aspect that I don't like. However, Rammstein's music that doesn't fall into that category is awesome, nearly all of it. Some of the lyrics are too flat (for example Amerika) but that's rare - all in all, they're great.
My favorite songs are all of Mutter (except for Rein Raus), Feuer und Wasser, Nebel, Alter Mann, Morgenstern and Donaukinder (which is on the LIFAD bonus CD) - those that don't know these track, check'em out. You're missing on something truly great.
Fun fact: the choir that my mother sings in does the choir backing vocals on Reise, Reise (especially Morgenstern) and LIFAD - she got a free copy for that.

7am to 7pm in line, front row barricade, lost voice, dead tired, met cool people, tomorrow same story Houston, more details after I get back hopefully.
Truly a blast.
-
Me jelly. Rammstein never come here, and when they come to Dresden (my home town) I'm at boarding school.
-

Truly a blast.
Those gas jets are fun, aren't they. When you're close enough, and you should have been, it feels like they're blasting your face off. I described it to a friend as like sticking your head out the window of a card driving 150mph on a 200° summer day. Good times.
-
Barto you're absolutely right! And at the front row -which I had at both shows- the flames were beautifully painful at some points, it would stop a moment after I start to feel the burn getting unbearable, well thought out.
Visually and in the context it was beautiful and stunning.

I met with the online fan club forum people and some others who showed up to stand in line around 8 or 9 am, the day was incredibly fun as they were also long time fans and very cool company.
One of them had made that flag which is basically the Rammstein RT logo where the lone star would be, nicely made (Click to enlarge)
(https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Met-Fan/th_537501_10150917424624419_1482425112_n-1.jpg) (https://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Met-Fan/?action=view¤t=537501_10150917424624419_1482425112_n-1.jpg)

Before the encore Paul Landers (guitarist) had made several eye contacts with us and we knew he saw the flag but when he ran down to sign it we were still too struck by how nice and cool that was, here it is after the show:
(https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Met-Fan/th_576900_2803385022552_1796420164_1614700_879462959_n.jpg) (https://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Met-Fan/?action=view¤t=576900_2803385022552_1796420164_1614700_879462959_n.jpg)
I can't think of highlights of the show cause the whole set was amazing, I will never forget a moment of it.
I sang every word and headbanged so hard I couldn't move my neck after words.
In Links 2, 3, 4 my friends remarked that could hear my singing as loud as the band, that was awesome hehe
I drove the next day 4 hours to Houston, no voice and entire body aching from the struggle of remaining at the front row through the show from the night before, it was so much harder in San Antonio cause a bunch of people right behind us were really trying to break through to the front and we had to spend most of the concert positively spending energy just to keep them from it.
In Houston I had my digital camera with me so I took a few snaps:
(https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Met-Fan/th_SAM_0880.jpg) (https://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Met-Fan/?action=view¤t=SAM_0880.jpg)
Bigger crowd in Houston, this was taken about 15 minutes after the door were opened, the entire venue was packed by the time Rammstein hit the stage. Front row again
(https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Met-Fan/th_SAM_0885-1.jpg) (https://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v140/Met-Fan/?action=view¤t=SAM_0885-1.jpg)

Energy drained; I probably wasn't as loud as I was on the San Antonio show and my neck couldn't move as rapidly but still, it was just as much fun!
I hate filming or taking pictures at a concert, my take is that someone else is doing it so I'll just check their uploads out on youtube. But this was the second concert in a row and I thought okay maybe I'll take a few shots since I know when exactly is the best time to kick back and do it. So I used my digital camera to take a full video of Feuer Frei and Mein Teil and few stills during Engel.

At the Houston show there was a wall of big guys with their girlfriends behind us so they blocked most of the pushing and the pressure off me and I was more relaxed physically, I don't know if it was just luck but in both nights the people I paired with to hold front lines were as big as me and I loved hanging out with them.
During Keine Lust I was singing along and pointing at the people I met (most of them in the pictures) as I sang along Ich hätte Lust mit grossen Tieren, which means to be I like it with big animals :lol, a couple of people got it and laughed. I'm one myself and comfort among my own heh
All the people I met connected via facebook and shared all of the pics I posted here and more. I met people from here, Alaska, New York and Virginia, of various ages and races, the Alaskan guy is a native one, first time meeting one for me! Very nice and so damn friendly. He and his wife saw Rammstein 7 times on this U.S. tour, felt like a slacker when I heard that :lol
3 nights of unfiltered awesomeness, unforgettable.
There's so much more details so I might post more on the subject and about my close attempt to get into the after party and meet the band but this post is already verging on tldr.
Scorpion your views on Rammstein is very close to mine, I'll post a direct reply to your post soon and welcome to DTF :metal
-
Wow metty, that looks really cool. Did they do the stunt where one guy (was it the Flake or Oli? I always forget) takes out a rubber dinghy and travels across the crowd with it? That was always my favorite moment on the Völkerball DVD, along with Till cooking Flake during Mein Teil.
-

I agree, but for some reason a lot of people seem to be hung on these two or three incidents of blunt provocativeness and forgot about the amazing poetry and music in the rest of the discography.
My favorite songs are all of Mutter (except for Rein Raus), Feuer und Wasser, Nebel, Alter Mann, Morgenstern and Donaukinder (which is on the LIFAD bonus CD) - those that don't know these track, check'em out. You're missing on something truly great.
I love Mutter as well, it's my second favorite Rammstein album after Reise, Reise.
Morgenstern has always been a top 10 Rammstein song to me, every aspect of it is great and especially the lyrics which moves me every time.
Donaukinder is a good song, my favorite from that bonus CD.
Fun fact: the choir that my mother sings in does the choir backing vocals on Reise, Reise (especially Morgenstern) and LIFAD - she got a free copy for that.
That's so cool man! You might be able to spot her here (https://youtu.be/C-bVKa2WFoU), the first minute and half of that video (3rd part of Making of Reise Reise) is about the choir recording for the album and there are a few close ups on the choir members.
I wish the choir tracks were available, just Till singing with choir background and strings or keyboards. Would be so good.
Did they do the stunt where one guy (was it the Flake or Oli? I always forget) takes out a rubber dinghy and travels across the crowd with it? That was always my favorite moment on the Völkerball DVD, along with Till cooking Flake during Mein Teil.
The boat surfing gag used to be performed by Ollie with the rubber dinghy :lol , that used to be during the song Stripped on the Reise Tour. After that in the LIFAD and on tours; the boat surfing is performed by Flake during the song Haifisch. He passed over my head and I lifted the boat on the Houston show :)
On a side note I like all the interest the live performances has brought to them from a lot of people and although I share that great interest in live Rammstein; my main interest in Rammstein is the music itself, it's some of the most emotional, melodic, poetic and passionate music I ever heard.
-

Yeah, that's true, I love the music, but you have to admit that the live performances are a thing to behold as well. Of course, they would suck balls if Rammstein didn't have the music to back up a show like that, but they do, so everything's fine and dandy.
Concerning the emotional stuff: Rammstein certainly has many very emotional songs, though I think that they are getting overlooked sometimes, in favor of the songs that I already mentioned (the provocative ones). Nebel and Feuer und Wasser come to mind first, as well as Roter Sand, though that's way to cheesy.
-
Something I was curious about. Sometime around the 4th song or so (I don't know too many of them by name) there was a point where Flake was responsible for a fairly loud and obnoxious noise over the PA. Till went over, shook him a second and gave him a shove. I assume this was shtick, but you never know. Did this happen each night, or did we see something unusual? If so, what song?

:lol Happened at the Chicago show too, but I can't remember what song it was. If you're certain it was around that point of the show it was either Sehnsucht or Asche Zu Asche.
-
I think you're talking about the Feuer Frei keyboard solo gag shown here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=ulOScofQXns#t=100s) in a 2005 concert where Till pushs and knocks over Flake to stop the solo hehe
But on the Made in Germany tour (the one we saw) Flake is on the higher level next to the drums and Till just yells at him to stop the solo from below. Here it is from San Antonio (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=VhnrYN0tQ0c#t=87s).
Here it is from Dallas (https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=m5Jbgm_RDDo#t=85s), the guy who filmed that video had filmed most of the Dallas and San Antonio shows, he's one of the guys pictured with me above but I didn't find that out till recently cause he just took a picture with us and left. We connected through pictures last week on facebook and he might mail me a copy of his original files. I've done so with the San Antonio bootlegger as well (from the first video I posted), as he filmed the whole SA show in great quality.
-
Yup, that's it. Didn't strike me as a keyboard solo as much as a loud screeching. I didn't really notice sound, but my buddy found it very shrill and unpleasant. Different thresholds for upper frequencies, I suppose. Still, a funny gag.
-
:lol yeah, as "solo" as industrial music get.
-
Scorpion are you in Germany now?
-
Yeah... why?
-
This (https://www.rammstein.de/news/suddeutsche-zeitung-magazin-sonderheft-rammstein/) man, I'm trying to find someone to buy this magazine and send it to me if possible, of course I'll pay shipping.
-
I'll look into it, and let you know what I can do. I'll probably have to order it, 'cause I doubt that I can still find today's Süddeutsche Zeitung. I'll keep you updated, k?
Btw, do you think a Rammstein survivor would be a good idea? Or would it just be me, you and Barto? 'Cause that would get old quickly. :P
-
Thanks man, if you do find it make sure it's the one with the special edition about R+, cause it says it comes separate, I really hope it works cause I'm in one of the pictures in that report ;D
About the survivor: Barto is just in it for the fire works I think so it will probably be just me, you, Phoenix87x and fadetoblackdude, the last two guys make rare appearances on DTF so you can't count on them being around for votes always. I do wish we can have a survivor and I think it will be so much fun.
Sad part is that people who're too lazy to give a fuck about looking up R+ lyrics and get lost in the beauty of the poetry that is R+ lyrics we'll probably have 10 times more fans around here to participate in that survivor.
-
Alright, I'll see what I can do. I'll have to email my dad, 'cause I don't have a way of getting stuff online yet, so it might take one or two days until I can tell you anything.
About the survivor: You know what? I'll just start a fucking survivor, and we'll see how it goes. If it doesn't work, then okay, but I want to at least try that thing.
On my way to P/S, creating a survivor thread. See ya there!
EDIT: Survivor's up, make sure that you vote, Metty.
-
I did vote, hope it gets more participation :)
No offense Scorpion if I may say; this survivor announcement in your signature is the most German survivor announcement I ever saw in a signature :lol It sounds like an order hehe
-
Well, to be fair, I only copied what Elite did with his Haken survivor. What would you suggest?
"May I ask for a minute of your time, esteemed gentleman reading this, to express your opinion on the german band Rammstein in this survivor thread?"
Come to think of it, that doesn't sound too bad...
-
Now that will just make you sound French heh
Just kiddin, you're good ;D

Fuck yes!!! :metal :metal
-
I'm so excited, 2 R+ BluRay and a DT BluRay.
Surprisingly there a whole lot less bitching and whining about the R+ shows from their fans on their forums than we do about DT here hehe
-
Bump, because we really need someone to break the tie on the survivor. Come on! (https://www.dreamtheaterforums.org/boards/index.php?topic=34731.0)
-
Let me tell you what's been happening the last couple of weeks.
R+ finally announced the Mein Herz brennt single, details here (https://www.rammstein.de/mein-herz-brennt/). They released a new song on the single called Gib Mir Deine Augen, it's another LIFAD reject of which I heard a demo before, not a big fan with the polished version either but Scorpion that song should probably join non-album survivor.
But the single also features the Piano Version of Mein Herz brennt which is Till singing the song over a sole piano, it's pretty good.
R+ launched a website counting down to the release of Mein Hertz Brennt music video. They had shot two music videos for two different versions of the song, the other video is for the Piano Version.
The video for the piano version was released last week and can be viewed here (https://youtu.be/eL5hR5csyoc).
The video for the regular version -which they're calling Explicit- was released today and can be viewed here (https://www.mein-herz-brennt.com/).
They also announced this bad ass baby (https://www.rammstein.de/videos-1995-2012-bluray/) which I'll be getting in BluRay, hopefully the videos are remastered for Hi-Def.
How do you like the MHB videos?
-
two of their best videos, i think! solidifies the Mutter era as my favourite and, imo, their creative peak (not including the live show, i suppose).
it's too bad they edited the best part of the song proper, though. still, it continues the 'tradition' of interesting song edits that change the arrangement, just like what happened with "Sonne."
-
Yeah the best thing that I ever liked about MHB was the guitar solo section which they removed in the video version :-/
I think Reise Reise is R+'s creative peak era, both live and on record. Mutter has two or three songs that are better than anything on Reise Reise but as a whole Reise Reise is better, it also flows so much better.
I kinda like Sonne's video/live version, but the original one is definitely better.
-
Reise, Reise is absolutely magnificent. Their best songs are still on Mutter, but that album kind of dies after the halfway point, while Reise, Reise is pretty much consistent all the way through.
-
Cool that they are bringing this out, but tbh, I'd rather have a live DVD of the new tour. There's so many songs that I'd love to see, I think Mutter alone would seal the deal for me.
-
We are currently in the finals of the Rammstein survivor, so please take a moment of your time and head down to P/S to vote!
Thanks.
-
DTF'S FAVOURITE RAMMSTEIN SONG HAS BEEN CROWNED! IT IS...
*drumroll*
SONNE!
Interestingly enough, the Top 3 songs were all from Mutter: Links 234, Sonne and Ich will.
Thanks again for everyone who took the time to vote on this survivor. :tup
Also, loltriplepost
-
How did I miss this thread... But now I'm here! And Scorp, thanks a lot for running the Survivor!
-
Saw these guys yesterday, they kicked some serious ass. It was even more impressive than three years ago, the set list was terrific, the show was impressive, the pyrotechnics even bigger than last time around.
That's a band I wouldn't mind seeing one hundred times, I can tell you that. :hefdaddy
-
Awesome! What did they play?
-
https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/rammstein/2013/kombank-arena-belgrade-serbia-23d81c47.html
It was pretty much a greatest hits set with a couple of surprises in there.
-
Rammlied.
-
^ dunno what happened there with your post but Rammlied would have made this setlist identical to the LIFAD tour and I think that's why they dropped it but I do love that song too.
I wish they would have added Mein Land, it's the freakin single for the album they've been touring to support for a year and half now and it still hasn't been played live.
Glad to see Sonne went back to it's best spot in the set list, as amazing as that song is; it loses a lot of it's energy when it's an opener.
-
metty how the hell did you edit phil's post :dangerwillrobinson:
Also, you know what needs to stay a mainstay in Rammstein sets forever? Mutter.
-
Anyone know about this ? Till Lindemann has a soloproject coming out june 19th, called Lindemann. All songs are in English.

DISC 2: Documentary: “Rammstein in Amerika” / 122 min. // Director's Cut
Hannes Rossacher’s major documentary “Rammstein in Amerika” is a great journey. It begins in summer 1988 on the Ostseestrand in East Germany and accompanies the band on their long, sometimes painful, but finally successful conquest of the American continents up until 2001. It continues with their farewell to the US after the events of September 11th and ends in front of thousands of cheering Americans in Madison Square Garden.
For the documentary, Rammstein provided extensive, previously unreleased footage and photos from the band archive. In numerous interviews from various periods in the band’s history, the band members speak about their experiences across the Atlantic.
Old and new friends and acquaintances, as well as many American colleagues, pay tribute to the band and recount anecdotes. Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Moby, CJ Ramone, Steven Tyler (Aerosmith), Iggy Pop, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley from KISS, Wes Borland (Limp Bizkit), Marilyn Manson, Melissa Auf der Maur, Scott Ian (Anthrax), Jonathan Davis and Munky Shaffer from Korn, Shawn Crahan (Slipknot), actor Kiefer Sutherland (“24”) and many more.
Making-of the album “Liebe Ist Für Alle Da” / 21 min.
In November 2008, Rammstein begin recording their sixth album “Liebe Ist Für Alle Da” in Sonoma Mountain Studio in California. Paul Landers documents the six-week studio production. He interviews his bandmates and films during recordings and photo sessions, until he finally gets told: “Oh Paul, that’s really getting on my nerves, just turn it off …”

I was gonna say the vocals sounded overdubbed and someone in the comments said it is.
-
The chorus vocals on Ich Tu Dir Weh are definitely dubbed. Haven't really listened to the rest, but the verse vocals on that same song sound pretty live.
-
Yeah, I sort of got that impression as well. Too bad, but the stage setup looks fantastic. Best I 've seen in years from them.
-
I'm interested in that documentary, I wonder what Kiefer Sutherland has to say. :lol
By the way I thought about this the other day: Isn't Rammstein the biggest non english speaking band in the world? I can't think of another act at the moment.
-
Probably. Don't rule out those crazy Japanese, though. That whole Kawai scene or whatever it's called is supposedly huge over there.
-
Yea that's true but I was more referring to worldwide. Also one of few bands that have kept their line-up intact since day one.
-
Anyone know about this ? Till Lindemann has a soloproject coming out june 19th, called Lindemann. All songs are in English.

Don't know that much, but this song and music video are awesome. :lol

E: Quite NSFW.
-
I listened to it once. The music sounds good enough, but the lyrics are so silly, it´s just ridiculous.
-
:lol Love this opening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Y_wNssGJGw
I just thought, can you imagine the reactions if that was a nazi flag instead....
-
I'm sure they played with the thought....they know they can't go there, though.
-
I listened to it once. The music sounds good enough, but the lyrics are so silly, it´s just ridiculous.
Some of the songs on the album have okay/good lyrics. Yukon, Children Of The Sun, That's My Heart come to mind.
I actually enjoy the ridiculous lyrics to Ladyboy, Fat, Fish On and Praise Abort though. :lol The music is what matters either way.
-
I'm a bit surprised this hasn't gotten more press, though.
-
Bought Rammstein in America a couple of days ago and saw it last night. The documentary was awesome and so was the show, highly recommend it!
Anyone that saw the MSG live?
-
I just recently got into these guys and have thinking about getting the Blu-Ray. Apparently they just announced that they will be starting work on a new album.
-

Yep, they posted a photo. I think it's from their rehearsal space.
ALSO, a huuuuge boxset of all their albums on vinyl is coming out - including a bonus rarities LP with "Los" full band/electric version! Pre-order on Amazon is just over $200 right now.
-
Saw the documentary. Excellent! Really dug the early footage. And how odd that they speak English so badly! Now for the concert.
-
So is it true that this wasn't really filmed in NYC? There is speculation on the net that only the crowd shots are from NYC and the actual performance footage is from a show in Canada.

There are plenty of crowd shots with Canadian (and French? Can't remember) flags, so I'd say the entire show is supplemented with footage, not just the performance shots. And who knows what's in the audio mix – it's so perfect, I wouldn't doubt it uses multiple show sources and studio overdubs too.
-
I saw the new DVD at my friend's place last night. What a tremendous concert. :metal
-
I keep forgetting there's an active R+ thread on DTF, dunno why :lol

Volkerball DVD is a better performance and setlist but the Amerika bluray is amazing as well, I've watched it a few times so far and I'm in love with the picture and sound quality.

I know for sure that when the MSG show was announced as their single show in America for the LIFAD tour; masses of Canadian R+ fans arranged road trips and such to get to the show, as well as people all over America. I could go cause money.
But I did catch them twice on the Made in Germany tour, there's gonna be a BR for that eventually too.
BTW the picture in the little credits booklet of the new bluray of R+ in an elevator is mislabeled as California September 17th 2012 but it was actually taken on May 24th 2012 in the AT&T center in San Antonio, Texas. I know cause it was one of the R+ concerts that I went to in 2012 and I know a guy who worked at the AT&T center and actually took a picture in the same elevator with the same elevator attendant. Not that it matters but eh..

Volkerball is fantastic as well, that whole venue was awesome!

It is great, Metallica filmed a dvd there too, about 6 years ago

Völkerball is one of my favourite live DVDs of all time. The show is amazing, and the setlist is superb.

New Blu Ray/DVD!
German industrial metallers RAMMSTEIN are preparing to release a new concert DVD and Blu-ray, "Paris". The set was recorded in March 2012 at the then-named Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in Paris (now AccorHotels Arena) during RAMMSTEIN's "Made In Germany" tour, and was helmed by the band's longtime collaborator, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund.
The first trailer for "Paris" is available below

Fuck yeah man, I wish they'd remaster it for BluRay.
It's also amazing for me cause it's the only R+ that has lyrics subtitled in German, helped me a lot in learning the language. I was so disappointed when they didn't do the same thing with the LIFAD MSG BluRay they released last year.

Same here. I saw them live twice on that tour. My only complaint was that they opened with Sonne which always felt like an encore kinda song.

Paris to be released on DVD/Blu-Ray and maybe CD(?) in May
On Friday, March 24, the official presale for the concert film "Rammstein: Paris" begins ahead of its worldwide release on May 19.
The film, which will be released in many configurations, sets new standards. In March 2012, during the "Made In Germany" tour, Swedish director Jonas Åkerlund shot two acclaimed RAMMSTEIN concerts at the Palais Omnisports arena in Paris in front of 17,000 spectators.
Featuring 22 songs from the band's entire repertoire, the resulting film is not only the most spectacular collection of imagery about the most successful German rock band of our time, but also a masterpiece of music cinema, capturing RAMMSTEIN's energy as a unique visual and sonic experience.
Åkerlund is notorious for his radical, pioneering video clips for bands such as THE PRODIGY, METALLICA, THE ROLLING STONES, and also RAMMSTEIN. Absurd details, upended perspectives, shocks of contrast, and sensory confusion flicker through his music productions, and in "Rammstein: Paris", he celebrates this from the very first minute.
RAMMSTEIN play 22 songs (128 minutes), ranging from "Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen?", the first song from the very first album, to "Frühling In Paris", from the last studio album, "Liebe Ist Für Alle Da".
"Rammstein: Paris" was picked up for worldwide rights (excluding Germany, Austria and Switzerland) by Picturehouse Entertainment, the distribution arm of the U.K.'s Picturehouse Cinemas chain.
"Concert films are always a big challenge," said Åkerlund. "I compare it to shooting fireworks. The way I approach it is to try to translate the energy that you get in the room onto film, using every trick in the book to make as much of an impression as I can on the audience."
"Rammstein: Paris" was shot over two nights, using 30 cameras.
"That gives you a massive amount of footage," Åkerlund added."This is a two-hour-twenty-minute show, and I take the footage and cut it with the same precision that I would a three- or four-minute music video. Even with a big crew of editors, it took us over a year to nail down the edit."

Live video for Wollt Ihr Das Bett In Flammen Sehen? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqnk9HWbKRA
Video looks awesome, but the rapid edits kill me. They have some wicked shots though, so it all evens out. The video quality is amazing again.
-
I didn't like it. The camera changes every 2 seconds. It looks so artificial like a videoclip and not like a real live concert.
I hope they make another studio album soon.
-
I was at the cinema last Friday and I was totally blown away. I think Akerlund did a great job there.
It may sound weird but I am so proud that eastern Germany came up with that band.. Till was born one hour away from where I come from :D
-
A bit off-topic, but I spoke to a 61 year old lady in the pub last saturday and guess who she would love to go see live? RAMMSTEIN! :hefdaddy
-
When a band releases a live DVD the first thing they should do is watch a Dream Theater DVD and a Maiden DVD and decide what they want theirs to look like. And then hire DT's crew so that it doesn't piss people off and cause seizures in little Japanese kids.
-
Yea, that looked more like a music video. Too many edits and effected shots like the slow-mo or the weird stuff they did to Till's face.
-

I actually liked the distortion on Til's face during the scream. Still, it's not right for a concert video. I had a disagreement with a poster here (who's far, far more qualified to discuss this than I am) about concert videos. Some people think they should be like a movie. I think they should be a documentary. What happened that night is what you see. To each their own, I suppose, but this approach, which Maiden's equally guilty of, annoys the bejeezus out of me.

Did anybody attend the Jones Beach or Chicago shows? I really don't want to sit through Hellyeah, but last time through there was turnaround between them and the opener, so I'm not sure when things start exploding. It'd be great to have some idea when to arrive.
-
I went to Chicago last night. Missed the opener cuz I got there late, but stein killed it as always. Great show.

You notice when Ramm went on? Was there a normal intermission between them and the opener?

Yeah they hit the stage around 9:30....there was a solid 45 minutes between bands. The opening band was called 3TEETH.

Thanks for the info. That's what I needed to know.
3TEETH is a common Tool opener, BTW. Never seen them, though.

Question for FTBD7 (or anybody who saw the Vegas show) that I keep forgetting to ask. Before the show and between songs you could hear comm-chatter from what I gathered was the lighting guy. Almost like Spinal Tap at the air force base. I thought it was pretty amusing and assumed it was intentional, but I guess you never know. Did that happen at other shows, or was there something amiss in Dallas? Also interesting is that my companion didn't notice it at all, so it's possible that one of us was being effected by gin and narcotics. You never know.

I didn't notice anything like that (but I was also several beers deep)

Has anyone else picked up Paris? Amazon finally sent mine after I pre-ordered the special edition (Blu-ray/2CD) 2 months ago.
The picture quality and sound is fantastic, even on stereo 2.0. My surround system died a while back and with a 2-year old and a baby on the way, I won't be listening to anything terribly loudly over the next few years.
My only complaint is the CGI and editing. This is the "directors cut" concert film, and Jonas Akerlund had his way with the rapid-fire editing and added way too many digital effects. It looks cartoonish at times, with band members almost appearing so CGI and imposed over the stage. There are a lot of slow-motion effects, often during the pyrotechnic stunts, so you miss out on a wide shot of seeing the stage all blazing in fire.
Overall, the Madison Square Garden film is much easier to watch, but I love having a document of this tour (and both tours that I saw in 2011 and 2012). Kudos to the band for recording both of them and finally releasing each concert.
-
Even the few clips they posted on youtube gave me a headache and overall werent nice to watch. Won't be picking up this one.
-
I loved their Mutter album back in the day with the video for Sonne (still my favorite Rammstein track), and ever since I've been following. Had the pleasure of seeing their show a month ago at Graspop. It was absolutely amazing. A unique band and still underrated in the mainstream if you ask me. Untouchable at what they do, really.
-
The editing is frantic for the first few minutes, but it relaxes as the show progresses. Give it a try.
-
I'm excited about getting the Paris BR, I like it when bands do experimental filming/editing of live shows, I don't see nearly enough of it.
My main concern is whether or not it has subtitles, the last few releases didn't. Volkerball did and it was pretty great for my German learning.

No subtitles for the concert. The Behind the Scenes section does have subtitles for the German conversations and interviews. I miss the option of having subtitles, but it is what it is.
-
I saw about half of the Paris DVD, and all I gotta say is that it's a shame the director completely ruined what could've been an amazing concert film. I've seen them 3 times and that tour was my favorite, so I was looking forward to the DVD. The shots looked great, but the constant cutting was just completely obnoxious and unnecessary. Otherwise, everything else was good.
-
I liked the Made in Germany tour okay but the Reise, Reise tour takes the cake as their best by far IMO. Mutter tour being a close second.
By LIFAD & MIG it felt that the band is just going through the motion and not as motivated as they were back then, especially Lindemann, I know age is a big factor but he has scaled back on a lot of his old theatrical antiques.

I can agree with that. For the record I meant MiG was my favorite of the 3 that I saw (LIFAD, MiG & the tour this year)

They really need a new album honestly. It gets kinda old when you keep releasing live versions of the same songs we've heard a thousand times (and always with a lack of Herzeleid and Sehnsucht).
Theatrics are okay, but they don't make a music show.

Yup, there's only so many ways you can listen to the same things, especially since the live versions are pretty identical to the studio versions.
I would suggest doing a unique concert. Change up the songs a bit, in how they play them. Maybe add an orchestra, or do a piano/acoustic type thing or something that actually makes the songs themselves more interesting.

Oh no! John Williams and the London Symphony Orchestra!

Not really familiar with these guys. I've heard a thing or two here and there through the years, and remember reading a few things about them. Each time they have come up, I have concluded: not my cuppa'.
This came up on my YouTube playlist yesterday after I was listening to something else: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5dO5lhnI1M So I let it play in the background while I was working and doing other things. And then did some more reading about them. At the end of it all, my conclusion remains where it was. Except that I probably have an even lower opinion of them than I did. The music is decent. And the live spectacle is pretty amazing. But the listening experience ultimately isn't something I would gravitate toward very frequently. And on top of that, it just seems like their whole gimmick is to be as edgy and controversial as possible, while denying that they are being edgy and controversial, and putting forth an air of, "What? It's just music, man. We're just artists, and we can't help it if people read things into our music/image that aren't there." I find that type of persona to be very disingenuous and offputting.
-
They don't deny the controversial nature of their lyrics and stage performances. They embrace it - Mein Teil is about a cannibalism case in Germany, and the band read the news article about it and said "hey, this is so messed up that we NEED to have a song about it." They don't shy away from talking about song topics. They like to push the envelope, but you are correct that their opinion is that it shouldn't really be controversial - it's just music at the end of the day, and they hit on some of the darker or more private aspects of life.
That's all it is - it's Kiss on steroids, full on shock-rock. Let's take the theatrics to 11, add more fire and pyrotechnics, and push people's buttons with sexual lyrics and imagery.
PS: Their live shows are total spectacles and amazing, regardless of anything else.
-
I don't think we are really disagreeing, so much as just saying the same thing in different ways. It's not that they shy away from it, but more so that they are in denial about a lot of things being controversial/shocking, while simultaneously going to great lengths to be controversial/shocking. A lot of quotes I saw were along the lines of, "Yeah, nothing to see here. If people feel this is controversial, that's on them, not us." I dunno. I still feel like I'm not really articulating what I am trying to get across, but it just rubs me the wrong way. Even if I ultimately didn't listen to them, I would...hold them in higher regard, for lack of better description, if they portrayed themselves and their music more along the lines of, "Look, we are all about shock and controversy, and if you don't get off on that type of thing, we're probably just not the band for you, but check us out anyway and draw your own conclusions." I don't know if that makes sense.
-
Rammstein is not all about controversial stuff. That's just a small part of them. Lindemann's lyrics are actually very intelligent and (this might piss you off) maybe it's not the same when you don't get all of the lyrics. They're full of images and onomatopoeia and words that are not usually used (anymore). I'm guessing it's very hard for a non-German native speaker to understand at times. Lindemann's plays on words are incredible, very well hidden at times and sometimes pretty hard to understand.
Even I had to google some words to understand them. In "Haifisch", Till uses the word "Zähre" which I had never head before. It's actually a synonym for "tear" from "Old High German" from around the 8th century and it's never used anymore. He sings more or less:
"The shark has tears, and they run down his face.
But the shark lives in the water, so the tears cannot be seen.
In the deep it gets lonely, so the one or the other tear ("Zähre") will run (?)
And that is why the water in the oceans is salty."
I don't know about you guys, but I find this very beautiful.
Lindemann adapts Goethe (the song "Dalai Lama", adaption from the Erlkönig (1782)), Kurt Weil ("Haifisch", an adaption of Mackie Messer from the Threepenny Opera (1928)) or Fontane ("Roter Sand" is inspired by Effi Briest (1895)), among many others.
I gotta admit, I am a huge fan of Rammstein (definitely in my top 10 bands of all time), so this post is probably not very objective. And I get that some people don't like them, but I'm actually getting a little tired of the fact that people think that they only do what they do to be controversial and to piss people off. Their music is also not dull and unmusical, because that's also just a small part of them. They are rockers, they are tough dudes, but they're also romantics. Lindemann has released two books of poems (!), for gods sakes.
Fun fact: My girlfriend (who loves Ed Sheeran and Rhianna) once had a big fight with her parents and I was there also. She stormed out and told me she just wanted to go somewhere in my car. She was super pissed and wanted to listen to something aggressive and loud. So I put on Rammstein. It totally calmed her down, she really started listening to the lyrics and melodies, and sometimes just had to admit that they have beautiful melodies and lyrical phrases that she never noticed, because she only knew Du Hast and Pussy. But if you listen so a song like "Nebel" (a song about an old couple in which she confesses to him that she knows she will die soon... hauntingly beautiful) or "Donaukinder" (a song about the Plague), you'll see that this band is more than just about controversial stuff and being tough and German and pissing off people.
-
Rammstein is not all about controversial stuff. That's just a small part of them. Lindemann's lyrics are actually very intelligent and (this might piss you off) maybe it's not the same when you don't get all of the lyrics.
Nope, that doesn't piss me off at all. I appreciate that you took the time to post that, and I appreciate the connection you have with their material. And I get and can respect a lot of the things you pointed out. From both an artistic standpoint and in terms of just creating something other people can relate to and deeply connect with, that is all really cool. I mean, they are definitely artists and are definitely a creative force. The things you mention are all things I tend to REALLY gravitate to and appreciate in other forms of art/music. It's just that the things I pointed out unfortunately overshadow and taint the good parts for me. I can't get past that. And, frankly (not intending to piss you off), I don't want to.
-
Some of the Rammstein lyrics are truly beautiful, such as Nebel, Rosenrot or Roter Sand.
Then there are the ones that are pure shock rock, such as Pussy, Bück dich or Mann gegen Mann.
And then there are some that manage to be both controversial yet meaningful, such as Mein Teil.
They're not my favorite band lyrically, but there's plenty of stuff to keep me both entertained and moved, both horrified and educated. They do a fine job.
-
So there are rumours that Rammstein is going to release their next (and quite possibly last) album later this year.

Ya I saw an interview with Richard where he said it MIGHT be their last album.
-
Yeah I saw that too, I'm just assuming. That's why I put the "quite possibly" in there ;)
I hope not though!

Well they’re getting up there in age and they’re slowing down quite a lot. Could be it for them.

Rammstein are in trouble again :lol
Video is coming out today!
I can't wait for this, even though I will not listen until I can listen to the whole album :lol
I will watch the video without sound, though. Oh man, we have been waiting for this for 10 years now!
(yah I know, I'm weird)
-
The song leaked ahead of the video premiere and it's absolutely fantastic. :metal I can't believe that it's been about 10 years since they've released an album.
-
Oh my god I'm so excited for this. I'm another one who has been waiting for damn near 10 years!
-
The song leaked ahead of the video premiere and it's absolutely fantastic. :metal I can't believe that it's been about 10 years since they've released an album.
Yeah, the thought that we will get something new from Rammstein actually gives me goosebumps.
Do you guys think we'll get an album information, preorder link etc today?
-
The album is self titled and it’ll be out 5/17.
Before, they said it could be their final album. With it being self titled, I think it’s definitely their final one.
-
ehh I wasn't impressed. I song is average and the video has too much going on, I love R+ music videos but this one kinda lost me half way through, I'll give another shot later.
-
It was okay, not surprising for the first single.
The video has been up only for 40 minutes now and it already has half a million views. :o
-
The song is not good in my opinion. It lacks heavy riffs and is way too poppy. Im disappointed with that.
The video.... I dont know. It argues whether or not we should like our country and thats a good thing. But for me the line "deutschland, deutschland über allen" totally kills the song. Its waaaaaay to close to the lyrics of the national anthem during the nazi regime. You shouldnt hear thousands of people sing that at their concerts. On top of that people could actually sing "deutschland, deutschland über alles". I think Rammstein went too far with that line. Sad...
-
I'm sure they will get away with it, though. They've gone too far a dozen times in their career, it's kind of their thing. And whatever they're addressing, there's never been any malice or ill-will in it. As long as people try to understand what this is about.
-
I'm sure some fans already chant "Heil" during Heirate mich.
-
What's the difference between alles and allen?
I don't understand the premise of the video yet, so the black woman is a time traveler?
-
I think the song kicks ass. I love the keys and lead guitars, and it's incredibly catchy.
The lliteral transation is essentially "Germany over all" though "uber alles" translates to "above everything." To me, the video is showing the history of Germany, from a medieval period though the Nazi regime, and the black woman is from the future and traveling backward through time?
It's hard to understand without a full lyrical translation. I agree that the band is just doing their usual - pushing the envelope and probably employing some creative word-play.
-
They're back. Absolutely loved it. Gave me goosebumps by the time they reached the last chorus. Tiny flavours of Iron Maiden in the guitar work which was interesting. Can't wait for the album!
-
wtf did I just watch?
"Deutschland, Deutschland über allen"
They've always had this army theme to them, subtle tongue-in-cheek sort of way (Links 2,3,4 anyone?), but that line, eh. That won't go down well.
On a more positive note, since we're praising Rammstein in here. Their live DVD "Live in Nimes" ("Völkerball") is beyond incredible. Although it's downright frightening to witness how the crowd just loses it to the music. Lindemann could have sung/shouted whatever he wanted and the crowd would shout back.
Which leads back to the line/point mentioned above. Eh. Really don't like it!
-
Awesome song. Awesome video :metal
-
Cool video and song, that will definitely be huge live!

Because some people asked about the lyrics: The controversial line "Deutschland über allen" literally means "Germany above everyone", whereas "alles" would mean everything (at least approximately, it's a bit more subtle in reality).
Also, because context is important, I really don't think the line is bad in this context. The whole song is quite critical of Germany's history, and then there are lines such as:
"Deutschland – mein Herz in Flammen
Will dich lieben und verdammen"
(Germany, my heart in flames, I want to love you and damn you)
or:
"Deutschland – deine Liebe
Ist Fluch und Segen
Deutschland – meine Liebe
Kann ich dir nicht geben"
(Germany, your love is curse and blessing; my love I cannot give to you)
Kind of makes it clear where they're standing on the matter of blind loge to their fatherland ::). Again out of context, but don't have time to translate everything right now.
-
Thanks Tyrias.
I saw a full translation on fb a little earlier. I know to you Germans and Austrians "Deutschland über alles" is connected with the NSDAP era but for everybody else doing research will find that it's been the national anthem before that. Hell I've done so much WW2 era research back in the day that I don't even know the words to the stanza currently use, I just know Deutschland über alles, über alles in der Welt :lol
I remember me and my wife watching Germany VS. Sweden on the last world cup and without thinking I was casually singing along the national anthem at the start of the match, she pointed out that I wasn't singing the same words they're singing heh
-
Thanks. Sad to see the usual people and media commenting on the WWII imagery in the video and lambasting the band when they should really translate some of the lyrics.
-
What's the difference between alles and allen?
I don't understand the premise of the video yet, so the black woman is a time traveler?
She's Germania (the personification of Germany).
Amazing video and song!
-
Wow, so much detail in this video.
Did anyone notice that on the Nazi camp scene, not all the prisoners being hanged are Jews?
Paul Landers has the star of David on his chest. Ollie Riedel has a pink triangle: homosexual. Lindemann and Flake, couldn't see.
-
That was one of the most impressive music videos I've ever seen!
Song was great too, and I'm not even that big of Rammstein fan..
Also, post n. 1000! After 6-7 years or something :lol
-
Just came across a really nice breakdown of the periods of German history in the video and what they may represent:

and it's a jew (Lindemann) that says the line "Deutschland über allen".
The song is really growing on me, very simple yet so powerful.
-
Controversial or not, this was one of the most impressive videos I've ever seen and the song kicks ass. Love that femal chant in the last chorus, and how it suddenly just stops with only the piano. I wanted that chorus to go on forever.
-
Just watched the video.
Amazing. Great song, insanely amazing video. Then I read the English translation of the lyrics and I felt like I understood them just through the song/video.
-
Amazing song. My German's still pretty shitty, but I'm getting better, and as far as I understand, it's describing a sort of love/hate relationship with Germany.
-
Haven't seen this posted, here's the full tracklist for the new album which I actually missed is called Rammstein.
1. "Deutschland" ("Germany") 5:23
2. "Radio" 4:37
3. "Fick dich" ("Fuck You") 4:15
4. "Ausländer" ("Foreigner") 3:51
5. "Sex" 3:56
6. "Puppe" ("Doll") 4:33
7. "Was ich Liebe" ("What I Love") 4:29
8. "Diamant" ("Diamond") 2:34
9. "Weit Weg" ("Far Away") 4:20
10. "Tattoo" 4:11
11. "Tallymann" ("Tallyman")
-
Looks good to me. ;D
-
3 titles in English you say? Interesting

Nope, the German and English words are just the same.

I looked it up, and it looks like Till is also marked with a "Jew sign". But I don't know the difference between the red/yellow and only yellow star.
Flake seems to have one for "asocial": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_triangle_(badge)
And Oliver, as you mentioned correctly, is labeled homosexual.
Anyway, I still haven't heard the song yet, but I've seen the video a couple of times without sound. You might call me crazy, but I think it's the best music video I've ever seen.
-
That's an awesome video, indeed. Music is pretty cool, too. :tup
-
Great poppy lead single and album opener. But I hope it is an outlier and doesn't represent the full album.

You're right, Till is also marked with star of David. The red/yellow star means political prisoner/jew. Politcal prisoner = social democrats, socialists, communists, anarchists, rescuers of Jews, freemasons, etc.
Does Flake have a black or brown triangle? Black triangle = "asocial"; brown triangle = "gipsy".
Again: really amazing video!

I don't know how people feel about the new cover art, but I think it's brilliant.

I don't mind minimalism, but this one doesn't really do it for me. So at this point, I just want the music to be decent, and so far I'm very happy with that single.
-
It's interesting. My first thought was that it was a rather simple, boring cover.
Richard made a comment in an interview recently about how fans focus on the live show and the pyro element of the band, rather than discuss the band's actual music. So they'd have to really focus and write a new album with great songs to bring the focus back to their music. I'm expecting this to be their final album, so it's actually a pretty neat statement. It's a self-titled record. Rammstein. A picture of a match. Pyro, fire. It sums up exactly who they are.
The samples really sound cool - I love the riffs that they've previewed.
-
I know that Richard mentioned that it will probably be their last album, but a few weeks ago, Till said more or less the opposite. I will look for the interview later.
-
I just realised that I wanted to look for that interview. I found it, but it's in German.

what do you guys think about RADIO?
-
I liked the first song better, but Radio is decent.
-
Both songs are very good, I'm having a hard time deciding which one I like better.
-
Rammstein sure know how to make catchy songs!
-
Deutschland is a very, very good song imo. One of Rammstein's best.
Radio on the other hand might be in the bottom 10. The only thing I like about it is the synth.
-
I think this is the first time I turn off a new album by one of my top 5 bands before I listen to it all the way through, these songs sound like a bunch of Rosenrot and LIFAD b-sides.
-

How do you already have the album :o
-
So here's what's going to happen tomorrow:
I pre-ordered the 2LP version at the local store (I live in a small town and there's no record shops here, so I had to do it in an electronic market). It opens 9 am tomorrow, which means I will be standing there 6 minutes before 9 am. A 5 litre barrel of Radeberger is already sitting in my fridge. I'll have two friends over and we will skip everything we have on that day in university (statistics module pfff) to day drink and celebrate the day we've been waiting for for 10 years.
-

People have been able to buy the CD in several small Eastern European towns since yesterday, they've been posting selfies with the CDs over R+ fb groups. The whole album has been uploaded a few times to youtube last night before being taken down, I haven't checked today.
-
I am listening to all Rammstein albums chronologically tonight. Seriously, I can't wait for tomorrow. 10 years I have been waiting for those 45 minutes.
-
Same here dude. I hope you enjoy it!
-
What an album! I didn't really care for Liebe ist.. for reasons unknown to me, but I've always enjoyed the band's sound, especially Mutter and Reise, Reise. This is, again, spectacular. The sonics are incredibly pleasant, it has their signature heaviness and Til Lindemann.. what can I say. This band is just on another level. Excellent lyrics, atmospheres and songwriting. That's what this album underlines the most: Yes, they're singing german over incredibly mechanical heavy metal riffs, but there's plenty of depth to be found for those who are willing to listen.
Puppe just literally melted my face off.
-
Like the album a lot.
-
So far, I don't like as much as LIFAD. Definitely not as heavy, aside from the first handful of tunes. Then the disc just completely peters out. I'll have to give it some more listens, but only the first 3-4 songs really do anything for me.
-
I think it starts off strong, gets kind of tedious in the middle and then picks up again towards the end. So far I'm liking it, but it's yet to be revealed which of the songs are truly great. One thing is certain, LIFAD was light years ahead of this one, no contest.
-
I'm excited to listen to it admittedly. Fun fact about me: Herzeleid and Sehnsucht were the first two records I bought for myself at age 7.
-
Puppe is horrific, I love it :lol
-
Puppe is horrific, I love it :lol
The vocals are so good and fitting with the lyrics in Puppe, might be my favourite vocal performance on any Rammstein album.
-
Guess Im in the minority but I can't stand those raspy vocals on Puppe. It's the only song I skip.
The rest of the album is A+. A great mix of the Rosenrot/Reise Reise and Herzeleid/Sehnsucht styles.
-
They'd probably annoy me if I didn't understand the lyrics, but the fit amazingly well if you can understand German, imo.

Till is a master of the German language IMHO.

I like the lyrics to Puppe, but that chorus is hard to listen to sometimes. :lol
-

not to me. I find it very fitting. Sung (and screamed) well
-
I have never heard Till sound like on Puppe. Amazingly "sung".
The lyrics are genius on this album. Till has really delivered some wonderful verses. Diamant, beautiful. Puppe, a little horror-short-story like Hilf Mir or Klavier. The title Ausländer alone tackles the whole political shit going on right now in Germany and around (Ausländer = foreigner) and then completely ignores it :D Classic Rammstein humor.
Radio describes how western thoughts were forbidden in the GDR. My parents told me that they did exactly what is described in that song. They also had a small radio and secretly listened to western channels at night. My parents are exactly Lindemann's age and were born 80km away from him. They probably grew up in similar circumstances. I love how Rammstein still stay close to being normal guys despite all the fame. That makes it possible to identify with the lyrics imo.
I can't wait what the lyrics still have in store for me to discover.
Rammstein by Rammstein is a great album.
-
Yeah, people were kind of on the fence with Radio coming out as a single after Deutschland, given that it sounded much more cheerful, but thematically, it's somewhat in the same ballpark. The music comes off slightly more dramatic than the lyrics, though.
At the moment, my favorites are Tattoo, Zeig dich, Hallomann and Ausländer.

musically, Radio is very reminiscent of Kraftwerk (predominantly Radioaktivität and Das Model)
-
Puppe forces you into the seeing the story in your head, I cannot hear it without picturing that kid ripping apart his toy in anguish. It's pretty emotionally draining.

Lindemann has a talent for that, I have been experiencing the same thing with a few other songs by Rammstein! Klavier, Spring, Hilf Mir, Spiel Mit Mir, Heirate Mich.
-
Only thing that came close to that for me was Morgenstern.
So to me this album has two great songs, Deutschland and Puppe. Two good songs, Radio and Zeig Dich. And the rest varies from average to below average.
I'm still listening on repeat, hoping it's a grower.
As it stands right now, it's the worst R+ album. It took over Rosenrot's spot for me.

I read my reply again and realized it's not perfect. :lol
Talking with some of my friends, they kind of just assumed the song is about listening to music on radio and didn't quite catch the whole part of radio being the forbidden entrance to the western culture. The track addresses German history as well as obviously Deutschland does, both songs have that in common.
The last sentence in my comment has to do with my interpretation of the verse prior to the last chorus. As much as the lyrics actually are serious once you get into them, that part is musically a bit too dramatic and "scary" for those lyrics. They sort of went too far trying to emphasize the seriousness of the topic. However, that's the only part of the song that's musically too dark - the rest of the tunes and melodies sound more lively and happy. I hope that I was able to clarify this.
-
New album is pretty good, but "Ausländer" has been stuck in my head for the last two days ;D..

Thanks for the clarification. I actually don't find Radio to be that dramatic. Then again, the music gave people back then a feeling that in my opinion suits the bombastic style of the bridge quite well.

Same, I LOVE Ausländer. I can't get enough of it and can't wait to rock out to it at the concert with my friends this summer! Especially because we will see them in Prague and since we're Germans, we will actually be "Ausländer" there!
-
Pretty crazy stage they have for this tour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcTEqqYNc08
Ausländer works great live!
-
That's one big ass stage. :metal
-
Say what you will about Rammstein's music itself, but I think everyone agrees that their live shows are always masterpieces! :tup
-
Secured tickets for the Stadium tour next summer. Can't believe it's the first time I see them after all these years, excited I am!
-
Got myself tickets for Oostende.
Now we have to wait a year ;D
-
Yea the wait is real, I now have enough time to digest the new album properly. :lol
-
After 2,5 hours of refreshing on 4 laptops and 3 mobile phones, I managed to get ONE standing ticket :D Fortunately, a buddy of mine managed to get one as well, so I won't have to go alone! PSYCHED
-
Enjoy.

I developed some sweat when the site broke and I thought I would never get my tickets. It just wouldn't let me buy more than one ticket for some reason so I ended up buying 3 single tickets 3 times. Turns out within 5 minutes 25000 people had bought tickets and after an hour they sold out. Yeez and they haven't even finished their recent tour and are playing in august in Sweden. :omg:
-
Man, these guys are just killing it at the moment! Is there a metal band (other than Metallica, I guess) that can sell out a stadium like these guys right now?
They have shot up to be the band at the top of my 'to see' list.

I jumped at tickets for the US tours in 2011 and 2012, mainly because I didn't know how many chances I'd get to see them. Both shows were absolutely fantastic. I skipped their last two Chicago dates, just due to logistics and family needs, but I'd consider seeing them again with this new production.
-
Damn, I was knocking around traveling to see one of those. Didn't figure they'd sell out stadia, at least not this quickly. I'm not a huge fan, but seeing them in Leipzig or someplace like it would be really cool.
-
I saw their Europe Stadium Tour two weeks ago. It was great, honestly! I’m not a Rammstein fan by any means, only know their most well-known tracks and I’d heard nothing off the new album, but the show was great. The stage was fantastic and sound was good. The band had no interaction with the audience, but apparently that’s how all their shows are. The fireworks and other peripherals & effects more than made up for that. Props (yes, pun intended) to their stage set-up and visuals!
Coincidentally my first arena gig as well!
-
For those who couldn't get a ticket - there is a short time a few weeks before the concert (or so), where returned tickets are resold by eventim. That is probably the only chance to get tickets for those concerts!
I will drive to Prague next week with two of my buddies, I can't wait for this show!

First-ever stadium run announced for North America, 10 dates only:
https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/rammstein-announces-summer-fall-2020-north-american-tour/
-
I'm going to see them Berlin (their home!), beginning of July. I already saw them in Prag last summer, it was unreal. I love this band.
-
Even though I'll likely be in Germany during their Spring stadium tour, those dates sold out almost instantly. They also managed to pretty much shut down the scalper market there. If I could get a ticket for Leipzig or Stuttgart I'd be all over it. It just doesn't seem to be possible. However, seeing them at the Foro Sol in Mexico will be the next best thing. I'll gladly pop down for a weekend.
-
I would love to see this tour, since they'll play a lot of new material and some older songs that are a bit more rare, but I'm not interested in a stadium show at all.
Too large of a crowd, affordable seats will be far from the stage, and the view won't be as great. I really liked the arena shows they did in 2011 and 2012, which gave us a great view. If I never see them again, at least I got to see two really amazing shows those years.

They needed to do multiple stadium dates. There's just that much demand. There's one German city, as well as Zurich where they're playing consecutive nights, but most of the others are single dates, and I suspect a whole lot of people won't get to see them (myself included).
-
I’ll definitely be at the Chicago show, even though tickets will cost an arm and a leg. I’m a sucker for large-scale productions though so this’ll double down on their already-spectacular show.
-
They're not listing ticket prices for the US shows. In Mexico the feuerzone tickets are $136 US, which is extraordinary. Generally tickets down there are about half what they are up here. We might well be into Roger Waters territory with $225 tickets in the US.
-
Tickets are ranging from 55$ for nose bleeds to 94$ for shitty-but-better-than-nose-bleeds to 144$ for awesome, which fuck Rammstein with a cactus btw.
What blows my mind, and what I came here to write, is that there's a guy that I met at the 2012 San Antonio Rammstein concert and have since become friends with on facebook, that guy has 2 more kids than I do and makes significantly less than I make but he got the 144$ ticket that I went "fuck that!" on. I want to understand but I can't. It's worth mentioning that he's like 10 years younger than me so maybe the age plays a role in those decisions and I might have paid that much for a single ticket 10 years ago, but then again I didn't have any kids 10 years ago and I made more money than he does now. I guess what I'm getting at here is that I'm worried I'm cheap for thinking 144$ is a lot of money :lol

$144 is a lot of money for a concert ticket. I paid $99 to see Rammstein in 2011 and 2012 and felt that was a lot of money at the time too. But I knew that they live show is worth the cost and they have to pay to transport the stage, pyro, crew, etc., so I understood the pricing.
I wouldn't pay $144 for this stadium tour, and I'm in the same place - two kids and other uses for that money. I'm happy to say that I've seen Rammstein, and I don't need to see them every time they come around - I blew off the last two or three shows in Chicago because of my kids and/or they weren't convenient locations or times for me to attend.

Curious if anyone has a pre sale code for these U.S. shows?

Sucks, but it is what it is. The reality is that they'll probably sell out those shows at those prices, so to that extent you'd have to call them reasonably priced. The argument scalpers makes it that concert tickets are actually greatly undervalued, as evidenced by the fact that people were paying upwards of $800 for good Tool tickets last night (and Tool massacred R+ in the expensive ticket department).
Also, I have to assume that $144 is face and not including TT&L. They'll actually cost more like $190.
As for myself, I bought a floor seat for Mexico City for $100 flat. Expensive by DF standards, but quite a bit cheaper than they are here. Of course I'll pay for the trip, but I'll also get the trip out of it. I like hanging out down there.
-
I haven't been able to check the US dates (those people don't need my phone number just to look at what's available), but Mexico City sold out about like their European gigs do. Two days of presale and 4 minutes of general onsale were all that it took to sell out. It takes Maiden and Metallica weeks, if not months, to sell out their shows down there (though they always do). People interested in seeing them ought not dawdle.

As for myself, I bought a floor seat for Mexico City for $100 flat. Expensive by DF standards, but quite a bit cheaper than they are here. Of course I'll pay for the trip, but I'll also get the trip out of it. I like hanging out down there.
The Mexico shows have a different seating set-up? Cause the the U.S. shows don't have any floor seats, all floor is standing, GA style.

Nah, it's all GA (though they have 3 sections instead of 2). I just always refer to floor seats vs balconies. Lawn seats too, now that I think about it. A holdover from back when all floors were seated, I suppose.

I've got tickets for the Rammstein gig in Cardiff (UK) on June 14th.
I'm actually surprised to have not seen anything about this being cancelled yet...
Has anyone else heard differently? Even if it is still on, I don't think I'd be comfortable going to a crowded venue as I'm guessing COVID-19 will still be around then.

Then give me your ticket. ;D

As far as I know, there haven’t been any postponements/cancellations for Rammstein. That said, hopefully Till makes a full recovery soon.

Rammstein - Zeit (Official Video) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbHGS_bVkXY&ab_channel=RammsteinOfficial)
I love Tills mellow voice, it really suits when they do songs like this. Great song and an amazing video.

No opinions yet on Rammstein's new song?
-
It's not a banger but could work well in the context of the album. Too little knowledge to form an opinion.

Zick Zack is a great, hilarious, video.

Guys the new Rammstein album is glorious. Mature, dark, epic. During Adieu I had tears in my eyes.
-
This is a LOT better than the last album, and a lot heavier, but still doesn't blow me away like Sehnsucht and Mutter did when I first heard them.
-
Where to begin...simply the most bad-ass metal show i've seen!

Cool, you were close! I saw them a month ago and was very far away. Couldn’t even make out the band members. Still, great show. Would’ve loved to hear Angst though, that’s such a banger.
-
Yea I was pretty close although I wasn't in Feuerzone, just a bit behind the fence from it. We could feel the warmth from the fire and pyros, that was cool.
It was so funny how they played ONLY Rammstein songs 2 hours before the support act and then the actual support played only Rammstein songs on piano. While the piano duo played very well it was a snooze fest sadly and I could feel that from the audience. Then came Rammstein with the pyro thing (not to spoil anything) but that freakin scared the crapped out of me and the entire audience woke up in a flash. :lol
Which set the tone for the entire evening and I loved that, so everything beforehand kinda felt planned to shock the audience, I atleast imagine that.
The whole beginning with the black smoke and fire and so on felt so industrial which of course suited their music.
Man i'm honestly blown away by this show, anyone how hasn't watched this tour should really do it!

Surely I’m not the only one who heard about the rape allegations against Till Lindemann? I really hope it’s not true but multiple women have come forward…

I wasn't aware of the allegations, and now that I am I'm not aware of any rape. Except, perhaps, only in a particularly narrow definition in the modern parlance. I think I'll head to the Weinstein thread before going any further.

As a manic fan of the band I don't dare to talk about anything regarding this topic outside my nearest circle of friends. I feel like this topic is so hot and controversial right now (at least in Europe, there is no paper or news website that doesn't constantly reports about this) that there are only wrong answers, no matter in which direction they go.

the drummer seems to distance himself and the band from Till

Actually no. He says he is sad because Till has distanced himself from the band over the years. The post ends with the words "we stand together".
-
That post gets misquoted everywhere. He distances himself (and the other band members) from the sex parties that the singer hosted, but just from a moral perspective. He reminds that there is yet any evidence of wrongdoing to be found and he personally doesn't believe that any took place. All party guests were able to leave when they wanted and consumed the substances they wanted to.

It is very hard for me not to sort of eye-roll a bit when the band has a song like...Buch Dich.
