Man, can't wait to hear the epics on this album.  I'm sure this song is nothing in comparison to them.  If this is the equivalent of We All Need Some Light or Bridge Across Forever for this album, then it's an indication of awesomeness.  I'm also hoping for another weird quirky song like Mystery Train.  That would be cool.

I've just thought of something. These epics aren't broken down into movements yet. I have no doubt there will be distinct sections in the music, but so far every TA epic (the 20-min+ ones) has separate movements with roman numerals and titles. Or do you think they would be announced at a later date?

I wouldn't assume that the accent is the problem.  It may be more Roine's tone, timbre, or just the way he chooses to sing.  Accent aside, his voice is far from the standard rock singing voice, so I can see people not connecting with or liking Roine's singing (although I personally do).  Way to leap to conclusions there, guys.

This is exactly what took me a few listens before I could get into his voice.  Something about his timbre bothered me at first.  I don't mind it as much anymore but I'd still rather hear 99% Neal on the songs.

I would say wait until closer to the release date. We may get more information about the epics and their movements. Between Neal and Roine (and Mike, to some extent), the epics they've been a part of, more often than not, have movements within them. A very few of TFK's epics don't have them, but they still have the feeling of segmented-portions that sound like movements, but they aren't given a name of any sort. I don't think Neal has done a song over 18 minutes long that HASN'T had movements within them.

For those who just wanna see them here...

CD1:

1. Into The Blue (25:13)
I. Overture (Instrumental)
II. The Dreamer And The Healer
III. A New Beginning
IV. Written In Your Heart
V. The Dreamer And The Healer (Reprise)

2. Shine (7:28)

3. Black As The Sky (6:45)

4. Beyond The Sun (4:31)

5. Kaleidoscope (31:53)
I. Overture (Instrumental)
II. Ride The Lightning
III. Black Gold
IV. Walking The Road
V. Desolation Days
VI. Lemon Looking Glass (Instrumental)
VII. Feel The Lightning (Reprise)

CD2 (Bonus CD):

1. And You And I (Yes cover) (10:45)
2. Can't Get It Out Of My Head (ELO cover) (4:46)
3. Conquistador (Procol Harum cover) (4:13)
4. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (Elton John) (3:20)
5. Tin Soldier (Small Faces cover) (3:22)
6. Sylvia (Focus cover) (3:49)
7. Indiscipline (King Crimson cover) (4:45)
8. Nights In White Satin (The Moody Blues cover) (6:13)

GREAT diversity in the covers! I'm looking forward to hearing them even more! As for the main album, that monster of a closing epic looks nice, especially with a fully instrumental movement near the end (with a funny name). Also - "Desolation Days"... I wonder if its Roine's doing? Heh heh

And of course, there are movement reprises in both, as can be expected of Transatlantic (and Neal, to some extent). I'm curious about the last movement of the title track, though, as it is a reprise of but the title is slightly different than the second movement - "Feel The Lightning" as opposed to "Ride The Lightning". Interesting.

Roine's voice was definitely an acquired taste for me. I still get put off by some Flower Kings material because of it (among other things). So I see where Cool Chris is coming from, sometimes accents in music can be a bit tough to swallow.

You know what, I glanced and saw a tweet from Neal about TA pre-orders starting and just assumed it was today. :lol

I don't know yet what I'll do PC. I might get the artbook at the "discount" price, I might get the vinyl, or I might just get the 3-disc package elsewhere. I assume the artbook package won't be available through other outlets. Vinyl likely will, but you never know.

Neal posted 7 minutes early it was up for preorder on Facebook, which caused the site to bog down when it wasn't really available yet.

My page came up, only thing addable was the songbook itself.. grrrr

After several minutes, the page finally came up... with no pre-order buttons except for the songbook.

This basically happens every time they offer a "first 200 get _____". Would it be so hard to say "everyone who orders in the first 2 hours gets ______"? Maybe they have to sign a few more autographs to cover the sales... but they'd also likely sell more of their premium-priced, high-margin copies (as opposed to people just buying from Amazon) and it wouldn't anger/frustrate the fans nearly as much as this mess.

They had the site throttled too low bandwidth wise, but then Neal couldn't log into the back end to enable the buy buttons... so now it's just busted.

Oh, believe me, I know what the problem is.

It's basically shitty web hosting.

You get what you pay for. And it's pretty clear that Radiant Records ain't paying squat to host that site.

I'd be inclined to agree.. though I've never seen a 'shitty' web host that lets you set your bandwith throttle unless they're just lying.

Their IP is owned by Amazon-EC2.  So yeah.... it's not 'so' shitty. They just need to ramp it up.

A lookup of their IP address would indicate that they host in the Amazon cloud (EC2). Bandwidth isn't the problem, they just don't have enough instances set up to handle the load. Given an operation of their size, I wouldn't be surprised if they usually run the site on a single, fairly small (and inexpensive) instance. Fortunately, in EC2 it is very easy to move to larger instances to handle traffic spikes, provided you've done a little up-front planning. Unfortunately, they didn't do this.. so now they are scrambling.

It probably doesn't help the site runs ASP.NET... sometimes that crap doesn't scale well.
