Electronic, I don't really care for it, electronic parts in songs doesn't bother me, but dubstep or anything related won't get you anywhere.Didn't you send someone a Pendulum song? I was hoping to get a bit of electronic stuff through. I'm still going to send some despite this warning so watch out.
Dubstep is just one (mostly) lame electronic subgenre - there's some fucking gold in electronic music.Go for it! We both profit from good submissions after all.
Oh, and I'll join of course.
I don't have much of an idea of your taste, and your roulette has themes. I usually have a good idea what people like when I join their roulettes, and I've never done one with themes before. But I'd like to join all the same - it should be interesting to try something different.
might as well go three for three on roulettes, count me in :lolHellz yeah, too bad Drumhead Trial was taken, that's by far the most badass Volition song name.
i'm glad someone liked my song-names-as-theme-titles idea :tup
..so I expect to finish last or whatever, but hell, I'll play. That's the spirit!!
..so I expect to finish last or whatever, but hell, I'll play. That's the spirit!!
Well yeah I liked Pendulum back in the days where they were an actual band and played live with their respective instruments, I still enjoy some Electronic, Brookes Brothers is on the banned list (which is Drum and Bass), it is accessible for me, but I want it to be more on the melodic side, and I don't think I've ever heard melodic dubstep :lol.
Do you like djent? :PAs long as it's not over the top with the instruments, I usually enjoy it, just keep in mind when sending djent that I'm usually fairly picky with vocalists, for one, not used to excessive screaming, and the only real example I can think of right now of a vocalist playing for a djent band that I enjoy is Spencer Sotelo.
you're getting david maxim micic, just accept it :Ple king 0f dj0nt
Just get Spotify already :lolI had it for one month, then realized I don't want to pay for it and deleted it. :-\
Sent Light of Day, Day of Darkness.:tup
Sent Light of Day, Day of Darkness.
Most themed rounds are pretty obvious, but two of them are kind of a stretch while the open rounds are pretty much the random leftovers.aww man i tried to at least have my open round names sound like open round names, sort of, a little :P
to be fair you spilled it first :P
I feel like shouting the chorus as loud as possible from the top of a mountain whenever it kicks in
Good thing you had that great second guitar solo in there because I think that’s what eventually made this song where it stands
This song never gets too complex to comprehend or anything, therefore it has more relistening value
I find it hard to say a lot about this, because there’s not all that much to complain about, neither is there something I’ve never heard before
And finally, angry Portnoy vocals transition into great, memorable melodies
It has very aggressive vocals which really fit this raw sound they’re going for

I hate uplifting rounds. I'm probably going to suck at it.
Parama, I swear, if you plugged the same hole I just tried to plug, I'm going to just straight up send you an hour long song.I can safely say that it was not Parama, and it was a round 1 submission. (Although he did point out he wanted to cut off people with his artist, he was far from the only one)

Oh man I wonder what 425 sent then, I'm curious :lol
Wow, I purpously didn't send the same song I sent to you to BIZKIT so I picked another song from the same artist, just because it seemed unethical, but apparently everyone does it :tdwn.I try my best to avoid doing this, mostly because I don't want to be predictable, but I have done it twice. Unfortunately my next submission in your roulette is going to mark the third instance. :lol Sometimes there's just that one song that you think is going to fare better with the host, and I worry that sending the second choice song would potentially mean less of a chance of a good score. Plus this time I have to adhere to themes, and while the band I sent does have more uplifting/joyful stuff, and I have songs from other bands that also qualify, this particular song fits the theme much better in my opinion. So I'm using it again.
Because I knew you'd love it more than the other one :P
i dunno track 2 did pretty well with me at leastHe sent track 2, which I think is the same you got last roulette.
I've seen this top three in this order before.... :neverusethis:Haha yeah I noticed that, though at first the top three was Seneca - Sacul - Tyrias, I guess yours was more of a grower.
Besides, I wouldn’t recommend following the path of instrumentals, as vocals really complement the music for me (oh and you’d be cutting off instrumental bands for a potential instrumental themed round :lol).
train i recommend that you start having better tasteIf you promise me I won't receive any more Lemmy Kilmister. :lol
and it's not like that's gonna stop you from getting like at least an 8.5 with it either :lol
I've seen this top three in this order before.... :neverusethis:
i had to go check which Anathema album that was off of because their latest three tend to blur in my mind a lot, but Thin Air is a good song yes. WHBWH iis definitely my favorite of the three recent albumsHad to go check out WHBWH after Thin Air, though honestly, Thin Air was by far the best choice, Angels Walk Among Us is probably my #2 choice, but that might be because it sounds most similar to Thin Air out of all of them. Overall a good album, but especially the kind of relaxing music I'll play in the background while working on stuff. Bilateral and Bilo 3.0 are on my radar aswell, will check them out sooner or later.
I still need to get Bilateral, :soon:
Kamelot also was on my radar, but I guess I can't blame 425 for sending it since I kinda introducted them to him and used many superlatives in process. :lol
I would've probably sent Untouchable Pt. 1 from Weather Systems. I don't like We're Here Because We're Here that much anyway.
The Black Halo was on my potential entries list, but not high on the list, so I'm not complaining about that option being closed off :lol
I got 425 into that album in the first place so I can at least feel good about that :hat
i utilize literally zero strategy in sending my songs. i dont even think about it until its time to send, and then i think about it for 10 seconds and send whatever i think of first.
Just sent a song from the genre that I'm calling "random songs that 425 really loves but that nobody else cares about"!I might encourage you to send then in my roulette :P
One of those plain fun songs, that just gets you in that happy mood right awayThis sounds a lot like mine.
I’m in dire straits here, because the singer sounds pretty torn between happy and sad
I’m in dire straits here, because the singer sounds pretty torn between happy and sad
I feel like this could, potentially, be mine, but I'm not sure. If so, I'd say that while I agree, the overall subject matter that he's singing about is not so torn. :heart
i should probably listen to that Jolly albumYes, yes you should.
I just can’t dislike it, not sure how you consider this to fall into the category of “songs only 425 seems to care for”, yours is most likely my favorite song of the round of all the atmospheric-ish songs (which aren’t too many, but just take the goddamn compliment).
Or Driven to Destruction (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfXL2aOu9ME) :PThat one would've done better to say the least.
That's quite an arguable choice for Riverside, Seneca :lol
yeah i'm going to try to avoid stepping on people's toes in roulettes 'cause that's no fun but i can't promise i won't send some artists people sent me at some point
I mean, it's a great song, yet I think ToN would have loved some of their heavier stuff :P
i should probably listen to that Jolly album considering the one song I did like a fair bitThe song that Elite sent to you is from the part 1 album, mine is in part 2!
You know, I was going to send Jolly later on, definitely. That was not the song I'd have chosen, at all. If you liked it (which you apparently did, giving it a 9.5), you're in for a treat with the rest of the record.I searched on the net before the submission and some reviewers loved The Pattern from part 1 and another one Despite The Shell from the part 2. I was not really familiar with both of them (I knew really well almost all Part 2 apart the section from While We Slept.. and As Heard On Tape, I'm a bad listener of new album in the last years..) and from part 1 I knew only half of the songs.
me: a person who treats two separate discs of one album as the same album :tupi should probably listen to that Jolly album considering the one song I did like a fair bitThe song that Elite sent to you is from the part 1 album, mine is in part 2!
Seriously, this is the first song in the roulette to actually ‘move’ me
also, the top two songs of this round couldn't have possibly been more different from eachother.
They kick it off with a badass riff that has been stuck in my head for at least 2 days nowAll potentially mine. I just have to hope it isn't the third.
As a matter of fact, it’s energetic as hell throughout the whole song
I don’t necessarily dislike this song, but it’s doing little to nothing special for me
And even though that chorus is awesome and pretty hard not to sing along to, the guitar tops that high standard
They kick it off with a badass riff that has been stuck in my head for at least 2 days now
Seriously, this is the first song in the roulette to actually ‘move’ me
Getting a very eerie vibe from that beginning, but dang, this person has a great voice!
I don’t necessarily dislike this song, but it’s doing little to nothing special for me
I think this is one of the few times I can't really remember what I sent :lolHere's a hint: You're one of the two people to send me an artist from my banlist.
And even though that chorus is awesome and pretty hard not to sing along to, the guitar tops that high standardAny of these :hat
They kick it off with a badass riff that has been stuck in my head for at least 2 days now
It’s actually pretty heavy compared to what I’ve heard from these guys before
I’m impressed by this band, but I guess it was to be expected because they’re not exactly obscure
Seriously, this is the first song in the roulette to actually ‘move’ me
Getting a very eerie vibe from that beginning, but dang, this person has a great voice!
I don’t necessarily dislike this song, but it’s doing little to nothing special for me
any of these seem like the best bets
hopefully not the third :lol
It seems a great round overallDamn right, I haven't done the math but it's probably the highest average score yet. (That's pretty tough to beat after r2)
i knew you'd say that
Also, I think I haven't commented on round 2 yet. Glad you liked that style so much, Caravan Palace are such a fun band and the kind of music I'd totally start dancing to on the street if it came up on my Ipod, screw people thinking I look ridiculous.Yeah me too, kind of getting the runner's high feel, but without the exhausting bit before. :lol
also RIP porcupine tree and caligula's horse entriesBeen meaning to talk about Caligula's Horse when I coincidentally saw that thread pop up :lol
at least that means my round 4 entry is safe :lol
Nice! Hope you have fun getting into PT ;)Sure will! Their catalog is huge though, I guess I'll start with In Absentia and figure where to go from there on.
mostly there was a pretty large, obvious hole that i hadn't yet plugged but wanted to plugI bet everything I have that I sent the same artist of Parama :lol
You're wrong, I'll tell you that much. Now give me everything you have!mostly there was a pretty large, obvious hole that i hadn't yet plugged but wanted to plugI bet everything I have that I sent the same artist of Parama :lol
Oh there's also 2 songs from the same artist, but I won't ask any of you to resubmit because they're from different albums and I trust that you know what you're doingI don't have a clue what I'm doing, actually.
You sent Avantasia, didn't you? :lol
I always thought Ayreon is pretty much non-roulette project, because if you send a song by them, you are ripping it out of context and every Ayreon album must be listened in full. I'm curious to see what people have sent.well i suck anyways so it's all ok
Árstíðir is probably Tyrias' pick, he sent the same combo (Susanne Sundfor and Árstíðir) in my roulette.
You'll probably like this okay.
I’m loving this song.
Unnatural Selection would be like #4 or 5 on the album for me, Age of Shadows, Liquid Eternity, Beneath the Waves, and The Sixth Extinction are probably all better tracks. but 01011001 is pretty great yeah.
You should first check a certain Swans album, Evermind :neverusethis:
Why have you sent Betrayal again?because it's basically my favorite ayreon song
^ I agree with everything the Russian said.I thought to that song, but then I told myself to send a song popular among fans. I'm not a big fan of Ornament/The Last Wrongs, so Music For A Nurse was a better choice for me
LordCost, try sending Massive Bereavement next time. Made me an instant fan in my first roulette!
Why have you sent Betrayal again?because it's basically my favorite ayreon song
My only complaint: the song's name is The Scarecrow. It's so epic it deserves this "the". :biggrin:Oh crap, I guess I mixed it up because there's this album I've been listening to a lot lately which has a title track without "the" and the album name with "the", I believe that album is called The Astonishing or something :neverusethis:
Take my advice: make a special playlist containing the album songs, and order it with Lunacy as the opener, and then the whole second disc, which is quite more accessible than the first one, and doesn't have the mothafucking 30 mins behemoth that is the title track. And eliminate the rest of disc 1 from the playlist. Trust me, if you can't sit through it all, this should help :lolYou should first check a certain Swans album, Evermind :neverusethis:
Honestly, I uploaded it on my phone but damn this album is so long I'm afraid to spin it. I can't listen to it on the road because it's 30 minutes longer than needed and I can't spin it at work because there's no way I'm going to work two hours uninterrupted. :lol
Senecadawg2
Glen Hansard – Bird of Sorrow (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIGCpWi5dIs):
You’re building up quite the reputation here, first Damien Rice and now this? Comparing this to 9 Crimes, I feel there’s some moments that surpass that song by miles, but some weaker points aswell, so I’m probably going to end up giving you roughly the same score, which really isn’t a bad thing. Talk about emotional vocals, holy crap, I know BIZKIT wasn’t sure what his favorite aspect of the song was, but I sure am. At this point I’m actually pretty curious what you have in store when it comes to heavier sounds, but I guess I can’t complain if you choose to continue like this.
hope the next round will suit you better than the last themed round though!I think I've made a wise decision this time, we'll have to wait and see though. I'm sending an email now.
Regarding Queen, YES THERE IS MUCH MORE IN THEIR CATALOGUE THAT SOUNDS LIKE THAT!!!!!!! Give them a chance. :)Awesome, will check it out!
omg evermind changed his avatar
Can you guys guess which one is mine? Starts with "Vanden" and ends with "Plas".Really? I thought RUSSKAJA would be yours :neverusethis:

since I can't now I might as well tell you that the Coheed I would've sent you would probably be Domino the Destitute but there are probably a dozen or so great roulette picks so
:lolsince I can't now I might as well tell you that the Coheed I would've sent you would probably be Domino the Destitute but there are probably a dozen or so great roulette picks so
What an interesting choice...
Yeah, I know that too. Wonder if the song is Gathering Dust.

I'm not that obvious. :neverusethis:
I don't even know what kind of band this is.
Yeah, I know that too. Wonder if the song is Gathering Dust.
Nope. I'm still scarred from the your response to Gathering Dust.
Damn, someone cockblocked me on SW. I know who sent David Gray tho :neverusethis:
Man, first I’m getting all these mp3 links and now a song that’s only on Spotify, that’s it I’m getting my 1 month free premium now.Spotify is a great service for free even without the premium trial, the limitations are not that bad - just a lower quality stream (160kbps Ogg Vorbis) and some ads thrown in between songs every so often. No reason to stop using it after the trial even if you don't subscribe, if you like it. Anyway, now that I know you're good with Spotify I might be able to stop sending you MP3s at least (we'll have to wait and see, I haven't planned ahead at all). :lol
I would also go ahead and say this is the weaker Steven Wilson song from HCE. I know it was an opener themed round, but if you take this album alone Happy Returns, Routine, Ancestral, Transience and the title track are better in my opinion.Planning on checking out some of the fan favorites (I think the Raven and that album previous to this one do really well with people) anyway so I'm not too bothered with it.
It meant to say 25-30 at max, I'll fix that, 35 is too much though :tdwn
Nice, I was kind of dreading results for this one, but 8.5 is really good. This song has been my go-to cheer-me-up song for the last month or so, it's so ridiculously funny.
I don't mind people sending longer songs for this round, that last round took pretty long anyway. Also, my song will probably on the shorter side of an epic round (so below 15 minutes), so it will kind of balance out I guess.
Oh, and do you like post rock?
and damn, can't send Light of Day Day of Darkness for the epic round, oh wellDon't worry, I'd reject it either way, I might aswell do an "album round" in that case. Apparently I stopped listening to this song 15 minutes in after one of you guys mentioned it.
as we get to the part where I run out of artists and start sending random songs.this is funny because you sent your two best songs in my roulette the last two rounds :lol
nice, glad for the extra half a point, that song sure deserves it. Also, can I send a 6:40 song for this round or is that too short? No sorry, song length is really the only factor I can take into acount before hearing the actual song, I wrote down 7-8 as an absolute minimum, if I go below that, I'll continue to alter the boundaries more and more.
as we get to the part where I run out of artists and start sending random songs.this is funny because you sent your two best songs in my roulette the last two rounds :lol
You know you can view the PMs you sent, right? I always assumed people saying "I don't remember what I sent" were kidding, but I'm not so sure now.
Either you guys left the "Save a copy in my outbox" checkbox blank when you were sending your other PMs, or I'm just special like that.
It meant to say 25-30 at max, I'll fix that, 35 is too much though :tdwnI might dig a little deeper and weigh my options anyway.
You just don't know what you're turning down now. It's 35 minutes, but unlike, say, Kaleidoscope, this song will feel like it's 10 minutes long because it's so awesome. Chad will back me up on this, especially since it's his trademark epic song to send in roulettes.I'm curious now...what is it? Just wondering if it's something I know or not.
Oh my god.
And I like that 425's score is now 42.5.
I sent the most obvious song anyone could possibly send. Here's hoping that ToN succumbs to peer pressure. The hell I will (unless it's good which it probably is)

*backs Evermind up*
It's actually only 32 minutes.
16 minutes is the length of A Nightmare to Remember. Maybe it's A Nightmare to Remember.
Well, it's your fault for not discovering it earlier. :loli shouldn't be allowed to agree with you this strongly
Oh come on Ommadawn only had tribal percussion here and there :'(
Fair enough. I love some percussion in that style, but there was no way for me to predict if you'd be annoyed by that thing so I guess that felt a little bit unfair to me. Oh well, at least I sent you the best EP :POh come on Ommadawn only had tribal percussion here and there :'(
I know... It just annoyed me is all. Which is the easiest way to get downgraded by me.
"It's all been decided" sounds like Slash - Too Far Gone, you sending me a Slash song for an epic round mate? POINTS DOCKED
well, I got a 9.5 or a 10Me too! And I expected no more than a 7.5 :eek

Mike sent the whole BTBAM discography?
And wait what... Duel with the Devil, fine... but you want to say you've never heard Shine on You Crazy Diamond? What the hell. I didn't even think it was allowed, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with that Need song and sent you this perfection of an epic.
Good job Splent.

I'm definitely making Spotify my preferred method for receiving songs on my next roulette because it's far more convenient than any of the others. It would be fantastic if I didn't have to use Youtube or receive files at all, but I know that's an unrealistic expectation. The convenience of clicking twice to add the song to your personal playlist makes both Youtube and Spotify so easy to use for these IMO, though Youtube is full of shit quality videos and videos that go on for 3 minutes after the song is over, they do have a way broader range of songs and artists. So I would probably not cancel out either of these, they both have their uses.

So I would probably not cancel out either of these, they both have their uses.Unfortunately I'm aware of the fact that I'd never be able to completely abandon Youtube for roulettes. But I sure would like to. :lol
Simple thing to do there is just convert the YT link to a .mp3 file, then save it in a directory that Spotify scans/imports. That way, songs that aren't on Spotify, you can still make Spotify as the sole source of your playlist. I was switching between iTunes and Spotify (for the songs that weren't on Spotify) for a couple of rounds before I realized I could listen to my own .mp3 files thru Spotify.Yeah I'm aware of its ability to do that, and I was considering loading up MP3s into it for my next one for that convenience. But, I especially like how easy it is to send/receive through it, the way you and I were for our roulettes. I definitely plan to encourage that for my v2, but of course I know it won't be possible all the time when stuff isn't on Spotify, and I also know some people can't use Spotify at all in some regions. But still, the more I can use Spotify the better as far as I'm concerned.
and I also know some people can't use Spotify at all in some regions.
Always a bit annoying to see multiple other songs which I considered score higher than my own. Particularly Ne Obliviscaris, which has been my go-to in epic rounds for quite some time now. Oh well, hindsight bias aside, I'm glad you enjoyed the song.should've sent them in my roulette, i'm trying to avoid stepping on people's toes here so i probably wouldn't have sent them if they'd been sent to me in my roulette :P
I've sent
Will send in a few hours.:corn
I'd like to say I got drunk or something but I just simply forgot :P
Sent.
For you, comfortable. I want my damn song Elite! If you are talking about scrobbling Spotify plays, you need to go into the Spotify preferences and put in your Last.fm username/password. Or are you unable to scrobble anything at all?
On a side note, I've just created a last.fm account yesterday because I thought it would be more representative of my music library in the future if I'm hosting another roulette or something. The problem though, the scrobbles never update, it still says I haven't listened to any music yet. Whazzap?
Wasn't able to scrobble anything at all, but atleast I connected last.fm to Spotify so maybe it works through Spotify now, thanksIf you've downloaded the scrobbler and logged into that, you should be able to scrobble from any supported media player.
Awesome, I got it to work finally!Wasn't able to scrobble anything at all, but atleast I connected last.fm to Spotify so maybe it works through Spotify now, thanksIf you've downloaded the scrobbler and logged into that, you should be able to scrobble from any supported media player.
Awesome, I got it to work finally!Cool. I'm Bolsters on there too if you want to add me. ;)
I'll add you! I also see somebody sent one of my favourite songs.
I'll add you! I also see somebody sent one of my favourite songs.
That would be me, I guess you mean The Canyon Behind Her, right?
i figure 425 sent the Death Cab for Cutie song :P
change my roulette entry:If anyone was wondering when the first 0/10 was gonna drop, here we have it. Sorry man, I liked your effort, but there’s simply nothing to rate :neverusethis:
to nothign, you deserve nothing
send you something so dark it makes the color black look blindingly bright, ok:corn
I sent TYS as well. Whatever, it only got a .5 more :)
A shame the dredg song scored higher as well though. That's like being ripped off twice in one round :lol
This roulette is strange. I seem to always get good points but I'm friggin' low :lolYea I kinda hate myself for being so easy on the scores, makes getting a good score way less satisfying.
Sending soon
I'll try to send today. As I said, busy withholidayshaving just had my wisdom teeth cut out of my head.
Well fuck, I just made an appointment for that yesterday, not looking forward at it at all..I'll try to send today. As I said, busy withholidayshaving just had my wisdom teeth cut out of my head.
FTFM
I'm glad I did this round because there's some songs I would never have discovered otherwise because you guys would probably not feel comfortable sending them, but obviously not everyone liked doing this round, still it worked out fine for the most part.
Oh crap, meant to say ROUND 8 LISTENING, sorry :loser:
Besides, it's not that fun playing in a roulette if you don't cheat a bit somewhere. Like when I sent Avantasia in Brent's. :lolGotta slip in that cheat somewhere. If it weren't for the cheaty moves I wouldn't have heard Shine On You Crazy Diamond by now, hell yeah.
Sorry for not going back through and reading the rules and everything carefully, but is this the last round before elimination? And in the final round, with the top 3, are the scores reset? All good.
Sent! Glad to have 3 songs in the top 25 :)Yeah your highs were incredibly good, actually Antebellum might be my #2, beating Forget Not, I've been returning to it a lot.
I did have other options (maybe I'll send a few of them to you after this roulette), both non-metal and metal ones, but this was the song I enjoyed the most out of those. Besides, it's not that fun playing in a roulette if you don't cheat a bit somewhere. Like when I sent Avantasia in Brent's. :lolI briefly considered sending Opeth myself, but I was thinking more along the lines of a Blackwater Park or Watershed song.

Already have 8/12 songs, great pace guys.
Yo Train, no more fucking around.Find out, in 1 or 2 days.
Pretty sure I know what Evermind and the Ninja sent.
Also, I'm pretty sure Bolsters sent Whitesnake.
also LordCost did well and sent the Vangough song i really liked on first listen this time :lolIt's impressive that you have guessed it among every possible metal song in the world I could have sent :hefdaddy

Damn, Nellie is in line to take down back-to-back wins, and be the first to double digits.
C'mon Rich/Ruslan... block him!

It's definitely possible, but I wouldn't hold your breath. Me winning back to back, that is.
FlyingBizkit's roulette, on the other hand, is certainly lining up well for me.

but you describe the song without writing an entire fucking essay like some do
@ Evermind, I've allowed this, already gave 425 the heads-up, keep in mind I won't be nitpicking on flow inbetween EP's too much, because you simply can't guess on what song someone is going to close/open their EP. If I did take into account the flow between EP's I wouldn't allow it but yeah.
If seneca and 425 can agree with that it'd be very cool :metal though I can imagine they don't want to be limited because they have to make their first song connect as well as possible to the last one. If you guys want to agree on this I'm totally cool with it. Only better for me
I doubt I'll be able to get mine in before Friday, since ToN doesn't seem to rushed and since I'm still not sure if I'm middle or last
Nope
Just sent.No you didn't ???
Just sent.No you didn't ???
Oh, by the way, 425, my last song was rejected so as you saw I had to re-send. Obviously I panicked and forgot to tell you, so my new last song is this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOvPBSgrxpU
I'm not sure if it matters now since you've sent anyway, but well, yeah. :lol
Cool. I suggest you should listen to mine in a calm environment focusing only on the songs and lyrics and on nothing else.

I was actually planning on listening to it in the Anechoic Chamber of my old school whilst recording my LIVE reaction, to then post it online and go viral on YouTube, but that's a good alternative
Seems as though my section will be the shortest of the three. Quality over quantity.
5. Evergrey – Hymns for the Broken (4:22)
Quote5. Evergrey – Hymns for the Broken (4:22)
Don't forget it's a piano version.
Anyway, I'm looking at the tracklists and I only know the Headspace track out of these. I think I have a pretty good chance here.Or perhaps you're screwed and just don't know it yet.
If you were running this round I bet you could pick a winner right away, based on last.fm and your avatar
If you were running this round I bet you could pick a winner right away, based on last.fm and your avatarI'm not familiar with enough of Evermind's (I know about half) or seneca's (I think I've heard Headspace but don't remember) to make that call. But I do like 4/6 of 425's EP (don't know the other two at all) and the half of Evermind's that I know.
Even if I didn't already know who was first/second/third, it would have been so easy to guess. :lol
My section has I believe two artists that I've never sent before, and 3 songs.
You really should give it a try, it's really good as one piece, better than expected. Though you'll never have the full Train experience, Evermind edited some parts out where there's silence at the end so it flows better, and if it wasn't for the additional youtube playlist I made because seneca's songs were youtube links I would've had them all playing in one go.
i made tiny edits with the EP I sent to 425 so it's not unprecedented :lol
(as well as Parama’s, who sent it to me)

I'm amazed that all of that fit on to one post!Yeah me too..
About this Jon Lord song - total blasphemy. One of the best songs I've ever heard and easily my favourite of the batch.Dang, that's quite serious, because that first Gilmour song was about as good as it gets for me, I guess you like that Jon Lord song an awful lot then. Tastes. For what it's worth you have triggered me to check out David Gilmour and Evergrey.

I hope you'll also check out some albums from the main rounds. I know you already tried Beyond the Bridge, but anyway, I'm always interested to see what albums clicked with people after their roulettes.Lots. In my next batch there's two albums I found out through your songs, The Scarecrow and Damnation. After that, there's still the Amadeus Awad album, the IQ album and the Absolute Priority album. Blind Guardian is a maybe, might consider it when I complete the current list.
Alright, here is my EP. This is an interesting mix of songs I’ve put together that kind of fit a loose theme. Obviously, I don’t know what Evermind or seneca sent (except I do know Evermind’s last song), but I figured that as the bridge between their two EPs, it makes total sense that mine has kind of the vibe of being a night between two days.
After Evermind’s EP fades into silence, mine begins, very softly, with an instrumental track from Irish post rock group God Is An Astronaut. This piano-driven song is called Remaining Light, and, true to its title, it really embodies the feeling of sunset. Though it is less guitar-heavy than the band’s usual work, this is a beautiful little piece that works well thematically as an instrumental intro for this mix.
The bulk of the EP, then, sandwiched between Remaining Light and another conceptual, ethereal piece, features songs from two of my favorite pop albums from the past few years. The amazing Lorde leads off with two songs from her album Pure Heroine. Released in 2013, when Lorde was just 16(!), Pure Heroine is a dreamy pop album with a strong sense of atmosphere and a heavy emphasis on the artist’s sultry vocals. The two songs I have sent from this album are 400 Lux and Buzzcut Season. 400 Lux is a dramatic song about a passionate romance that illustrates Lorde’s personality and charm in a way that still fits with the vibe of this EP. Buzzcut Season, which is in my opinion (as well as Parama’s, who sent it to me) Lorde’s finest song, explores the idea of escape through a series of memorable choruses. Both are among my favorite pop songs from the 2010s.
The unavoidable Taylor Swift follows Lorde with a couple of deep cuts from her critically acclaimed (even by non-pop-fans) 2014 album 1989. No doubt you’ve heard (or at least heard of) the lead singles Shake It Off and Blank Space, or even Wildest Dreams, which could totally fit on this EP had I chosen it. I opted to go with two of the less acclaimed tracks from this album that have a vibe that is more in keeping with the theme of this EP: This Love and Clean. This Love is a pretty little song about the emotional turmoils of romance. Clean is the closer of the 1989 album and also the beginning of the “morning” phase of this EP—the music is a bit more upbeat than the previous EP tracks and the lyrics describe the end of a personal cleansing process.
The EP concludes with a more uplifting piece from dream pop duo Beach House. This, like the EP opener, is a less hooky and more atmospheric piece than the middle four songs. The subdued female vocals, uplifting music and long, slow conclusion make it an ideal closer for both the Depression Cherry album and this, the Glowing In the Dark EP.
I hope we all introduced you to a lot of fantastic music! Thanks for running everything!
Of course I did! Remember, the only real winner in a roulette is the host. I noticed this is your first win, congrats on making the wall of fame.
Definitely do check out that album, you're also in the best position to do so because I don't see people who don't have '1989' buying the album just to listen to this in full. I respect the decision to not put music on Spotify and Youtube and all, but it makes it damn hard for me. I'm not one to buy an album really quickly as I simply don't have the money for it. Spotify has been a great alternative, I'm not gonna have the debate of whether Spotify is fair to artists here, but this will probably prevent me from listening to any of the Taylor Swift songs at all.
