Do you guys actually think it's feasible we'd see SDV? Let's not get any "I like the song"/"I dislike the song" comments this time, it could just be awesome from the standpoint of them starting a new phase in their career (well, that's been going on for quite a while now, but now it's being recorded) - one of the constants of DT was that they'd never play that song, so this phoenix rising from the ashes (because a lot of people were predicting they're screwed without MP) might throw that out of the window. Not to mention that's an awesome musical middle finger.
Perfectly feasible! Mike Portnoy was much more caught up in the mythology of it all than the other guys. Of the current lineup - James and Jordan have already played it together, Mike Mangini's the new guy and he won't have any objections if the other four are cool with it, John Myung... I can't imagine being particularly against it, so I imagine that John Petrucci would have the deciding vote. Setlists are a lot more collaborative than they used to be. If they wanted to play Space Dye Vest, they'd play Space Dye Vest.
Doesn't mean I think it's
likely, per se, but definitely plausible. If they wanted to make the night especially special, I don't think they see any taboo in the same way Mike Portnoy did. I don't think they'd ever start putting it in regular rotation, but no worries bringing it out for a special occasion. Don't know if this is necessarily that occasion, though.
