Hah, that wasn't the first or main reason I sent them, but it did occur to me in the process of choosing that you might come up with that comparison, just didn't think it would make it into the impression, lol.

Hah, that wasn't the first or main reason I sent them, but it did occur to me in the processing of choosing that you might come up with that comparison, just didn't think it would make it into the impression, lol. 

It was literally the first thing I thought of.


When I do First Impressions, I do them immediately after my First Listen and it's simply the first thing that pops in my head. I may fine tune an impression here and there, but for the most part, it's my first immediate thought.

Arch Enemy's guitar work is always fantastic, but you've expressed reservation about female growls in the past, so I wouldn't send their middle or current eras, and I'm meh on their original vocalist, and they're kind of in the category of "too iconic and obvious to send" in general, but maybe that's worth rethinking at some point.

Well, I would welcome them if it's the right song. Female harsh vocals are definitely not my thing, so I'd be cautious with that. But as far as iconic and obvious...I wouldn't think so.

I've gotten them before, so you can see how they did in my Roulette Spreadsheet.

I certainly don't dislike Damian Wilson as much as Tim does, but yeah, I like Arno a fair bit more. And the chorus on this, with the layered vocals, is beautiful

Next round is going to be fascinating.  It's probably the hardest time I've had in a roulette deciding on the right songs.  I'm happy with the artist, but they don't have just "the one great song", they have several dozen, and I keep relistening to them hoping a couple will leap out.
