to announce the new drummer. I think it would be nice to see something positive, in all the negative news we've seen lately.

Yeah I agree. But I had the impression that JP et all were dying to tell us who the new drummer was but were waiting for certain legal processes to complete. I hardly think they'd delay this sort of announcement to build suspense because that would be very silly.
on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

Yes.  Given the stuff about MP recently, plus with it being Christmas time, it would be a great time to announce the new drummer.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

I think now is perfect, plus I think everyone's already really anxious to know. I definitely agree.

This is probably a fucking joke or something. I don't take nothing seriously.

I'm tired of gettting drawn into all of the speculation as well. I think it would be a great time for an announcement.

OK, which one of you put 'Kenny from South Park' in Wikipedia?  :D

Must admit I was extremely tempted to put 'Kevin Moore' in there...

It was announced that the new drummer will be confirmed at six o'clock on a Christmas morning. Strong candidates include Jay Beckenstein from Spyro Gyra right?

That is genius, right there!  :rollin

Yes, the legal ducks have to be in a row at this point. We have seen the results of the maneuvering in several instances. Mike changing his status from ex-drummer to drummer. The delay in the announcement itself. Mike yesterday changing his own post and deleting references to new projects for 2011. The apparent struggle over who owns the name of the band. The obvious issue is being pushed out versus quitting. There is a huge difference monetarily speaking if one is pushed out of a band, rather than if one quit of their own free volition. It is patently obvious that lawyers are heavily involved at this point. The best hope for now is that the passions die down, everyone comes to their senses, and an equitable settlement is quickly reached. In a protracted struggle, only the lawyers win.

I'm predicting it wont be anytime before Christmas. last thing they need whilst trying to enjoy their Christmas holiday with their families is the internet exploding in their faces and endless phone calls etc.
heck I'm starting to think it is most likely that it will be announced just before they go into the studio: so early - mid January. That would make sense.

I have a feeling that it might not be legal stuff holding up the announcement.  I think it could be that DT is trying out the new drummer in rehearsals and maybe even demoing new song ideas and they're making sure it's definitely the right fit.  I know they had auditions, but sometimes auditions have various steps.  Maybe they're in the second phase of the audition process.

JP said that they have made their selection, but 'it'll make sense' why they couldn't announce him right away when they finally do.

Well, let's hope they have their fingers somewhat on the pulse and realize that the fan base is at this point 'running on fumes' as they say.

I think they will announce it in the new year. No need for the band to worry about the internet/emails/phone calls during Christmas time.

Edit: I HOPE THEY ANNOUNCE NOW THOUGH TOO!

Meh, I think christmas fits both because they enter the studio in January, and because we got a lot of MP-related baggage lately.

But, y'know, they could always come up with a message like:
"We just released our new album! Oh and, the name of the new drummer is inside the booklet. And maybe it's not there. Who knows?"

How about this. If Mangini is not the new drummer, you give me $800,000. However, if Mangini IS the new drummer, I'll give you an e-hug.

Well, I could really use an announcement this evening, since I'll be hanging on the forum for a couple more hours tonight. I've got nothing to do, and I'd love to be in a delirium with the rest of you guys.
