Hey everyone! It's been a while since I ran one of these. Here we go.
Goals and tastes
My last roulette was in early 2019, five years ago. Loads—and I mean loads—of shit happened since then (I even left DTF for a bit), however I bet a lot of good music was released too. And we've got a couple of new faces here too, ones that I hope will also participate and send me some new music.
And as I posted in the Roulette Tracker thread, that's gonna be the focus. I'm looking for new music to enjoy, plain and simple. I've been notoriously bad and inconsistent in checking out the new bands after my roulettes—I'll fix that after this one—and for the last few years I've been slacking on new releases too. Whenever I listen to music nowadays, I mostly either fire up my favourites or do the "Playlist of the Day" on Yandex.Music (basically a platform like Spotify but Russian—Spotify no longer works here). I could use some new music.
Tastes: this isn't going to be much of a help honestly because I'm not even sure anymore
I picked up acoustic guitar in what, 2021? Which probably contributed to the fact I like stripped down/acoustic stuff. Rock/metal is also fine but probably avoid the most generic things (proceeds to post generic things). Growls are fair game. Instrumentals are a big risk, only send them if you're really sure. I can enjoy a well-executed positive song but I definitely prefer sad/depressive music. Minor scales over major anyday.
I'm gonna post ten records that I'm spinning the most right now. This is where my tastes really are these days I suppose. I'll also post a link to a song. I can't do a playlist as Spotify won't let me log in with a VPN
Maybe someone else can put a playlist together.

Broken MirrorFormat, scoring and schedule
No limit to participants and no eliminations. I'm hoping for 16 participants but will be able to accomodate more if needed. Scoring is out of 10, highest score is 10, lowest score is 0.25.
I won't be shy using the whole grade too, 5 means the song was in fact alright. I think I was maybe a bit too generous in my previous roulettes too.
There will be 9 rounds total. Schedule-wise, I hope to finish somewhere in early July. I've got a vacation planned in July and I'll probably use it to hammer out the last two rounds writeups. I've got ample opportunities to listen to music on my commute, in the gym and on my runs which at this point take up about 7 hours a week
I think I can do a week or maybe ~10 days per round for sure, if something else comes up I'll let you guys know. I won't start listening until May 6th so you've got until the end of the week to send.
Now for the main quirk of the roulette: there will be optional themes, three for each round, and while I will assign one of them, the other two will come from the participants. However here's the thing: the themes will be vague at best and will grow more vague and deranged as the roulette progresses. You can choose a song that you think suits one of the themes, or you can forgo that entirely because remember, the focus is good music. The song that—in my opinion—fits the theme best will receive a whopping additional 1.01 points (the additional 0.01 is to minimize the chance of a tie in the end), which means that each round, there are 3.03 additional points up for grabs. In theory, your song can even smash it in two or three themes at the same time, but that probably won't happen. You don't have to specify which theme you're going for.
For the first round, I'll pick all three themes, for the second round and all the next rounds I will need your help! The two people at the bottom of the leaderboard will provide the themes for Round 2 and so on. However as the goal is to let each person select a theme at least once, if you've already picked a theme the next person ahead of you will pick one. If we manage to have 16 participants that means everyone will have a chance to choose a theme during the roulette. If we get more, then the last few rounds will have more than three themes.
You can obviously pick a theme tailored for your song in hopes of getting that additional point as long as the theme is within the guidelines. When the results are posted, I'll PM the guidelines for the theme-pickers (the guidelines will probably change each round).
TAC Wildcard rule applies. Once during the roulette, you can send me two songs, I'll listen once and pick one of them.
We'll do hangman and other stuff to pass the time while I'm listening but it won't have any bearing on the roulette scores.
Themes
Once again, there are three themes each round. No explanations, just go for it.

How to send
If you can, please send files. If you can't, the band name and song title will suffice. You can send YouTube, Spotify or anything else, but I will have to find the files anyway.
If you're inclined to send via e-mail, go with either dtfevermind@gmail[dot]com or larredle@yandex[dot]ru, both are fine.
Participants / Scoreboard
I'm including people who posted in the Roulette Tracker thread but better confirm it here too.

This is basically my attempt at a minimalistic roulette with a quirk, which is why I didn't do a giant-ass post. Hopefully this works.
