I don't think you're gonna like it.  But it was used in an episode of The O.C., which was parodied on SNL and thus became a bit of a meme.  Part of the lore does tie it into Lost though, so maybe you'd appreciate that connection.

It sounds a bit familiar. I did watch a bit if The OC back in the day, but don't remember it from an episode. I LOVE Lost though, how does it tie into that?

I've been meaning to watch Lost for a while, but a friend insists there's just too much filler and it's kinda not worth it, so

Make up your own mind man, don't be his puppet! I personally wouldn't say there is too much filler at all.

The plot gets quite convoluted and what could be perceived as filler actually isn't. The problem is that a lot of mysteries don't get solved until the final series (some not at all). Lots of viewers gave up before finishing the series so that's where that comes from. There is one weird episode that is a filler episode, but that is literally the only one.

Each episode also has flashbacks, which at times are a little frustrating as they take you out of the main story, but they are generally all relevant and littered with clues and hints as to what the fuck is actually going on.

If you stick with it you will be rewarded, and what I love about it, is that aside from all the weird, crazy shit that happens it is still a story about the characters, and they are generally developed really well, with all their strengths and weaknesses on show. It's even more astounding when you think of the size of the cast.

Just do it already.

Glad you're back Rich, as you are spot on. Let's avoid spoilers, as I'm hoping Lucas might actually watch the show, but yes the ending Soupy is alluding to is not what actually happened. As you said, everything that happened, happened.

The filler episode is in series 2 I think, the one with Nikki and Paulo (characters who just seem to appear for this one episode), I think it's called Exposé or something.

I suppose it is not all filler, but I think it's as close as the series gets. There are maybe some filler-ish moments in the final season, but that's about it.

Lost is also the absolute master of the final scene of an episode hooking you to watch "one more". So many WFT moments at the end of episodes!

Oh man so much Lost talk in here. I've seen the OC parody and it's hilarious, one of my favorite SNL sketches. I never knew about the Lost one but that was good too.

Lost is in my top 5 all time shows. I did a rewatch a few years ago and it's held up even better than I remembered it.

Not going to flood this thread with additional discussion but just wanted to add that the writers wanted to end the show in season 3 or 4 as they thought it had run its course, the network refused to let them stop and asked to add more episodes and seasons.


Viewers hated the Paolo and Nikki episode so much that the showrunners decided to get rid of them. I think they had longer arcs planned for them but changed their minds when they saw the negativity.

I don't think the flash sideways timeline actually happened, but it helps you make sense of everything else (or for some people, make less sense of it).
