thirdpressions my dudes

1.

1. Bold of you to start your album with one of its strongest tracks. Wait, there’s nothing bold about that at all, that should be expected.
2. There’s a big sticking point about this one for me, but besides that it’s… fine, if not a bit underwhelming.
3. Stylistically right up my alley and I like it a fair bit but I’m still waiting for it to really “click” for me.
4. Okay, I admit I might have been wrong.
5. This is fine enough, I suppose, but it doesn’t work for me in the way that the best of this type of music does and I find it a bit uncompelling, even.

2.

1. There’s a side of this song I quite like, and then a side of it I’m kind of turned off by. Take a wild guess which side is more prominent.
2. Vaguely cheating, but I suspect this is more up my alley than most of this artist’s other stuff anyways.
3. This was already my favorite song of the round on first listen and it’s only gotten better on relistens. Really cool stuff.
4. Much better than what I was expecting from this.
5. This isn’t really bad at all but it’s a very uninspiring iteration of a well-worn sound. Still like it well enough but I doubt it’ll stick with me.

3.

1. A very straightforward song but effective at what it does. Bold of you to st- I already used that joke.
2. I didn’t “get” this song on first listen and didn’t like it very much as a result. I “get” it now, but I still wouldn’t consider it a favorite, or even close.
3. Ah, here we go, finally! A song in this roulette that’s completely ruined for me by the lyrics!
4. Can’t say I’ve ever heard a song quite like this one. I like it, but… actually yeah, that’s it.
5. This is basically cheating. Can’t say I’m complaining though, it’s the best song here.

i have a decently structured ranking in my mind. i know this because it's been the same ranking all three times.
also, i read the lyrics during the third listens, so
i'm definitely gonna comment on the concepts when i do my final writeups, even if they won't massively factor into scores or rankings

i looked at some other setlists and it seems like they have played shorter sets elsewhere so you may not get the same full set but most setlists have at least the first single & title track on it alongside an as-of-yet unnamed instrumental

anyways i'll update hangmeme tomorrow morning & also tomorrow night i'm gonna do the first writeup, results starting on saturday. pretty sure i already know who the winner is but i plan to post results in randomly-generated order just to keep the suspense going a little longer
