Then one police officer comes around to do some routine questions .. and instead of calmly answer their questions and carry on as normal...

they just kill the police officer so now they're DEFINITELY guilty...

Not really a controversial movie opinion, but I don't think it deserves its own thread, so I'll put it here since it is close enough:  Samuel L. Jackson is not that great an actor.  I mean, he can be at times, and he has had some great performances.  But it is now getting to the point where I feel like I have seen him do far more bland performances than great or even good ones.  I think the problem is that he basically just plays himself, i.e. a loud/angry/opinionated yet somewhat funny guy with no filter, UNLESS he has a strong script AND a very strong personality in the director's chair who can stand up to him and say, "No, Sam.  Try it this way."  The problem is, he has attained such a status that I don't think there are many directors out there who are willing and able to do that.  So rather than being the character, he is content being Sam Jackson with the character's name attached.  That's my take, for what it's worth.  And, to me, it's a shame too because it feels like wasted potential.  He is clearly capable of delivering solid, emotional performances given the right circumstances.

I wouldn't say "hysterical," but now that you mention it, I thought that was one of his better recent performances.  But going back to my main point, I think this is consistent with that in that Django had a very strong personality in the director's chair.

I thought he was great in Django, mostly because his performance wasn't overdone. He played the sneaky, traitorous Stephen character very well. I really wanted him to meet a nasty end.

I don't think he was very good in the Star Wars prequels, but that may have been more to do with the direction and dialogue he was given, as bosk mentioned.

A Time To Kill is one of his best for me.

I think the problem with Samuel L Jackson is that he tends to play the same character, a badass mothafucka who does cool things and swears a lot. I also think it's the Morgan Freeman syndrome, but to a lesser extent where the guy shows up everywhere and you get fatigued.

Speaking of Morgan Freeman, I feel like he has unfortunately become almost a joke or meme at this point. Not his acting, but whenever he shows up in a movie, I always burst out laughing and go "Of course Morgan Freeman is in this", because it feels like he does 2 films per month.

I just watched the Nolan batmans, Morgan J Freeman is good in those, but he's the same guy as always, innit.

Hardy's Bane > Ledger's Joker.

The only Batman movie I saw was with Michael Keaton and it blew.

The first one wasn't THAT bad. But I pretty much agree with you about the second one, and the ones with Val Kilmer and George Clooney.

But I never saw the second one!

Joel Shulmaker was not skilked?  Take a look at his movies before. He had quite a few good movies. I think he was influenced by WB and that was why he was brought in.

He later said he messed up.

I saw it a second time last night, it was still good. I probably like it more than Django. But his top 3 for me would probably be Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill (both of them).
