Images & Words, First Grade
« on: November 14, 2013, 07:30:37 PM »
I did not know exactly where to put this, so mods, do as you wish. Just something I thought some would get a kickout of. .and well us DT peeps can sometimes not control ourselves.

OK, short backstory, I have twin 7 year old sons, both developmentally behind since birth. Both born VERY prematurely at 28 weeks and about 1 1/2 pounds each. That said, it has been a tuff road. They have made AMAZING strides. and are now in 1st grade. 1 year ago, they were at a less than pre school level.

So today we meet with their 1st grade teacher for the annual teacher conference. Both are doing amazing. So sitting there the teacher says, Aidan & Tristan (my sons) both use images and words at a third grade level. WEll I lost it. My ex and the teacher thought I was nuts. :mehlin :mehlin :mehlin Just one of those things that hit ya.

Oh, and so, I now listen to Metropolis, on my deck in 30 degree weather witha cigar and a diet Mountain Dew, celebrating Images & Words!

I remember one parent / teacher evening...

My parents sat down...The headteacher came in looking very concerned...

...It took him a good few minutes before he could even make eye contact.

...He sighed and then he finally mustered up the courage to face my parents and say...

" Mister and Mrs Oakes ? I'm afraid young David...

...is the first dancing turtle. "

And myself, I was always the sleeper.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.
Yep. I think the only party in the MP/DT situation that hasn't moved on is DTF.

In high school my buddies and I built a Van Der Graaf generator.  You know, to get girls.

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.
