Ah, i forgot to mention, if you liked Endtroducing, you should check Massive Attack and Portishead, some of the best trip hop out there. They certainly fit your criteria.
Made a Spotify playlist with all your recs guys, with the most popular songs from each artists/album. Madvilain has some interesting retro samples, but I don't dig the vocals too much - it's like the singer was either bored or refraining himself from putting more energy into his singing. But I found myself liking Kanye West's
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, I think that's the nearest rec I found that somehow met my weird criteria of songwriting/variety
. Kind of like the vocals a bit too.
And the band in bold really stood out for me - I love some trip-hop elements in my music, and what I've listened of
Dummy so far has been great. Massive Attack never clicked with me for some reason, although I enjoy some of their tunes. The rest of your recs weren't bad, will give them more listens to see if they grow on me - will report later. Thank you guys
.
