that in 45 minutes, Dream Theater would change my musical life forever!
I saw probably my greatest concert on June 8, 1992:

Seriously, nothing's been the same since seeing Dream Theater that night. Oh, and Iron Maiden was spectacular. Nice small stage and they just blew me away,

And what a journey it had been. Damn does time fly but I bet you remember it like it was yesterday.

I am quite jealous of this but did IM and DT tour together or just play this show or a few? I always wanted my two favorite bands to tour together and i saw them twice when they finally did on the MP "farewell" tour.
-
Ohh man......the things i would do to be able to witness that concert! :hefdaddy
Was DT support for the whole FOTD tour or only that day?
Edit: I actually got some shivers when reading that ticket!
-
That's basically the gig to end all gigs.
-
Glad to say I've seen 'em both in the past few years. :hat
I'd say I'm jealous, but I was only 7 at the time, so I doubt I would have appreciated the show at the time anyway. :P

Steve´s T-shirt FTW!

It was a pre tour warm up gig. DT opened the Ritz show only. From there Maiden went to Canada and to the west coast. They cut the tour short. I believe Testament may have opened the west coast dates.
-
Was a great show. Both bands were killer!
-
I'm curious, did you originally go just for IM? Or did you already know of DT by that time?

Yes and no.. Just Maiden. Maiden was easily my favorite band at the time. I had never heard of DT .. Kinda.
TAC's college radio story again :yeahright
In college I did the metal show at my college radio station. In 1989, I was going through the new release bin and I came across this album by a band called Dream Theater. It was WDADU. I thought Dream Theater was a great name for a band. I sampled it " on cue". It was interesting, but the album cover was so gay, and the band pic was even gayer! So I put it down and the episode was erased from my memory.
So when I saw them open for Maiden, in my mind I had never heard of them or remembered.
It wasn't untill a couple years later when I ordered their "first" album that whenever I opened it and saw THAT cover. I was Holy Shit that's the band I sampled in college. I was in complete shock!

Was I the only one expecting the post to read "Sgt Pepper taught the band to play"?

You can't blame us, though. I'm sure that was an amazing concert, but "It was 20 years ago today" is the first lyric of one of the most iconic albums of all time. Of course it's gonna come to mind :D
-
It's all good.
-
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

You should fix that.

It was also God compelling you to skip on Yellow Submarine, because Sgt. Pepper and Revolver are infinitely better.
