The special edition cover is pretty ordinary, but the regular edition is just amazing.  I guess I answered my own question when asking "who would only buy the 1cd edition."  Now, I will be buying both!

Honestly, I don't care for the new album covers all that much. They seem...too over done. I really liked album covers for The Diving Wings of Tragedy or The Damnation Game the best. The art style fit their music a lot better if you ask me.

I don't know, the art style is cool and all. But it just doesn't feel like "Symphony X" to me. But I'm judging a book by it's cover. I'm sure the album will kick multitudes of ass.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

I like both of them and I think they'll fit the music; but I don't like either of them enough that I would buy another edition of the album just so I could have the other artwork.

Me: "How?"

I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

Maybe the special edition has a slip case and we'll get both anyway.

I'm a bit mad like that.

Maybe the special edition has a slip case and we'll get both anyway.

This would be perfect.

This. Though I'd like to have it on-hand at the concert just in case I catch the band

Nick please tell me you're going to the Philly show

I am not. Though I love Symphony X live like you wouldn't believe I've seen them 5 times at this point and am using the money I would have spent on them on bands I've seen a lot less of. Plus I know they'll do more legs and I'll have an opportunity again later in the tour to see them.

Saw them the other night in Sheffield for the third time (First time as headliners). They were incredible, as I expected. The sound quality was a bit shit though, I could hear the guitar perfectly on the support band (Power Quest, who were a bit samey throughout but had some awesome solos) yet when it came to SX there were loads of times when I was watching Allen only to turn to Romeo, see him playing and realise I couldn't really hear what he was doing, despite knowing what it was from my knowledge of the songs.

Anyway apart from that the show rocks, Allen recemented himself as the best frontman I've seen live, he sang with passion and energy and connected with loads of the audience plenty of times, singing stuff directly to them or you know, grabbing his cock and waggling it around at the dude next to me :rollin The setlist was great too, I know maybe about 40% of their catalogue so I'm by no means the kinda fan who knows every song and I wondered whether they'd play lots I didn't know, but I knew every song at least fairly well to I love this inside out. The set was short though, at the end before the encore they just got up and left, and it wasn't clear what was going on, so we kinda thought oh yeah, this is a short break lol before the second half. But it was before the encore which contained two songs, so that was a shame not to know the final song was the final song.

Oh yeah, and I got Rullo's stick :P He threw three into the crowd, and the fourth directly to me, which I managed to catch (can't catch in real life but at gigs I seem to do pretty well :P). Ahh the benefits of being an attractive female on the barrier at a prog gig... same thing happened when I saw DT in Blackburn too, so now I have a set of sticks from those guys :D

Can't wait to go see them again when they tour the new album.
Every story needs to have an ending, we might as well give up all this pretending and clear the air...

Woah. EPIC SONG.

Wow!  I am very, very impressed by this song!  The chorus alone is fucking killer, but the guitar/keyboard duel in the middle and the long, epic ending just make this song all sorts of awesome!  I really like the main riff too, kinda reminds me of Orion - The Hunter from Twilight in Olympus.  Hell, this whole song is just all sorts of pure win.  I could not be more impatient then I am right now awaiting the release of this album!   :metal

I've actually seen a number of chicks at Symphony X shows.  Actually, in my experience, chicks seem to dig Symphony X more then DT.  I'm not entirely sure why this is, but I think it is partially due to the whole symphonic/gothic trappings of SX that make them somewhat similar to bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation and such; and it is partially due to the fact SX has a more grove based style of riffing, which makes their songs more rhythmically consistent (read: danceable).  My girlfriend really likes Symphony X, but she can't stand Dream Theater with the exception of a handful of songs.

EDIT:  Of course, I'm referring to single women; I see girls with their boyfriends/husbands at DT shows all the time, but I find single chicks are much more common in the Symphony X crowd.

Well, that and the fact that Rullo plays with his shirt off a lot of the time.

I have a feeling this is going to be their best album.

Very impressed with the songs thus far.

Amufugud, I totally forgot about the new SymphX album. Liking Prometheus so far...Allen's vocals seem a little more gruff to begin with to me, I suppose I'll have to wait to hear the album itself to make a decision.

Any way, so excited :caffeine:
