Some other concert-specific notes for Reno:
-This venue was AMAZING! Jordan said he is not crazy about the idea of playing casinos and doesn't really like that aspect of it. But I hope he softens to it and the other band members don't mind, because this theater was fantastic, and other casinos have really nice theaters as well. I get that it might feel kinda cheesey. But in this day and age, casinos have really upped the ante by adding nice theater venues that are geared toward putting on really great concerts, and it has become the norm to play those kinds of venues. I hope the band embrace it. The other members seemed to like the venue.
-You could not have a bad seat in this place, I'm pretty convinced. Even the front-most seats were elevated so that you could clearly see the stage over the standing floor area. I think that area might even serve as an orchestra pit for shows that use an orchestra. But for this show, it was a standing pit, and it was great. Did I mention that a mosh pit started during Pull Me Under?
Going back to that, I don't mean that people were just energetic and bouncing around. People were actually
moshing in the area in between James and JP during PMU, and they were moshing HARD. But I do have to say, it is the only concert I have been to where people were moshing, but to a person, everyone was really courteous about it. I mean, yeah, people were slamming into each other and pushing, and knocking each other around. But everybody was smiling and into it, and nobody was taking cheap shots. And if someone started to go down, there were immediately several sets of hands holding them up before they could hit the floor. It was SO much fun. I was out of breath by the time the song was over.
-Not something the general public would have known, but the backstage area was HUGE! I think it was bigger than the seating area of the theater. And there were sets and props for all kinds of different productions. I think they must have quite a few shows running all at once or something. It was kinda neat hanging out back there afterwards among all the props (including a full sized plane) and neon and stuff.
-I met some really cool people there from the Bay Area and Sacramento area. Hope they join up here. Just to again give another example of how cool this band is, this one guy met Jordan walking around the casino before the show, and he was telling me how cool it was that Jordan just sat down and had a
conversation with him rather than just a quick flyby handshake, and Jordan even invited the guy to come hang out at the after show. I just love these guys. I really do.
