It's really no surprise though is it?  I didn't even raise an eyebrow.  Couldn't see bugger all people going let alone knowing who they both were.

It's not a shock at all, but I figured they were aiming so low here that they might just manage it. Oh well.

I'm also interested to know how much money the artists would have made from something like this at best.

Ted Poley song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f6-2WHMB0Us

The vocals have no balls, and it's the usual cookie cutter songwriting, but I like the bassy production and the song isn't too bad for that kind of thing. If the whole album sounds like this, it might make some pleasant enough background music.

Yeah, it kinda is.  I'm hopeful for this new Sunstorm though.  The Defiants should be good too.

I dig the Sunstorm song and I'm looking forward to that album, but the Defiants ones to me sounded even weaker than the Ted Poley one (not by a whole lot). The Ted Poley song has grown on me. It's very standard stuff of course, but I had the chorus stuck in my head last night, and I think I'll enjoy the album, as long as they don't have too many ballads. It's always the damn ballads that ruin them. :lol

It's like it's a mandatory thing in the contract to have 2 or 3 really sappy ballads.  They are still decent half the time, but pussy as hell.

I'll check the Ted Poley, but not expecting anything at all really.

2 or 3 ballads has been par for the course with melodic rock/hair metal since forever - I'm fine with it as long as they're not dialled in.  Anyway , The Astonishing has more ballads on it than the entire Frontiers catalogue :neverusethis:

I'm a sucker for good ballads, even if they are cheesy as fuck. Problem is that nowadays most of the ballads are only cheesy and not good.

And yeah, the rocker/ballads ratio is important too.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

Hugo has been MIA for ages afaik aside from some cover band stuff.........will see if I can find anything else out.

Harnell spent recent times touring with Skid Row , before being given the ass just recently.  There is a new Starbreaker on the way though  :metal   He also does plenty of acoustic gigs and has been producing/promoting a chick called Rachel Lorin.

Skid Row? Really? I had no idea. How was it? Did you hear any of live material? Starbreaker was a great listen, so I'd love to hear more of that. I still listen to the Morning Wood album all of the time. At one point I had everything he ever did on CD, but lost track after that Morning Wood CD came out.

I couldn't find much on Hugo. I still crank that Valentine CD. There's something about those songs that make them forever embedded in my mind. After that, it was Open Skyz and then his two solo albums. I lost track of him after that.

There's live footage all over Blabbermouth/Youtube if you search for it - he got canned pretty hard by the fans though.  I think he may have done okay on new material but he didn't really fit the Bach material.   Was it you I got the Morning Wood for John?  - I remember sending it along to someone on DTF.

Hugo hasn't done much outside what you listed.  There are a few releases you may want to track down though:

1) there was a 3rd Hugo solo release
2) there was a Valentine reunion album in 2008 (Soul Salvation)
3) There was a Hugo/Ramos album (Ramos being the guitarist from The Storm) which wasn't too bad

Yes, that was you who sent me the Morning Wood. That doesn't sound good, but it'll get a good laugh.

I remember hearing about Soul Salvation. Now that you mentioned the name, it rings a bell. I'm not sure if I checked it out though. I'll look for it. Thanks for the other Hugo heads ups though. I'll look for those, too.

Serious.

Google Robert Mason and DT  -  if memory serves their manager wanted Mason before they went for JLB (or something like that)

There would probably be less complaints about DT's singer not having any balls anyway  :lol

Seriously though - Mason has always been a fave of mine and hasn't lost much over the years.  It's a shame he has such a tiny dis-cock-graphy  :neverusethis:.

Have you heard the second (s/t) Lynch Mob album?   That'd be the obvious one to go for.
