I sent 7 artists this time. This is my second concept album. How do those who have been doing this for a while approach them? Do you come up with a story first and then find songs to fit? Do you have a list of songs first?
pfft... lightweight. 18 artists; 20 songs. Even the shortened version is 10 artists; 12 songs.
Well he did ask for it to be around 60 minutes.
Usually I pick two or three songs I wanna use that go together, come up with a general story path, then pick songs that could fit it to flesh out the narrative, and I write up the full concept once I'm done
I went into puppies' concept album round with an idea of what I wanted to do but this is what I did for TAC's and ariich's concept albums
I approach things the same way. I couldn't re-use the idea I had for Puppers, cuz most of those artists were banned.
For Puppies roulette, I definitely felt overwhelmed. Just scrolling through my collection making notes of songs that weren't banned took a long time. I don't think it was the lowest scoring EP and that was good enough for me because I really felt like I didn't know what I was doing.
For this one, I had an idea pretty early on, and absolutely love what I sent musically, and have listened to it a lot over the last few days. But I don't feel confident in coming up with stories. I came up with something based on the lyrics, but feel like my write up should be way longer. Like there are things I need to flesh out way more, but of course I'm not writing a novel and even if I did TAC probably wouldn't have time to read it.
Then again, I suppose I could have a sequel to it in a future roulette.
