I like the films, but I feel that in some ways (and I know this will sound condescending but I don't intend it that way), I have outgrown them.
In other words, they spoke to me at a very specific time of my life. I love them, but they aren't the same anymore for me, as a group.
But Dogma is awesome.
I can see that. That comedy is specific and mostly toilet humor so I can see how one would grow out of it.
My rankings:
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (this is actually my favorite movie of all time although that opinion changes, Kevin Smith was also in the movie theater on release day when I was there to see it (he was walking out as I walked in, I've always wondered why he was there)
Mallrats - My high school english teacher grew up with the guys and Ben Affleck stayed at his house while filming since he was not yet famous
Clerks 2 - The beginning is essentially a drive down route 35 which is the main highway that runs through my town and to Red bank
Dogma - and to Red Bank where the Church is and I had one of my first make out sessions with a girl on a bench outside that church.
Clerks - My high school English teacher's sister is the girl who comes into the store when the muscle guy is in there giving them a speech about getting in shape.
Chasing Amy - Also filmed in Red Bank, the apartment they live in is on top of a CD store that was really awesome, bought all my used Van Halen albums there! It's also across the street from their comic book and movie memorabilia store Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash.
