And, off we go. Can't find an option to email last year's participants so this is the only notice. Using your DTF username will keep some of us from cursing you on a regular basis.

Totally forgot I won this last year. Signed up!
-
Sure, why not.
-
I had one week - ONE WEEK! - where I forgot picks and it took me out of contention. I'm setting reminders and notices, and THAT mistake won't happen again!
-
Giddyup.

What I loved about this were two things: it gave me digital proof on line in a league that I had been in for years (because I did the same picks in a handwritten league),....and.... to show that I do know a thing or two as to my knowledge of picking games, even though I do not offer many opinions on the NFL thread.
Stadler.......I sympathize. I was holding my own, staying within a few games of second, plus or minus a game or three of you throughout the season, even after CoolChris grabbed an insurmountable lead. And then I missed a Thursday night pick and two Saturdays near the end. I stupidly went really crazy on my picks the last couple of weekends to try and make up ground (like an idiot.....FAIL !).
Went from 3rd to 6th somewhat quickly. Still proud of what I did in the end.
And....if you look at the 'survivor' pool.....Dr.DVDT and I set a record for the longest tie before his ultimate win. BUT....I picked the Browns to beat the Chargers in Week 16 (won five bills on that one).....so, I feel I get a free pass this entire season if I make a totally goofy pick or two ;)

Same here. A buddy and I have been doing this nearly 25 years playing for a bottle of firewater. We switched to this online version for simplicity. There is a downside, though. Things become quite a bit more strict. In the old days if one of us got a pick in late it wasn't really a problem. We've both overslept and whatnot, and neither of us are going to cheat the other. Thursday night at 7:45:
Dude, you know there's a game, right?
What? Fuck. Uh, Bengals.
Alrighty, then.
-
A marathon, not a sprint, but finally, for one week, I sit alone atop the leader board.
(will try not to let any Dodgeritis become involved....)
-
Picking up where I left off last season, I am doing terribly.
-
Eh, I wouldn't go that far. It's early.
And something I just noticed, Houston and Cincinnati have let down every participant in the first two weeks.
-
Apparently last week was pretty easy to pick - 4-way tie with 13 correct calls.
Methinks this week is gonna be a tad tougher.
-
I'm doing terrible. What else is new?
I'll stick through until the end though, unlike SOME people who do poorly...
-
WOW... lots of upsets this week. I thought I was doing shit, but I guess my ballsy pics to take Wash and Tenn paid off.
-
^
The only person with double digit wins (only two others above .500), and you're now leading the pack.
I'll try to remember leading the first two weeks, as I slowly slide into my normal 3rd-6th place position.
-
I thought I did shit this week... then I saw how everyone else did.
:omg:
What a f'd up week. This week doesn't look any more 'predictable' either.
-
Yeah I am getting smoked. Looks like last year was just beginner's luck for me.
-
Week 5 was the toughest to pick I've seen in ages. I did quite well. Last week was as easy as they come and I got clobbered. Five consensus picks losing is something else.

This looks like fun. Remind me next September to have a go at this.
-
I don't think I've ever successfully picked the Patriots to lose. No matter how lopsided the game appears to be they find a way to win. Falcons v. weak Patriots D missing half its secondary. Right. Thankfully, this was not a money-game.
When I first started doing this .750 was the good benchmark. That was your hundred yard game, and what you expected to do each week. With free agency and the parity it introduced that dropped down to .666. I was disappointed when that became the norm. It looks bad. Now the first place team is batting .647. In ten years we'll be into coin-toss territory.
-
And there goes the lead. The odd-ball picks I made this week - because that's the way the NFL had been this year - did not pay off (9rs and Falcons). Plus, I think Denver is my kryptonite.... I'm 1-5 with their games.
-
This entire week is a trap. Pretty easy to pick, I blew through it in about 30 minutes, but there aren't many of the games I actually feel good about. I see 8 games that could go the wrong way and not surprise me in the least.

30 minutes!! :omg: Shit man, I haven't spent 30 minutes on the entire season. I make my picks on Tuesday mornings in about 2 minutes or less, and rarely change anything. Gut feel only. Zero research or review.

Yeah, everybody's going to have their own routine. Myself, I enjoy spending an hour or so on a chilly Sunday morning drinking coffee and picking games. Gut feeling certainly plays a big part in it, but a few minutes of research can win you some games that don't work out the obvious way.

Oh for sure... like when I picked Oakland a few weeks back not knowing that Carr was injured!

I'm somewhere in between. 95% gut, unless there's a key injury. I'll usually check the status of guys like Ben, or, when he was playing, Andrew, but for the most part, gut. And I RARELY (if ever) change a pick unless there is a major injury in the meantime. I have a tendency to overthink this crap, and that leads to 5 win weeks.
-
Apparently it *was* an easy week to pick. Finally a week where pretty much everyone that was supposed to win.
-
I've been + or - 2 games of 1st place all year......and then I do a total mother clunking 6-7 week  I mean, wow :tdwn
-
The problem now is that there aren't a ton of games that can separate - or close - the pack. For someone like me - in the middle of the hunt - I basically have to hope that a) someone above me tanks two or three weeks in a row, and b) I don't tank those same weeks. It's a tall order.
-
Well, I somewhat righted the ship last weekend. I did my part of slipping the previous weekend. Time for those above us to follow suit one time.

Nice little fight with Rattlehead for first place. I've tied the dude numerous times, but have yet to overtake him. Needed last night to tie him again after losing one Sunday. Pogo and DA are still in the running, as well. If I'm not mistaken, all previous winners, to boot.
Got a similar battle going on in my money league, but I'm Rattlehead over there with a 3 game lead at the moment.
-
I've moved up to a tie for third, but I basically have no shot beyond that, other than bragging rights.
-
Horrible week. My long shot picks didn’t come in, and the “sure things” weren’t so “sure”.
-
Forgot to update my picks for the early slate of games today, so we'll see how my all home team selection goes.

It might actually get you a bonus win, as you probably wouldn't have picked NYG under normal circumstances. It'll likely be offset by that Cleveland thing, though.

In 25+ years of doing this I've never had a perfect week. Jingle is 14-0 right now with two easily makable picks remaining. Ain't gonna help him none, but still pretty remarkable.

Kinda compensates for the week I got 4... and that wasn't because I missed submitting my early picks!
-
I've had my share of 3-13s and 14-2s. Think I had a 15-1 once. Upon further recollection, I don't think I've ever even seen a 16-0, though. It's plenty hard to do, as you'll probably find out when Tampa pulls off a miracle upset thanks to a 97 yard kick return with 9 laterals.

No shit right... the margin between a W and an L sometimes is so slim - as evidenced by Pitt/NE today

The 'index card' measurement?
omg, that was frickin' hilarious to watch
Next thing you know, they'll have a standard credit card sized object (aka Leslie Nielson in 'Naked Gun') on a key chain, attached to their belt, for similar type of rulings in the future. :D

And still only middle of the pack :lol. Weeks 11 and 12 killed me when I was 4-6 points behind everyone for both weeks. A little luck this week sure helped, but with a lot of 13s on the board, there weren't a lot of surprises.
Time to see how bad I can suck it this week.
-
Yeah, but...Mister Costanza, I've never done it, and truly doubt I ever will. The perfect response to a perfect week.
-
Kudos to Jingle; no doubt about it this wasn't a gimme week.
-
Merry Christmas, Rattlehead. Be sure and drink a toast to my carelessness.
Had I imported my picks from the other league I'd have picked a game up with Cinci.
-
Oh dude... why not at least put SOMETHING in for your picks so you don't miss/forget a deadline.

There's a reason, but it hardly matters now. I do make default picks for oddball games. Thur, Sat, and London games I pick at the beginning of the year. As for everything else I make Sunday morning in my money league and just import them into my DTF league. Busy Christmas eve morning I just forgot.
Damn shame in this case as I finally would have taken the lead for the first time this year.

I'm actually more disappointed than anything, it was fun to battle over the 1st place spot with you. Plus if I do end up winning, it won't feel right since you missed those picks.
-
Not sure why I opened this thread, but did Chad really go 16-0 in a week? That's beyond impressive, not sure I've ever seen anyone do that before.

Yeah, sorry. I feel worse about fucking up your potential victory than not winning myself.
Unofficially (the season's yours) I picked up 1 game on you. I had Cinci and the rest of our picks were the same. That would have been my first lead of the season, I believe.

My first try last year, without knowing that predictions continued on through the playoffs until after the WildCard weekend. So, I still have a chance this year. As is, I'm pretty proud of a 2nd or 3rd place finish in such a topsy turvy season (unless someone lower goes 16 and 0. One never knows.......)

This is only my second year doing this. Is an 8 point differential at this stage between the top 6 standard? Seems like a tight race.

Most 16 game weeks you're lucky to get more than a 2 game swing. Making up 4 games in a week is highly unlikely. Since you'd have to string together several 2 or 3 game swings over a few weeks, Rattlehead (and formerly myself) had this mostly wrapped up a week or two ago. This seems to me pretty typical and not particularly tight anymore.

(actually, tied for 4th, but.....)
It's the 'new math' ;) Meanwhile, Murphy Brown fires yet another proofreader.....
-
Very impressed by jingle going 16-0 earlier. Best I managed during the few weeks I tried doing this was 12-4. Then of course I followed it up the following week with a 4-12 record. Oh well. The NFL giveth, and the NFL taketh away.
I definitely would like to join this next year. I discovered it too late to take part this year.
-
Congrats to Rattlehead for winning the regular season championship. (darn, I went 8-8 to lose out on a 2nd place finish).
A reminder that playoff picks still continue...one never knows how the final standings could turn out. Someone might do a jingleboy, be perfect, and move way up

Wow 5 2-2s and 3 1-3s. Everyone picked KC and LAR.
-
Yeah.... fugly choices. I'm actually surprised there wasn't a legitimate 0-4.
-
I'm not at all surprised that everyone took the Chiefs, but I'm kind of stunned there wasn't at least one Atlanta pick. I know they haven't been playing well, but in one game, Ryan/Jones is something to be reckoned with. I honestly thought the Rams would step up, but alas I was wrong.
Couldn't have been happier about that NO-Carolina game.
-
I went 2-2 straight and 2-2 ATS (we pick both in the playoffs). Crappy week, but pretty much par for the course. Generally good teams make it to the playoffs and there's a lot of parity. It's pretty common for us to go 7-1 one weekend and 2-6 the next.
-
Holy crap, I'm the ONLY person to pick the Vikes today? WOW. I mean, I'm glad I'm wrong, because my heart is in New Orleans, but my brain was convinced Minnesota was going to win this at home.
Cool Chris is on fire, by the way, if New Orleans keeps this lead.
EDIT: I gooched you! :)
-
Reminder that the conference championship game picks need to be placed.....
Playoffs: so far, seven of eight games have been in doubt with less than three minutes, so I don't understand the complaining about the games not being good. Granted, J'ville-Buffalo was not something one puts into a time machine as to QB play, but it was always a one score game. Philly-Atlanta.....that was my favorite game so far.
I remember making my picks last week: I took Philly in a chilly, outdoor stadium against the Falcons. There were reasons other than Wentz that they went 13-3. Came down to one defensive stop. I took the Saints....not because I was dismissing the Vikings, but because it was in a dome.
This week: temps are now in the 40s, 50s tomorrow. That will help the Vikes. I think that's why they win it.
Been dismissive of the Jaguars up until the latter half of the season. They haven't been on the radar for years, and their unis suck worse than the Bucs and Bengals. Coughlin has really made the difference. But...how do you bet against the NE regime?
I really want to hold onto third place.........
-
