Damn, I just remembered why deferred rendering was an issue for this level, because it gets rid of the fudged realtime shadows I had on the first half of the level.
So now I have to waste time tweaking lights instead of programming.

Is this a game you're working on?

I'm making a video of a game, so I'm only technically making a game to make the video. :lol It just turned out easier to make a real game and record it, than to fake it and animate it.

Yes, I'm a strange one. :blob:

Nothing wrong with that.  That's like listening to John Petrucci explain how he did the solo for Misunderstood.

I believe the answer to that is "magic".

Even though I'm not a great programmer, and this code is kinda sucky, I'm proud of this so far. It actually almost looks legit!

You'll be able to see it, it's just a matter of when I manage to finish it. I'm such a bad worker. This is not news to anyone here. :lol

Food is more important than words. Unless it involves effort. In which case it's still more important.

Effort means walking down the street to McDonalds which I don't even really want.  Actually, I was going to continue reading A Dance With Dragons, but I decided to find a book about web design so I can finally put together my bootleg trading/dream theater collection site.

Is your website going to look like 1997?

Probably to start it will.  Mainly because I want to get it up and running as soon as possible.  As I do more reading and learn more, I'll definitely be upgrading it.

Not to mention they're obsolete. :lol They belong in DTF's latest April Fool's Day theme.

I somehow accidentally got distracted from work by watching a random episode of Star Trek.

I never got into Star Trek believe it or not.  It surprises people that a geek like me never really watched it.

What Trek have you watched? And what scifi are you into?

It took me a while to get into Trek, but now I love it.

I remember watching a couple of the movies when I was younger... Wrath of Khan comes to mind.  I'm not a big sci-fi person though; I lean more towards fantasy.

Then you're not a real geek at all!

I'm much more into scifi than fantasy, although I like fantasy too if it's done well. Like most good scifi, Trek works a lot better on TV than it does in film. I enjoy most of the movies, but even at best they don't compare to the series imo.

I know. How dare I!

Maybe one of these days I'll sit down and watch the show from the beginning.  Or maybe I'll just keep talk about doing it and watch Big Bang Theory reruns and get my Star Trek fix vicariously through them.   :lol

Big Bang Theory invalidates any possible nerd points. It's just a generic awful comedy in nerd drag.

I know what keeps me from being a full-fledged geek.    Not only is it the absence of Star Trek in my life but I also don't freak out about Star Wars either.

Neither do I. I don't even consider Star Wars scifi, that's just fantasy to me. And it's far too mainstream to be true scifi. :lol

I like Star Wars, but they're just like any other movie to me. Good, but not something that makes me want to nerd out and 3D model spaceships and hoard blueprints. :blob:

I would consider it a mix of both. I definitely wouldn't consider it completely fantasy.  There are too many machines and advanced technologies for it to be a true fantasy.

True, but I'm a hard-ass when it comes to scifi. It's fantasy with lasers and spaceships.

I'll meet you halfway since I'm the same way with fantasy. Yoda and Chewbacca and Ewoks are definitely fantasy type characters. Lucas had some inspiration from Tolkien without a doubt. Just the location Endor alone in Star Wars is a nod to Tolkien as it's the Elvish word for Middle Earth.

There are enough sub-genres of fantasy to make your head spin.
