New Winger track. Pretty good :metal

https://ultimateclassicrock.com/winger-rat-race/

Good stuff - nothing too fresh but I like it.  In fact it sounds like something Reb had left over from Erase The Slate.

I liked Erase the Slate, pretty good album with some kilelr tunes.  The live DVD with Reb is awesome too.

Avalon II teaser:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIyw90HPjT4&feature=youtu.be&a

I know it's only 23 seconds, but already it's better than the first Avalon.
I'm still reserving judgement. That teaser doesn't sound like much of anything to me, other than more of the same (which isn't a good thing).

I liked that! Great production, and a solid hard rock song, and this time without the overdone pitch correction. I'm definitely hopeful for this album.
Only King could mis-spell a LETTER.

meh on the Tolkki sample.

But fuck yeah on the Winger, great hard rock right there.  Brent, I instantly thought of your Erase the Slate reference as soon as I heard the opening riff.  :lol

Love the interplay between Reb and John too.  I hope John gets a few more solos on this one, he's a great guitarist.

Had a chat with Paul from Eden's Curse in the thread he made about the tour.  I'm one happy Aussie right now.  There's a link to one of Nikola's other bands which is amazing.  Check it out.

LRS

Not bad.  Pretty generic, but nice enough.  Josh Ramos is an amazing guitarist and is probably the reason why I will buy this.

I actually can't stop listening to this.

I like it too - it is generic Frontiers stuff but 3 things elevate it......................Tommy's voice , Josh's solo and the little breakdown after the solo.

If you like Tommy's voice and don't already have it then you need to get the 21 Guns album Salute - it has Scott Gorham on guitar.  Amongst other good tracks it has one of the most immense AOR ballads ever  (These Eyes)

And one of the more rocking tracks  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3yVFFqwAAY

Yeah man, those songs are pretty good.  I am liking this guys voice and it's the first I've heard of him.

I remember the samples of this LRS album not doing anything for me, but this song has me hooked.  The main guitar line at the start and before the solo is incredible.  Definitely buying this one.

Hey man - you have taste  ;D

I was only thinking yesterday that A Little Ain't Enough is probably now my favourite Roth solo album.............and I'm a big (understatement) VH, Roth and (when on plant Earth)  Vai fan.

I think Roth is seriously under rated as a writer. He did great on ALAE and some of the stuff he wrote for A Different Kind of Truth is LOL hilarious and bloody clever

Man, I'm sorry I missed this a while ago. Thanks!

Has anyone heard the Japanese bonus track off of Hardline's Double Eclipse? I discovered it about a year ago and love it quite a bit.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs5Tbg4QBUw

Also, I'm not sure if I have seen these guys mentioned here, they may have been and I missed it.

They are more on the 80s metal side of the spectrum. Not the best music ever, but I thought they would be worth mentioning.

Reckless Love - So Happy I could Die

The missus is on my case as usual and today it's about throwing out a lot of my old music stuff  ::)  Next will be all my music mags I suppose.  Anyway - as part of the process my old cassettes saw the light of day for the first time in 20 years.   It's far from the lot but what I have left is like a bit of a time capsule.

I was a bit late to CD's so it covers up to around 90/91 (age 16) and is a pretty good representation of what I listened to in primary and secondary school.   It basically mirrors my current taste - everything from early Bryan Adams to Annihilator.   The bands over represented there (VH, Ozzy, KISS,Malmsteen Savatage etc....) show where I was focused most.

Here's a photo (rough alpha order) I just took for posterity.  Dunno whether to chuck 'em or not.......   Memories...........

I'm pretty sure in among the blankies there's a demo I played on and shopped around (with no success) -  that'll be interesting if it plays .  Some of the compilation tapes I made are pretty amazing to look at too - hours in front of the radio recording/dubbing etc.....

I get the same complaints from my missus Brent. Aint got rid of mine yet but everything is in the attic in boxes. Its all a bit of a state too as I get the urge to listen to something I have to find it...
I have many of the same cassettes too. I was an early cd adopter at home but I used a walkman for the work commute and hated the quality loss when taping stuff so if I really liked something I used to buy it on cd and cassette. Ouch.

A few  of those I have on vinyl too... Oh the money I've spent  :omg:

Only a couple I don't recognise. Row 1, 8+9 and row 4 1+6. Is row 6, 3 Shotgun Messiah?

You got Shotgun Messiah right - yep.

Row 1 , 8+9 = Chicago 19 and Choirboys (Aussie rock)

Row 4 , 1+6  are Metal Church : hanging In The Balance and Noiseworks: Touch.

I wish I'd been around a bit earlier and had these all in vinyl.  I dare say most of these wouldn't play even if I wanted to .  I still see people selling tapes on Ebay though - wishful thinking I'd imagine or is there a collectors market?

Ah, don't know those albums at all. I still don't have that Roxus on any format. Its Youtube for me if I want to hear that!
Most of my cassettes seem to work ok when I've tried them. There will be a risk of them getting jammed I gguess, but there always was

Yeah - I'm not sure what the story is these days but I had to really pull some strings with a few people to score a CD copy of Roxus back in the 90's.  I imagine it's not quite so hard these days.  Great melodic rock album that - one of dozens of awesome albums released just as the shit hit the fan.

I used to listen to that Choirboys tape when I was a kid, my dad had it. And of course Run To Paradise is a radio classic. :metal

I'm a bit too young to have had a cassette collection, I got started with CDs, but I do regret getting rid of my VHS collection many years ago. :(
