In keeping with my new tradition of seeing Dream Theater perform in a city I've never been to before on each tour (in addition toattending the home town show), I've chosen Austin, TX for A Dramatic Tour of Events. If others have seen DT in MULTIPLE CITIES, I'd be curious to see how far and wide we fans have traveled to see our favoriate band.

fascinating stuff, guys. I would imagine no other band draws people to make all these treks.

Yep. Was fortunate to see each of the holiday tours. Got tix for the Lido Beach show before the Old Bridge show was announced. Otherwise, I would've gladly avoided traveling out to Long Island to see them and stayed in Jersey.
Living in the NJ/NY area, between the holiday shows, the SFAM Roseland show and the RCMH show, I've been very lucky.
-
I'm mostly confined to the northeast.
Worcester, MA x2 (Interesting parallels, but the palladium show here was my first DT concert (first concert ever actually) and this was also the venue where I saw them for the last time with MP)

Also remembered Holmdal, NJ
I know there are still more.
I've seen them so many times now over the years, it's becoming hard to remember. Getting old blows!!
-
Yeah, but seeing Dream Theater so many times that its become hard to remember them all pretty much rules, so you've got that going for ya . . .
-
Unfortunately, since they are not changing setlists now, the days of 10+ shows per tour are a thing of the past for me. When this tour was first announced I had planned 4 west coast and 3 east coast shows for this leg.

That's cool  It's a pretty cool state, I know it quite well. I've lived in Monmouth, Union, Ocean, Somerset and Morris County at different points of my life. I actually miss it a lot now that I've finally left, been in France for the last year and a half for my studies. I finally finish school in December so I can go back to complaining about Jersey once I get back :lol

Hope they keep playing the Grove. Love being front stage and center.

July 9, 2012 Dallas, TX (Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie) - A Dramatic Tour of Events
I was at that show too.
-
The first time I seen them was a very long time ago in the old cat house in Glasgow then recently in the braehead arena then the secc then the Clyde auditorium.but I have to say that last gig in the Clyde auditorium I didn't like so much there is something about that venue that just sucks the soul out of any music played in it. Personally I would love to see them play the barrowlands!!

I do! I´m Brazilian but lived in Australia for a while, so I had the chance to see DT over there and also in Tokyo. I love to combine vacations with concerts or other kinds of events, and this next time in Spain will hopefully be great as well. My wife is not a DT fan at all, but she´s excited to go over there and have a look around.

Fix for '96
Lupo's WHJY birthday party (FII pre-show) featuring first ever live performances of New Millenium, Hollow Years and album version of Burning My Soul.
Would have been 3x in providence, my friends invited me to the '95 Change of Seasons leg, but I had to pass on opportunity because I was preparing for my first college film shoot the next day.
I hit all three of those Providence shows.
Loved The Strand.

-
I have just seen them live once in Costa Rica on August 12th, 2012. I hope they go to Costa Rica again (since I can take for granted that they won't come to Panama), and I think they will because the show was an absolute blast.

What about Antarctica

I don't think there's much of a live music scene in Antarctica dude...

Well yeah but you haven't seen them there have you?

Hi to all, this is my first post, been a regular visitor to this site over the years, if I need to know anything, this really is the place to look. First discovered DT in 2001, after someone advised I listen to SFAM. Since then I have been a massive fan. Seen them live 4 times now and have tickets for the Wolverhampton UK show to make it 5.
Manchester Apollo - 2004 (TOT Tour)
Newcastle City Hall - 2007 (Chaos in motion)

I don't remember that. I'll have to listen to the bootlegs.
At the Lupo's show, we were right on the side of the stage, and MP's wife and baby were standing right next to us.
-
Lupo's was a great show. First time they played New Millennium among other FII tracks (I think). I was probably next to you. Talked to MP after the show about Metallica's Load and other stuff. (probably because they mixed some metallica riffs into Metropolis during the encore). MP was getting out of his rap stage at that point. Saw his wife for the first time at that show too now that I think about it.

Manchester Apollo - 2004 (TOT Tour)
Thanks for the first post. I would imagine the 2004 show was amazing, as was every rotating set on that tour.
-
Orlando, West Palm Beach, and I think Fort Lauderdale. Like 4 or 5 times total
-
I've seen them twice. Both times in Holland. First time in Zwolle, second time in Amsterdam.
-
Orlando, West Palm Beach, and I think Fort Lauderdale. Like 4 or 5 times total
I have a bootleg of the '93 Fort Lauderdale show. Good set for a small club, although some of the crowd seem disinterested, as you can hear folks chatting through most of the show.
-
I've seen them seven times, but only in Sweden I'm afraid.
2004-01-22 - Hovet, Stockholm, Sweden
2005-06-10 - Sweden Rock Festival, Sölvesborg, Sweden
2005-09-29 - Hovet, Stockholm, Sweden

Philly - 1
New Jersey - 2 - pnc arts center and asbury park convention hall
New York City - 5 - beacon theater twice, terminal 5 twice, and msg once
I will amend this to (including future shows for this coming tour and one show from last tour that wasn't included):
Philly - 1
New Jersey - 4 - pnc arts center twice, asbury park convention hall, and count Basie in red bank
New York City - 6 - beacon theater twice, terminal 5 twice, msg once, and Hammerstein ballroom
At the end of this NA tour I will have seen DT 11 times since 2007.
And I should amend that to include:
Los Angeles - 1 - The Orpheum
For 12 times seeing DT. I cant believe its been that many, all memorable.
-
UPDATE with The Astonishing. Shows #40 and #41 (both Los Angeles) added below. I'm not traveling this time, but luckily they added a 2nd Los Angeles show.

1999 European tour in Milan, pre-full SFAM show
2000 European tour in Milan, best of setlist, A Change of Seasons as encore
2002 European tour in Milan, Six Degrees show
2004 European tour in Milan, Train of Thought show
2005 European tour in Milan, Octavarium show
2007 Gods of Metal festival in Milan, entire Images and Words album played, first date of the whole tour
2007 European tour in Milan, Systematic Chaos show
2009 Gods of Metal festival in Milan (actually it was a nearby city, Monza), pre-Black Clouds summer shows
2012 European tour in Milan, A Dramatic Turn of Events show
2014 European tour in Milan, self titled show
2016, European tour in Milan, The Astonishing live!
So you can get the pattern easily... every time they show up in my town, I don't miss them. I skipped them only once, during the Prog Nation tour, 'cause I didn't like the other bands on the bill and I thought they'd play too little, they did an absolutely awesome setlist in their limited time, I still regret missing it out. And yeah, didn't see SFAM played in full, dammit.
-
Saw them first on the Images & Words tour in a small club in Stockholm called Melody.
I then for different reasons failed to catch the Awake and falling into infinity tours.
Moving to Stockholm made seeing them live much easier and I have caught them on all subsequent tours except Systematic Chaos for which I had a ticket but was in a hospital after an accident so I couldn't go.
-
Toad's Place, New Haven, CT (10-25-1997) (In the womb)
Just saw this post now. Wow, I was at that show with your parents. It's funny to see where you are age-wise vs. other members. It was my 24th birthday the day before that show. It was a great show, too.
-
I live a 12 hour drive from the closest venues they play here in Canada, so I've only managed to see them twice. Montreal in 2007 (Chaos in Motion Tour) and Quebec City in 2014 (Along For The Ride Tour).
I'm extremely jealous of the folks who got to see the early shows, and basically any show where they played ACOS, my favourite song.

I'd like to see them at least one time with Mike Mangini, so I started saving in case they come to Argentina on this tour (I don't live in Buenos Aires, so I would need quite a lot of money to travel to a concert).

Thanks to the person for putting this up. Thanks for the share here.
Good memories....while some things don't change (black outfits, JLB shouting over the end of the final notes), some have. Nice to see concerts without the screen behind the stage, where one could focus easier on the band and the lighting. Oh, and that guy behind the drum kit urging on the crowd throughout.

haha, I was at the CT show of The Astonishing last night, and was utterly HUMBLED.
My only previous show was the Prog Nation show for BC&SL in Philly in... I think it was 2008.
I was in the presence of at least four people that were actually ON a DVD let alone at a filming of a DVD. I feel like I was the only person there that wasn't at at least one of the "legendary" shows, like Radio City.
-

They always had the best shows. I just hated the fucking bouncers and security guys. They were always these self-righteous juicers with a neck the size of the car I was driving.

Yeah, pretty much SI, too. Home of the microwave tans and chicken heads.

Figured I'd put together an actual list. Like BobS alluded to somewhere up above, cookie cutter tours pretty much did away with my traveling to see them. Any shows beyond '11 that I traveled to had extenuating circumstances. TA and LTE, on the other hand, I'll travel to the ends of the Earth to see.
Dallas, 8/16/02
Dallas, 6/25/03
Dallas, 8/2/05
NYC, 4/1/06
Dallas, 8/2/07
Dallas, 6/9/10
Houston, 6/9/10
Houston, 10/25/11
Austin, 10/26/11
Dallas, 10/27/11
Austin, 7/7/12
Dallas, 7/9/12
Wallingford, 4/20/16
NYC, 4/22/16
Dallas, 12/13/16
Dallas, 12/2/17
Dallas, 4/29/19
And for good measure:
Liquid Tension Experiment:
LA, 6/27/08
Transatlantic:
San Francisco, 4/18/10
Philadelphia, 2/8/14
NYC, 2/9/14
Shattered Fortress
NYC, 9/24/17
-
Dang, I really wanted to go to that LTE show in Downey, CA, but it sold out.
-
And I had tickets for the NYC LTE show but couldn't go >:(
-
Dang, I really wanted to go to that LTE show in Downey, CA, but it sold out.
Still the greatest show I've ever seen. (sorry)
On the bright side, I was on the fence about posting my list on the basis of "that RaiseThKnife guy will probably just post his list under mine and make me look like a chump." :lol Well, there's still BobS, I'm afraid.
And I had tickets for the NYC LTE show but couldn't go >:(
Given the exact opposite nature of the two shows, I'm pretty thankful I went West rather than East. Everybody has their own preferences, but I thought the theater vibe was more appropriate for their show than the rock show vibe. And then there was that whole keyboard solo thing.
-

There's always someone who is bigger/better than you, and equally smaller/worse than you.
-
BobS is most definitely up there. Who was that other guy who saw them an unbelievable amount of times? Was it Franz or something like that?
-
BobS is most definitely up there. Who was that other guy who saw them an unbelievable amount of times? Was it Franz or something like that?
Not sure how many times Franz has seen them, but I'm sure it's plenty. I think you're probably referring to a German guy by the name of Matthias who had seen them like 50 times by December of 1998 (MP mentioned this on the bootleg of one of the shows). However, I remember asking MP about Matthias several years ago, and he was under the impression (altho not confirmed) that Matthias may no longer be with us.

Anyone on the forum went to the Budokan Show? lol
-
Looking at all the shows people have been too, wow.
I have been to 2 DT concerts.
2014 - in Riverside, CA
Last night - in Los Angeles, CA
Although I did meet a person who has been 9 venues so far during this current DT tour and she will see them for the 10th time at Oakland tonight. Now that is dedication.

I used to be that kind of person (see my list of shows) but since they went to the static setlist, once per tour is enough for me.

*snip the awesomeness*
That's the guy I was trying to think of. I knew MP mentioned it during one of the boots. It might have been the Rotterdam show or the one in Brussels. I forget.

Got my tickets for April 19th at the Orpheum. That would make it 4 times - The Nokia in LA, twice at the Grove of Anaheim, and then now at the Orpheum in LA. So stoked!
Now I can add last night's show at the Wiltern to my list. #5

Just L.A. for me.

I've seen DT like 5-6 times before Portnoy quit. Probably all in Chicago too. I remember going to the first show of a two night stint, thinking it wasn't worth going the 2nd night, only for them to perform MOP for (maybe) the first time. I was so pissed.

Bummer that you didn't catch the second night. You must not have been following DT much online then at the time, since it was pretty much assumed they'd do MoP for the second night in Chicago after having already done it in Spain a month earlier. I actually flew out for those 2 shows as well as the Milwaukee show that followed. So glad I did. I have some great memories from those gigs, including getting to sit in on an interview with JL before the Milwaukee gig.

I guess I wasn't following the setlists as much, or maybe I just missed it. I also remember when they played The Pageant in St. Louis (which is where I lived) but I couldn't go because I had a night class, so I went to Chicago a day or so later, and then that Pageant show is the infamous one where I guy leaped off a balcony to catch Portnoy's head and thus they never returned to St. Louis again.
My awesome fortune.
-
I was at the STL pageant show with the guy falling out of the balcony, as well as the Chicago MOP show.
Oddly enough, Adami, we had the exact problem reversed with the Chicago shows; we only went to the 2nd show and were pissed when they spend the entire 2nd set on cover; it was not known when tickets went on sale what "special show" meant (that was before the Spain show when they first did it). In fact, I've been to 7 DT shows and have never seen a DT crowd as dead for that long of a duration as it was when they played all of MoP. A lot of unhappy fans during that set. We definitely regretted not going to the first night (although it wasn't feasible since five of us drove up from STL and not everyone can take off work that easily), since that set list was far better and pretty beastly. Oh well, shit happens.

Have you seen them this year?

Yea, at the time I was pissed, but after hearing the MoP recording they released....I didn't mind not going.
However, I can't remember which show, but it was in Chicago, I went to see them and my favorite DT song is A Change of Seasons, which I have never seen live. So during the middle/end of the show I started feeling really sick, like close to passing out sick, so I had to leave. Went online the next morning? They played A Change of Seasons.
Thanks Obama.
-
:lol :lol
We got A Change of Seasons at the beginning of the 2nd set in 2004, the last time they played here in St. Louis (which will change soon).
-
I've see DT live "only" 40 times.. In 9 different countries.
-
I've seen them in
Düsseldorf
Bonn
Vienna
Boston
How many times? I lost count frankly. Been seeing them every time they came around since Awake, with the exception of the current TA leg.
-
Reading the posts about A Change of Seasons made me realize it's coming up on 20 years since I've seen them play it live. Holy hell time certainly does fly by . . . .
-
Milan x10 (from 1993 to 2012)
Turin x1 (2000)
Bergamo x1 (2004)
-
Reading this thread makes me so jealous...
my short list (I discovered DT much too late):
2009 München
2012 Düsseldorf
2014 Düsseldorf
2016 Amsterdam, Hannover, Bochum
I hope to add Düsseldorf 2017
-
Man I'm seriously lagging behind all you guys, I've only gotten to see the band twice. First time in London, England 2004 TOT tour. 2nd time last night at Clearwater, US 2016 TA tour
-
Unfortunately I discovered the band very late, so I missed a lot of epic concerts
I first discovered them in 2011 and 2012 I saw them the first time :)
2012: Copenhagen, Berlin, Manchester, London. Boston, Huntington*2, Atlantic City
2014: Porto, Manchester, London, Wolverhampton, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Gelsenkirchen
2015: Bonn
2016: Hannover, Copenhagen, Bochum
Highlights so far were the second night in Huntington where they played To Live Forever and Paradigm Shift. Their tour opening in Porto 2014 was also special for me. To hear songs like The Shattered Fortress and Trial of Tears :metal :metal and to see them play Illumination Theory for the first time live was a goosebump moment :)
For 2017 I have tickets for Malmö and Düsseldorf. Hopefully there will also come a Copenhagen date and I cross fingers that this time I finally will be hearing Octavarium :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

Dang, frostbitez, you were busy in 2012! Certainly made up for lost time that year.

I probably went a bit crazy in the beginning ;D
-
Chicago 2005: Coheadlining Giagantour w/ Megadeth. Also included Fear Factory, Symphony X and other bands
Columbus, OH 2008: Coheadlining Progressive Nation w/ Opeth. Can't remember who the openers were (if any)
Cleveland, OH 2010: Opening for Iron Maiden
Atlanta, 2012: Headlining w/ trivium as opener
Atlanta, 2016: Headlining w/ no opener
-
Only twice.
New York City - Radio City Music Hall - April 1, 2006 (20th Anniversary show, recorded for SCORE)
Durham, NC - Durham Performing Arts Center - December 5, 2016 (last show of the tour)
-
I've seen Dream Theater 26 times, since '93, all around the world, and several times in certain locations. As far as I recall, here are the different cities:
New York City, NY
Los Angeles, CA
Atlanta, GA
London, England
Rome, Italy
Munich, Germany
Mexico City, Mexico
Caracas, Venezuela
Bogota, Colombia
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Tokyo, Japan
Hong Kong, China
Bangkok, Thailand
Sydney, Australia
-
Damn, that's a great list there Stewie!
-
I've seen them around 15 times since Awake and never traveled (or had to travel) far:
- Cologne
- Bonn
- Oberhausen
- Düsseldorf
-
Once. Chicago, IL on the SFAM tour, the second leg of the tour when they did not play the full album, but instead played ACOS for the encore. :metal
Haven't had the desire to ever see them again.
-
8/9/98 Wantagh, L.I., N.Y. Jones Beach (opening for Deep Purple. ELP was the middle act).
12/29/98 NYC, N.Y. Irving Plaza (home for the holidays show -- awesome gig)
2/6/00 NYC, N.Y. Roseland Ballroom (Dixie Dregs opened) -- I'll never forget being swallowed up by the crowd during Home and going from one end of the venue to the other almost in the air. Crazy.
1/19/02 NYC, N.Y. BB King’s Debut of SDOIT material. Was really cool seeing that stuff for the first time.
3/22/02 Boston, Mass. Orpheum Theatre
9/14/02 Wantagh, L.I., N.Y. Jones Beach (Joe Satriani and King's X opened...Doug Pinnick guested on Lines in the Sand, iirc.
7/26/03 Concord, Calif. Chronicle Pavilion – (w/Queensryche and Fates Warning)
7/27/03 Sacramento, Calif. The Cove - (w/Queensryche and Fates Warning)
3/5/04 San Francisco, Calif. The Warfield - (Train of Thought tour -- bummed, because of technical glitches, show got cut short and they never played ACOS.
7/28/07 Berkeley, Calif. Berkeley Com. Theatre (Redemption opened this gig, along with Stu Block's old band whose name is escaping me at the moment).
6/20/10 Concord, Calif. Sleep Train Pavilion (DT was opening for Iron Maiden)
9/24/11 San Francisco, CA The Warfield (first show with Mangini, if memory serves me correctly)
A total of 12 times. But it has been going on six years since the last time. I regret not seeing the self-titled record tour with the Awake suite. But unless there is a compelling reason like that, I'm not sure I'll see DT again as a headliner (if they came here on the I&W anniversary thing, I would see that). Been a fun run. :)
-
Damn, that's a great list there Stewie!
Thanks! I've been fortunate to travel a lot in my line of work, and seeing them in different countries has been really neat.

My first DT show was in Chicago for the Gigantour back in 2005. Amazing tour.....Megadeth, Fear Factory, Dream Theater, Dillinger Escape Plan, Nevermore, Symphony X. Pretty insane lineup and very cheap tickets ($40 for GA which was right up front).
-
New listener to DT - almost 2 years now. I have seen The Astonishing 3x. Oakland, Anaheim and Reno. Was supposed to go to the Denver concert
tonight, but my son became ill and I had to fly home yesterday. :'( Had M & G also.. :yarr Bummer.
But, who knows, maybe I can get to Dallas at the end of the tour.

Yea where we you?! I met up with CrimsonSunrise for beers before hand, I think he tried to organize a meet up and the only one who showed up was a guy from NJ :lol

Sparks - Deer park

Every tour from 6DOIT TILL NOW...all in Grand Prarie Tx except for The Astonishing in Tulsa and IW25 in the new Toyota Pavillion in Irving Tx..best show in my opinion was 6DOIT ..they were at the peak of perfection with Portnoy..IW25 a close 2nd..and The Astonishing in Tulsa was truly great

who me? Yeah, I was second row right in front of JP.

I saw them well over a decade ago in Atlanta back with the original lineup. I still remember how badly my voice was shot from singing along with all the songs at that volume. They sounded just as good live as on the albums, which I loved. :metal

Which lineup are you referring to? I ask because officially, the original lineup of DT was with Charlie Dominici in the band, and I know DT didn't do any touring down to Atlanta then. Do you mean the lineup with James LaBrie and Kevin Moore in 1992-93, or could you be referring to the lineup with Derek Sherinian from 1994-98, or the longest lineup with Jordan Rudess and Mike Portnoy from 1999-2010?

I have seen every tour once and only once with the exception of WDADU (which extremely few people saw) and the SFAM tour, which skipped Seattle.
Images and Words Tour - June 8th 1993 - Seattle
Awake Tour - Nov 27th 1994 - Seattle (for both of these first two shows, I was front row center, because I was the only person standing in line when the tickets went on sale)
Falling Into Infinity Tour - Nov 15th 1997 - Seattle
Six Degrees Tour - March 9th 2002 - San Francisco (ROAD TRIP!!)
North American Summer Tour with Queenryche - Aug 2nd 2003 - Seattle
Train of Thought Tour - March 2nd 2004 - Seattle
Octavarium Tour - April 1st 2006 - RADIO CITY MUSIC HALL NEW YORK CITY!!!! (eternal gratitude to Setlist Scotty for that)
Progressive Nation Tour (supporting Systematic Chaos) - May 5th 2008 - Seattle
Black Clouds and Silver Linings Tour - June 21st 2010 - Portland, OR (road trip to see the headlining set from DT rather than an opening set for Iron Maiden in Seattle)
A Dramatic Turn of Events Tour - Sep 27th 2011 - Seattle
Dream Theater (Along for the Ride) Tour - April 12th 2014 - Vancouver BC (took the weekend show rather than a Monday show in Seattle)
The Astonishing Tour - May 11th 2016 - Seattle

Kulttuuritalo, Helsinki, 2015. Disappointing show, because they only played one song per album and mostly hits. In contrast, Anathema (the opening act) had a very intimate acoustic set. They had lost most of their equipment during the flight and had apparently get the instruments on a pretty short notice. I really enjoyed them, even though I missed the first song and only knew songs from Weather Systems and the cover of Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd.
Like in the Iron Maiden/Alice Cooper show I saw in 2011, the opening act was better.

That was the worst DT show in Finland for me. I have seen 2007 SC tour, 2011 Progressive nation, 2015 and 2017 I&WB tour. The 2015 one was really a typical festival set, they didn't even communicate with fans, it was really poor performance. 2017 was really much better.
-
I hope they played well though. (that would be the most important thing to me, I for one never saw Mike fail ever since he's in the band, that's calming)
I wasn't on that tour but I loved that they played Afterlife and Bridges and Veil.

They really should rename the festival.
But it does have like 10-12 other small stages with really good blues bands.
And then all these pop/metal/rap/country headliners.

I've been listening to DT since late 2008/early 2009, but unfortunately have only seen them twice so far. Looking to rectify that by going at least once per tour starting from the last one I saw, continuing with the upcoming Ottawa show this November. :metal :metal :metal
March 2014 - Toronto - Along for the Ride tour
November 2019 - Kitchener - Distance over Time tour pt. 2
(especially sad I never got to see The Astonishing live. It's not one of my favourite albums, but it is truly a unique album in DT's catalog, and the probably won't ever play it again. Hopefully they do play a song or two from it in the future though.

I'm sure you know, but there's a pretty good boot from that show.. It traded back in the day. Pretty sure there's a Fates Warning show filmed around the same time from there as well.

2005: Gigantour Atlantic City NJ
Went for the Megadeth, but my wandering ears found a new band to crush on. :blush
2008: Prog Nation Terminal 5 NYC
The only show they played Repentance :metal Okay maybe it wasn’t the most metal moment, but I was there for DT history. I know the medley Schmedly Wilcox was controversial, but I enjoyed it because it allowed a new fan like me to hear bits of all those classics, even at a short concert. I imagine there were a lot of other newer fans at those Progressive Nation shows who probably appreciated it in the same way. Plus, I got to hear part of Octavarium(my favorite DT song) and looked forward to the day I would see them perform it in its entirety. Still waiting for that day…. :(
2009: Prog Nation Tower Theatre Philly PA
Last show I saw with MP :( I remember they played Hollow Years(wish they would pull that song out more).
2012: ADTOE Atlantic City NJ
First MM show - absolute rocker. My first real “full length show.” I remember James being on point and putting on a real show. My one friend I brought with me was a drummer and he was floored by how good Mangini was (less floored by the dual drummer King Crimson Project. I remember that being a little…rough) :metal
2014: S/T Tour Count Basie Red Bank NJ
Probably my favorite DT show i’ve ever been to and the best I have ever heard LaBrie sound live. Band and crowd were having a blast - amazing set-list and amazing night. Awful food at the diner near the theatre after the show :lol
2016: Astonishing Tour Tower Theatre Philly PA
Cool show - very unique. I like the Astonishing, don’t love it. Overall it was a fun night, but i wish they played some classics too (I do remember they added them later in the tour, but my show was still just The Astonishing). On the flip side, the light show and video screens were fantastic and my dad who came with me absolutely loved the show. He’s not much into the heavy metal side of the band so he dug the show more than a typical DT show.
2017: Images/Words Tour Baltimore MD
This was a strange show. The fourth song was The Spirit Carries On, which was kind of a bizarre place for it in the set. I loved seeing ACOS live, but the Images & Words set was too demanding vocally. James tried his best, but it’s clear the material was too much to ask from him. I remember walking away from that show worried about how much longer they could tour with how James did that night.
2019: D/T | Scenes Tour Tower Theatre Philly PA
This is probably my second favorite DT show. Despite my worries from the Images tour, James killed it all night and was amazing on the Scenes set. I loved the set list and the band was on fire. Only complaint was the loudness. I made sure next tour I would bring ear plugs because it was getting absurd how loud the shows were.
2022: Top of the World Tour The Met Philly PA
I love DT, but I’m gonna be frank - this was my least favorite DT show i’ve been to. Did I enjoy myself? Yes. The band played great, although I kind of missed Mangini’s bigger drum set. There wasn’t much engagement with the fans and James….ooof. He was struggling bad. Not just with hitting notes, he was out of time - either late or early for some verses, forgot the lyrics on at least 4 songs at some point, and just really seemed to be having a rough go of it performing. I really hope they rework the set list a bit for this upcoming tour so there aren’t any crazy difficult songs for James to sing. I love this band and really want to see them succeed and put on a great show.
I love these guys for the shows and memories over the years - here’s to hopefully many more awesome DT shows.
:metal :metal :metal

That's an impressive list of shows. The one thing I regret is not checking out JP's shows recently. I really haven't seen any of the members in a solo capacity or with another group(even though I do really like a lot of their solo work or side projects). Jordan was probably a fun show to go see. His talent with a keyboard is just incredible.
-
The online StageIt performances with Jordan were especially cool because of the live interactive nature, and very intimate.

I can definitely see it. The one meet and greet I did with Dream Theater, I felt Jordan was the most interactive and fun member(petrucci was pretty talkative with the fans as well). Even though myung was quiet, he was very friendly. One of my friends was able to meet and greet when Portnoy was in the band and said he was definitely the most interactive with the fans.

The Northeast rules! :metal
My list is pretty similar except I sat out the 6 D's and ToT tours as my kids were just born.

That was me during the Mangini years. I definitely skipped a few tours there when my daughter was a little younger. I can't wait for the first Portnoy Mk2 dates. Nothing could keep me from those shows.

I could give a reason as to why it wasn't filmed. However, there is a number of people on this board who wouldn't like my answer. So, I'm just gonna play nice and keep it to myself.

Because the venue wasn't very full for one. I'm a minority in that I very much enjoy TA as an album and even the performance of it was great, but the actual show itself, with the ushers, was very un-fun. I wish they filmed that show so you could see how unhappy a significant amount of the crowd was that night. I had a lot more fun at the DTF meet up before that show, good turn out. I think the only one who visibly looked like they were having fun was JP's wife :lol

All shows in the UK unless otherwise noted.
Eventim Apollo, London - February 22, 2020 (Distant Memories show, night two, rather visible in second row throughout the bluray, especially in The Spirit Carries On where I cheekily nod at the camera as it glides past :coolio :lol)
Eventim Apollo, London - February 21, 2020 (Distant Memories show, night one)
Symphony Hall, Birmingham - April 18, 2017
London Palladium, London - February 19, 2016 (The Astonishing, second row in front of JP. Was somewhat less sober than anticipated and that, combined with it being like JP was playing in my living room, made it super enjoyable despite the music)
London Palladium, London - February 18, 2016 (First performance of The Astonishing, JP didn't even go to the centre of the stage for his solo in A New Beginning. It was so obvious that the performance needed some serious pepping up)
Civic Hall, Wolverhampton - February 15, 2014
Wembley Arena, London - February 10, 2012
O2 Apollo Manchester, Manchester - February 9, 2012
Civic Hall, Wolverhampton - July 23, 2011
Rock in Roma 2011, Rome, Italy - July 4, 2011 (Mangini's first show, held on a racecourse. Great setting!)

King George's Hall, Blackburn - November 11, 2007

Civic Hall, Wolverhampton - October 26, 2005
Carling Apollo Hammersmith, London - October 25, 2005 (Dark Side of the Moon show)
Carling Apollo Hammersmith, London - October 24, 2005
Carling Apollo Hammersmith, London - January 17, 2004

May as well add mine, now I've got a few more under my belt!
Civic Hall Wolverhampton, 2011 (First ever concert - blew my little mind)
Sheffield City Hall, 2014 (Met the guys, except JM - who hurriedly ran past - as they were getting off the tour bus. Unfortunately, don't know what happened to the photos from that day)
Sporthalle Hamburg, 2020
Utilita Arena Newcastle, 2022
O2 Apollo Manchester, 2023
The hope is, whenever they announce their first UK or Euro leg with MP, to take in at least a few dates on that tour. Fingers crossed.

I can't be bothered to look for my latest post in this topic, but 7 shows as of today:
2012.02.21 - Milan, Assago Forum
2014.01.21 - Florence
2014.07.21 - Brescia, Piazza Della Loggia <-- The downpour show, by far their best
2015.07.19 - Pistoia
2016.03.18 - Milan, Teatro degli Arcimboldi
2017.04.23 - London, Hammersmith Apollo [the Derek Oliver show]
2019.07.19 - St. Julien en Genevois, Guitar En Scene
I skipped them (despite having tickets!) on the latest tour as I wasn't a fan of the setlist and was generally not in the mood for a show. I'm sure as hell going to try to compensate on this next tour!

Go Marco go! And I see that you never got to see MP in the drum seat, so now you'll get that opportunity, too!
BTW, clean out your inbox - I tried to PM you but couldn't! :)
-
Hey Scott! I guess I have not checked my inbox in the last five years, didn't realise it was clogged!
I have in fact seen MP on the drums, but for Transatlantic, around a month before he announced his exit in 2010. Actually got a nod from him after I pointed at him to my father while he was chilling backstage as the various opening acts played their sets!
