on par with the anguish one would have from getting unconsensually bent over and buttloved.

Almost done with my third listen of the whole thing, and it keeps growing.
I might spin it one more time or so, then I'll probably let it rest for at least over the weekend.  ;)

It sounds to me like some songs, such as Curse of Cynicism, have guest vocalists at certain points.  Will Casey be releasing personnel info?

I know members of Manchester Orchestra appeared on the Red EP, but I don't know about any other officially released info about guests.  There are definitely non-Casey vocalists though.

SD, if you got it from iTunes then it came with a 15 page booklet which has the personnel for each EP.

Yeah, it's all in the booklets.  The other vocalists throughout the Red EP is Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra.  I think the whole band played on that EP.  The band "Naive Thieves" play throughout the Yellow EP.  And Casey's mother does vocals here and there through the whole thing.  Not sure who else off the top of my head.

I agree with the sentiments here that Red is one of the weakers EPs (although still fantastic) but I really love Orange a lot. It's got that 70s Sabbath/Deep Purple Vibe and I think the guys really pulled it off well. Casey's solos on those songs are just undeniably cool.

I still really like both Green and Yellow near the bottom, this is just overall a fantastic release, no matter what EP ends up last, it's still a great one. :)

People dislike Yellow too much.  I do approve of Letters and Zantera putting Indigo first.  I think that's the only EP that's entirely made of 5 star songs.

Indigo seems to be the favourite overall here, so I'll give that a spin later to see if I wanna bother with the rest.

Oh, I thought it was just the favourite, but if it's different then I guess it won't really be indicative of the rest. Fair enough.

All EP's are different from each other obviously, everyone has their unique sound, much like The Alchemy Index by Thrice.

The thing is though, there wasn't anything on the 11 track sampler that made me really want to hear more, and that had at least one track from every EP. With The Alchemy Index, as soon as I'd heard the first track of each EP I was desperate to hear more, and that's not really the case here.

I would say flame shield, but there wouldn't be any point.

Well, I feel like dismissing something because you heard a SAMPLER is rather lame.
I give new albums at least 4-5 spins before I make up my mind, but this one didn't even require that many spins, it really falls under the category of 'growing'-music.
So check the whole thing out, it's quite easily my favorite album released this year, and judging by some other here, I'm not alone in thinking that. :)

I will give it a listen, but I'm not really being lazy in dismissing it as literally nothing remotely made me want to hear more out of the 11.

Flame shield really is on now.  :lol

(plus, it'll be hard pushed to top Bon Iver, Bon Iver for me)

This.

She's Always Singing is such a lovely little ditty.

and this.

and Indigo isn't in my top 5, but then there really isn't much separation between the top 5, just splitting hairs.  Maybe I need to start listening to the EPs individually instead of straight through as well.

I'm going to do something different...post my favorite song from each color based on memory (I haven't listened in the last 7 hours, so I'm looking at the lists and trying to remember which songs I dug the most)

Black - Take More Than You Need
Red - I Couldn't Do It Alone
Orange - ???
Yellow - She's Always Singing
Green - The Inheritance
Blue - ???
Indigo - ???
Violet - Lillian
White - Home

I guess that makes Orange, Blue, and Indigo my three bottom ones for now.

I'd rather re-listen to other great 2011 albums and get into them more, than pursue one that didn't grab me at all, at least for now.

Bah it's your loss.

Following DTVT's example, I'll try to choose my favorites from the EP's:

Black - Filth and Squalor/Take More Then You Need/This Body (I honestly can't pick, GG.)
Red - I Couldn't Do It Alone
Orange - Stuck On a Wire Out on a Fence/Echo (hard to pick)
Yellow - She's Always Singing
Green - Crow and Cackle
Blue - The Collapse of the Great Tide Cliffs/Trapdoor (it's another tie)
Indigo - Mandala
Violet - Lillian
White - Lost But Not All Gone

Also, agree that Yellow is better then it's ranking, if I rank the EP's again tomorrow, it will probably be higher.

Black-Never Forgive Never Forget/Filth and Squalor/This Body
Red-Deny it All
Orange-Stuck on a Wire out on a Fence
Yellow-A Sua Voz/Misplaced Devotion
Green-Crow and Cackle
Blue-Trapdoor
Indigo-What Time Taught Us/Progress/Therma
Violet-Mr. Malum/Lillian
White-Home
