Hahahahaha! Just wanted to order the vinyl from Germany - and shipping is 51.55 bucks. :censored
Wonder if this will be available somewhere else as well...

I got an answer from MerchDirect whom I emailed about the shipping costs:

MerchDirect Support, May-04 10:07 am (EDT):

Hi Jurgen,

Unfortunately, this is our only option for international shipping. Please take into consideration that we would be shipping you nine vinyls, which is quite heavy. Thanks for your interest in the pre-order :)

Yeah, that make me think twice but in the end I decided I would crush them with my EURO power and buy it anyway.

I bet it would be really cool if, say, oh, idunno... the band played a secret one-off show for a small crowd where they showcase some new Colors material and then they film it for posterity.

Watched this last night and reading some of the comments made me think...

Does it bother any of you that The Dear Hunter is basically Casey Crescendo with a revolving cast of other musicians? You can't really call them a band since hardly any member sticks around for more than an album or two. I don't think it diminishes the music at all, but in a way it's a little disappointing and makes me wonder why no one sticks around. Obviously Casey is the driving force artistically, so perhaps other talented musicians dont like not being able to express themselves creatively?

I'm not bothered because the music is awesome.  Its like Opeth.  Other than Mikael and Mendez, anyone can leave and then be easily replaced and life goes on.  And the music doesn't really suffer from it.

That sounds really great.
I really should check out more TDH-stuff, I only know Act III which I think is brilliant, I have the rest of their discography on my computer, but I haven't checked them out yet.
Really excited about the Color EPs though, no idea what to expect, but I like ideas like this, songs focusing on a 'theme', a bit in the same way like Thrice did with The Alchemy Index (focusing on the four elements), so I am excite.  :hat

Doesn't bother me at all.  It's kind of the same thing with Opeth (centered completely around Mikael).

I think the main reason other members don't stick around is because the band doesn't really make any money.  I mean, just as an example, back in December when I did the house show, Casey called me to reschedule at the last minute because he was running low on gas and told me he only had $7 (literally) so he couldn't afford to fill up his tank to drive out to my apartment.  I'm pretty sure when Andy left it was basically because he was making no money and wanted to go back to school.  If I recall correctly, Nate left to "pursue other music projects", whatever that means.  Erick is now doing his own thing, so maybe creative control was an issue for him, but who knows.  No idea why Josh left (again).

At least Nick has stuck around pretty much since Day 1.  If things keep going the way they have been, it might just eventually turn into the Crescenzo family band.  (They've already got three eerily similar-looking relatives in the band... what's a few more?!)

SEEING THEM TONIGHT WITH LIKE 10 PEOPLE FROM DTF WE WE SO EXCITED

:caffeine:

So super-pumped.  I haven't really been following their setlists w/ dredg, but the setlist from the solo/fan-club show Tuesday night was:

We've Got a Score to Settle (Red)
This Body (Black)
The Church and the Dime
The Thief
Mustard Gas
The Inheritance (Green)
Home (White)
In Cauda Venenum
Red Hands (Casey only)

Haven't heard any of the new stuff yet, is there an official date when the EP's will be released or is it just different dates?
June 14th for all of them.

Apparently as of last night the single disc CD version is now being sold at shows.  I already pre-ordered mine, but I might have to pick up a copy tonight... don't know if I can wait.

Yes they are.  Not the most energetic or showy band live, but the greatness of the music overrides that.

It's also tough to really do too much when there are six guys on a stage with not only their own equipment, but also the equipment of the band they're opening for.

I guess the lineup changes have affected that aspect too.  Especially the losses of Nate and Erick.  Nate was always the most energetic of the guys up there, and Erick added a bit to the showmanship/crowd interaction side of things.  Although a lot of times Casey will banter with random audience members and have fun up there too, although moreso when they're headlining than when they're opening.

I'm curious too to find out if there's any particular order in which they're intended to be listened.

I don't think that it's really meant that they're intended to be listened to in any particular order, but the order they're being presented in is Black --> Red --> Orange --> Yellow --> Green --> Blue --> Indigo --> Violet --> White

Guys, the compilation that they were selling last night is BEAUTIFUL. I'm halfway through it now, it's really excellent. LOVING the twangy slideguitariness of Green.
