Still here (and liking what you're listening to now!)

Just going over my potential Round 9 choices.  I do believe that I'm going to follow the tried and true axiom of Jesse "The Body" Ventura  (King and Chef will know what I'm talking about)

an obscure roulette and chat thread/ R8 results: Ytse wins another round!
« Reply #1212 on: March 25, 2012, 09:09:18 AM »
Very well done guys... you achieved  something impossible... had me listen to ballads all week long! and I enjoyed that!

Standings first!

1.Ytse  SOLUTION .45 - Lethean Tears

Damn… this song blew my mind.. very metal… Took me back to my metal bar experiences during my high school years! I find myself humming the song all the time...

2.DTVT  Enchant - Beautiful

Very, I mean very impressive... Vocals can drop one dead! The bloke's voice has a very natural sadness to it… This is one of those songs I would go back to all the time… I can't write enough about it… Beautiful indeed!

3.Zantera Blackfield - Hello

The song "Hello" by the duo Blackfield. Me likey much! The atmosphere is very impressive... very well done my dear!

4.JBoy  Hardline - In The Hands of Time

Chad’s submission starts with classical guitar, making me wary – but what's that? What kind of sorcery is that voice??!? All I can say is “whoah!” - me likey indeed. Well done my dear... I'm sure I will listen to this a million times!

5.ariich  Nightingale - "Alonely"

I love, and dare I say it, LOVE Dan Swano… but you know what? I love his growls more  ;D having said that, this one was really good!

6.Nekov  Florence + The Machine - No Light, No Light

Very unique, impressive and high quality! It would be very hard to call this a ballad but since my understanding of what a ballad is have confused you guys already, I don’t fucking care... Great submission hun!

7.King  Dada  Star You Are

Very good King, very good... I admire your courage since this is not at all my style... However, there is something you don't know about me – I am a die hard Sade fan. When I drive along the west coast (over here) in Summer, I always have Sade (or Pink Martini but that's another story) in my playlist – this makes the experience complete for me. This band gave me the same kind of taste as Sade does...

8.WebRaider  Candlebox – Sometimes

Candlebox is in my ‘check out properly’ list although I haven't had the chance to get to them yet... Thanks Web, very nice tune!

9.yorost  Solas: The Poisonjester's Mask

Percussions and the other “non-standard” instruments add a lot to the atmosphere... The only element – and that is the most important element for me – that keeps yorost from being one of the best performers is the vocals... In my subjective view, vocals can make or break a song quite easily and candy floss female vocals are not for me... General atmosphere of the tune is very good though!

10.Lonestar  Marillion - Sugar Mice

Good song overall … Fish has a very nice voice… but never have been a fan, I'm afraid… I loved the tune but where the song started to climb … I just knew for a fact that I wouldn't be revisiting it…

11.Elite  John Butler Trio - Ocean

I just don't like the classical guitar sound – at all, I'm sorry to say :( This has a country flair to boot... You know, potential players for my next roulette might want to remember these... Of course it is a good tune; there is nothing bad to say about the musicianship at all...

12.Boy floyd Gordion Knot – Grace

Beloved Josh have already been sending me songs long before this roulette and since he introduced me to mind blowing bands, he got his special invitation. He was the one who introduced me to Gordion Knot for instance – my gateway to a completely new adventure …

This tune is not their best, in my opinion but this doesn'T change the fact that it is bloody impressive. I can picture myself going back to Grace especially when I'm really sad... Thanks buddy!

13.kari -5.5 ? - Lucky You

not bad!

I tried the sample of that Solution .45 song.  Very nice indeed.  Filing that away for later.

Were you still sticking with double points for the ballad round?

Let's hope I have the stamina to hold out one more round.

Damn, those double points took a bad submission and slaughtered me.

Jingle even killed me with my favourite guitarist...  that stings.
