Hey folks! I'm trying to make a decision about something that sort of touches on what you guys were talking about.
About a year ago I started looking for a handheld gaming device since I started working in remote locations where bringing my PS4 would be a hassle.
Long story short, I reserved the Steam Deck in January and I still haven't gotten an email to purchase it. I'm tired of waiting so I decided to look into getting a switch to hold me over until the Steam Deck arrives, whenever that I'll be.
Since I have limited time at home before having to travel back to work, I went ahead and ordered a Nintendo Switch.
Now I've parted ways with Nintendo when I was about 16 years old, I guess I just outgrew their stuff, but I do have fond memories of the GameBoy and the Super Nintendo. However, I have no intention or desire to play Mario games or any of their anime-styled action games that I kept bumping into in my research for the Switch. I'm realizing there's only 8 or 9 games on Switch that I'd actually wanna play.
I'm telling myself that I could just pass it on to my wife when the Steam Deck finally gets here, she's interested, but she's not that gaga over a handheld gaming device, since she already games on her phone.
I guess my question is; should I return it? was that a dumb move? I paid $300 for it and if I keep it I'll have to get an SD card and a carrying case, then a couple of games to start with. It'll end up being a $400-450 thing, for something that I would only use temporarily until the Steam Deck comes, which -by the way- I'll be sinking at least $750 into when it comes out, between device and games.
