Give Me Results Or Give Me Death!

12. Wolfking...Kreator - Death Becomes My Light

"Wow, this was thrash-fucking-tastic!"

Holy shit does this song kick ass. I actually saw Kreator in a club in 1989. I was never into them though. But damn, I must check this album out. This IS Metal!

11. Kwyjibo...Kansas - Death Of Mother Nature Suite

"A very good tune from a just miss band for me. I wish they were heavier."

So this is really good. Considering it's from 1974, it's amazing really. Kansas just does not click with me for some reason. Just not heavy enough, I guess. But this is a cool song that is a bit long, and I'm not sure how much I'd come back to it.

10. Parama...Venenum - Trance of Death, Pt. 2: Metanoia Journey

"I must say, I was expecting a lot more from this.."

This instrumental really grew on me through each listen. I think for the first listen, I had much higher expectations and was not expecting a relatively straight forward instrumental. But the more I listened, the more I liked. The music really hooks you in.

9. Lethean...Kamelot - Love You To Death

"I've been pretty vocal about not caring for this band and this did not change my mind."

I've never really liked anything I've heard from Kamelot. This song actually improved as this round went on. I like it because it feel original. Kamelot really bores me but this song was cool.

8. Evermind...Elvenking - Death And The Suffering

"This song was really easy on the ears and had a lot of different elements in it."

Even after 4 listens, I could not decide if I liked the vocalist or not. I really liked the solo section.

7. Seneca..Agalloch - And The Great Cold Death Of The Earth.

"This was pretty chill. It just never seems to reach a climax."

This is really moody and cool. As I said in the First impression, I just don't feel like it ever really ...gets there. But it is cool and I definitely liked it.

6. Indiscipline...Nuclear Assault - Brain Death

"I never really took this band very seriously. This was cool though."

I love the spirit in this.  I always felt that Nuclear Assault was a real messy band. Almost too much looseness in their music, especially the vocals. I was never into them though, and I really don't feel like I missed anything. But I appreciate this submission and I really enjoyed it.

5. Stadler...HIM - When Love And Death Embrace

"This song starts out real creepy and ends with a Schenker inspired solo which is really nice. That's basically all I remember."

I don't know. I had a hard time getting into this. Other than the Schenkler style solo, I could find really nothing here that i would want to go back to.

4. Kattelox...Alestorm - Death Throes of the Terrorsquid

"This song was pretty good except for the corny vocals in the verses."

There are some decent parts in this, but it's hard to take it seriously with those Pirate Metal vocals. I liked the vocals when they were a bit harsher in the second half of the song. i wish the whole song was sung like that. Also the symphonic elements are too much for me.

3. Kingshmegland...Unruly Child - Life Death

"This was pretty uneven, and it's fair to say that I didn't like it."

This has a Zeppelin vibe, especially in the verses. And again in the instrumental part. I honestly can't see me getting into this band based on this. It feels like they might be a bit too straightforward for me. They just don't feel very original.

2. Puppies...Exmortus - Victory Or Death

"I think K-Lox found the cheesiest album cover with a Death song on it and sent it. And guess what? It's fucking cheesy.."

I don't really know how to review this one. From the 2:23 mark, there's 30 seconds of instrumental goodness, but I really wanted to skip this song each time through.

1. Elite...Ghost - Death Knell

"Wow, that was pretty terrible. I've heard so much better from this band."

Terrible on the first listen. Terrible on the next three listens.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

The Last And Final Round

The 9th and final round is an OPEN ROUND

No Wild Cards™ will be accepted.
ANY band used already in this roulette may be resubmitted regardless of the score.
You will submit TWO songs!

I will listen to the songs in two groups, similar to the first 8 rounds.

The two groups are the Blue Balls group and the Crybaby group.

When you submit your songs to Stadler, you must designate which song you want grouped with the Blue Balls, and which song you want grouped with the Crybabies.

Remember those are not themes. Just the names of the groupings.

Please get your songs into Stadler over the weekend. I would like to have them ALL Monday morning, and we'll wrap this bad boy up next week.

I actually listened to the entire Trance Of Death today. It was really cool. Pt 1 was my least favorite though. Part 3 would've finished ahead of Kansas, as would have Aebrogatehell/Aeghammernoir. So in the end, it only cost you a point.

Neither would've beaten the Kreator.

I can't fucking stand Alestorm so I'm actually pleasantly surprised by that. Your thoughts, oddly, echo exactly how I feel about that song. Note: I wanted to send Ensiferum's Deathbringer From The Sky, but obviously that was banned. I also thought about Symphorce's Become Death but that probably would've scored even worse. Pretty psyched I'm still in 5th  :lol

This roulette's been very fun, TAC - you'll get my songs tomorrow, or Sunday at the absolute latest. I'm definitely going to send you something I truly love to close this thing out. I hope you hate them.  :loser:

Im really pleasantly surprisrd to see that Agalloch score. Its not my favorite song of theirs but based on your response i think theres a good chance youd enjoy their more straightforward album, Ashes Against the Grain.

I could have sworn that that Kansas song will absolutely tank, because it was my fourth or fifth choice, the others being banned or rejected.

Shows me that the more thought I put in, the less I will score. And if I don't give a shit, I score really well.  ;D

Let's see how that works in the bonus round. Will sent probably tonight.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

Yeah, nice and close for the final round.  I actually hate that it's an open round, more chance to fuck it, and I seem to perform better when I know what I'm aiming for.

I'll have 2 songs sent in 24 hours if that's not too late.  That's Monday night my time, should be fine.

I toyed with the idea of resending 2 themes that didn't quite work, or 2 bands that didn't quite work, just to keep in the spirit of the game but not sure if I'll go that way.

Got a few different options, although probably nothing really that would make me challenge Ruslan, but I don't mind.  Want to keep it in the theme of the roulette of songs I should have sent, others I also wanted to send or just songs I missed until afterwards.

So in Round 2 Evermind sent me The Girl In The Raven Mask by Avatarium.

I loved the song and said I would definitely be checking this album out. Well, I did just that tonight. I was reminded that Evermind said this:

Don't buy the album just yet, the rest of it is quite different from this song, and overall I prefer their first one, which is also quite different from this song.

Yes, this song is definitely not representative of this album. There's really only one other upbeat (rocking) song..Run Killer Run, which is also really cool. The rest is pretty brooding. Lots of old school influences as you can clearly hear Black Sabbath and Deep Purple here. I thought The January Sea was the best of the rest. And that cover of In My Time Of Dying just doesn't work.

Parama won the Moon half of the Sun & Moon round with Parius' Crashing Black Moon.

He said this:

Also hell yeah knew you'd dig Parius
The rest of the album isn't as good IMO but it's basically in line with that song

Crashing Black Moon is the best song on this..EP?  It's only 29 minutes.

I thought Into The Realm and Eldritch were a great way to start this. Eldritch is an amazing tune. The musicianship on this is amazing.
The Binding and Between Hell & I really tested my harsh vocal/music ratio. But The Boundless was much better with a great mid song interlude that was fantastic.

Finally, last post for the night..

Apparently Stadler knew he would get nowhere with Bolsters on Friday, and I think he was remorseful.
He called me this morning and said he had a Groupon and was meeting a friend and asked if I wanted to come along...

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol
