What I mean is this, artists that you get into that in retrospect you probably should have much sooner than you did, but you didn't for whatever reasons. I have a running joke now with a few friends that I seemingly have one of these a year now...
XTC - given my love for 80's music, no clue why I procrastinated so long in getting into them. Once I dug into them in the spring of '18, they dominated my CD player for the rest of the year, and have remained a band I listen to quite often since.
R.E.M. - always sorta liked them, but finally dug deep into them in the fall of '19 and was thrilled at how much I loved a lot of their work; at the time, my younger brother, who had been telling me for years to listen to them more, called it my most shocking 180 ever.
Alanis Morissette - this became an even bigger 180, as after decades of disliking her voice a lot, outside of a few songs, I stumbled across a few songs of hers on YT, checked them out on a whim, and was shocked at how all of a sudden, her vocals were to my liking. I am now a big fan.
Taylor Swift - this is still my my shocking one to date; I am still stunned at this turn of events. I guess I can thank COVID for this one since if COVID never happens, she never records Folklore and Evermore, I don't stumble across glowing reviews of them, and I continue to dismiss her as a country/pop superstar who is not worth my time to check out.
