So for this show (I'm guessing because it was the last show of the tour) they had FIVE openers. We missed Monstro, saw a bit of Tiger! Tiger! (female-fronted alt-rock stuff. It was all right), Red Fang, Dillinger (wasn't a bit fan of the music, but the singer did a good job of getting the crowd worked up), and then Black Lips (pretty much straight punk). A very eclectic mix, to be sure. Well, Mastodon did play, and they rocked the faces off of everyone. I managed to get in the pit for Megalodon, Spectrelight, and Blood and Thunder. It was a lot more fun than I expected it to be. You could see Troy was struggling a bit with the clean vocals halfway through the show, but from what I could tell he was never really "bad," if that makes sense. Also, for "Creature Lives," they got a bunch of their family members and the opening bands, dressed them up in monks robes, and got them on stage to sing along. They also released green balloons at the end. It was really cool to see. Fucking heaviest show I've been to.
