All right, ticket for Anaheim is booked.  Ticket for Toronto is also booked, but I'll work out the flight/hotel/passport logistics along the way.  The show in Highland is promoted via AXS and they don't have a presale.  Just regular sale on Friday, so I'll wait until then.

I was going to do a surprise for the fam, and fly from the Reno gig for the Highland gig, since it closes out the tour. The problem is, it's a casino and 21+ even for concerts. Which sucks. That would have been four shows for us. But can't do it. Would have been perfect though, on a Saturday.

I'm pretty happy with Seattle, Spokane and Reno. But sucks we have to travel to all these. They totally skipped the Bay Area, and they had been religious about playing San Fran the last few tours. I miss home in New York...and this is one of the reasons.

Well, got 2nd row dead center for the third show. So I'm fifth row, second row, third row. Not bad at all. I am annoyed at myself about the second row one. I had a chance for first row dead center, and the system (independent here, not TM) was weird, I clicked on a seat and didn't realize you had to click on each individually, so I spent 20 seconds screwing that up. I recovered enough to get second row dead center and figure it out, but I was NOT pleased. First world problems. I am pretty happy and grateful to have three shows sitting within the first five rows, all center.

Now I kinda want to sneak in a fourth... :lol

That said, while I never heard of Alterbridge until I went to this forum, they are playing an arena in Amsterdam, so it seems they are popular here.

Yeah, they are gigantic in Europe. One of their live albums was done in Amsterdam.

Not sure what you mean by gigantic. In Germany they play the same venues that DT used to play with a capacity ranging from 3000 to 5000 people.
Must've been Kwyji sending all the wrong songs.   ;D

^^ Well, for people from the states looking at the venues they play in Europe in comparison to what they normally play in the states, that's gigantic in comparison.  I'm still content with the smaller venues here though.  The Anaheim HOB is all GA, so all I need to do is wait out three hours before the doors open and I get at least a 5th row spot after they let the VIP meet and greet people and the fastlane people in.  I may still consider getting the VIP anyway to guarantee a front and center rail spot.  It's better that way than if they played at FivePoint Amphitheater or Honda Center like their bigger contemporaries play at where I am at the nosebleeds at around the same price I paid for the GA ticket at House of Blues.

The sad, but not really sad at all, part is that my streak of seeing the last 4 AB shows they played will end come November.  I fared pretty well with my spots there.  I was in the 2nd row for three shows near where Myles' side of the stage and 3rd row for the Spokane show back in 2020 and the 2nd row spots was really a 1.5 row spot since I always found myself behind a person on a wheelchair that's following the band on tour as well.  Got to love it.

Now to look into planning a trip in Toronto for a weekend in February.  It's going to be super cold there at that time will it?

Not sure what you mean by gigantic. In Germany they play the same venues that DT used to play with a capacity ranging from 3000 to 5000 people.

3 Arena in Dublin - 13,000 capacity

AO Arena - Manchester - 21,000 capacity

Resorts World Arena - Birmingham - 15,685 capacity

The O2 Arena - London - 20,000 capacity

OVO Hydro Arena - Glasgow - 14,300 capacity

Motorpoint Arena - Nottingham - 10,000 capacity

Ziggo Dome - Amsterdam - 17,000 capacity

>>>>Need I go on? Maybe I should have said "UK and western Europe" instead? Or "parts of Europe?" The point is - AB is GIGANTIC in comparison with the United States.

Anguyen - I am happy we get to see AB in smaller venues. I just wish they had the success they do here, as they do in Europe so that they can tour more, and for longer here. But that ship has probably sailed. Yes, Toronto will be ridiculously cold in February. At least for a SoCal guy such as yourself.  :lol

Some of those places are not big places.   The Paramount was where I saw Slash and Myles two tours ago (I was in front and exchanged nice words with Myles) and the Dome at Wallingford is not the main theater where DT has played the last 28 tours.  Interesting.
Is that the area you pointed out at the DT show? right outside the seating area?

Sorry to jump in, but I was just about to ask where this venue was.  Is the 'Dome' the actual lobby of the venue?!

You can replace AB with almost every other rock/metal band and it's still true

So according to the wiki page, take it for what it's worth, it looks like the Dome part of the venue is the smaller of the two rooms in the building.  The one with 1,649 people capacity.

Yeah, the dome is basically the main lobby for the Oakdale Theatre.  Stadler showed this to Vmadera and I when we saw DT there earlier this year.  The dome was the original venue before they built the theater part.  I am a bit surprised this show would be there and not the theater though unless the band specifically wanted a GA crowd?

In the Bay Area, AB played:

The Regency Ballroom on the AB III tour: 1,400 capacity
The Warfield Theater on the Fortress tour: 2,300 capacity
Regency - Last Hero Tour
Regency - Walk the Sky Tour

>>>>Clearly, Dream Theater is more popular, in general in the states. They played The Fox Theater in Oakland the last swing, which was 2,800.

But Alter Bridge is by far and away more popular than DT in MOST of Europe.

Not that it matters. If you're in this thread, and on this board, you at least like both bands, I would assume.

The capacity of the dome is basically what they would normally play up to anyway in a stateside show. 1,600 people seems right for them.  Also, Connecticut is not really a major area for them in the Northeast unlike the usual obvious spots (NYC, Jersey, Boston, Philly, etc.).

But the theater can be sectioned off too.  Not like DT is packing that theater these days (it was sectioned off). The reality is likely costs.  I bet if that sold out they'd consider opening up the theater side to move it to or go that route the next time.  Putting the show in the bowl probably means less cleaning and security and less costs overall to put the show on.  Just a guess.

Funny story about that dome. I was taking guitar lessons when I was living in CT for undergrad, and I told my teacher that I was going to see DT at the Oakdale (8VM tour). He told me to pay attention to the lobby. I went to the show, and then told him I noted the lobby when I had my lesson the next week. He was like "Yeah, that used to be the whole venue and I saw Zeppelin there"... so jealous :lol

Wow. When I was there 20+ years ago, it was the first and only time, and I thought the large lobby was odd. Cool story, and equally jealous.

For those of us who are actually fans of Alter Bridge, have you spent any time coming up with a "best of" from them for each album? I started going through it in my head, and put the following restrictions on myself. No more than four songs per album, but not less than two. Here is what I came up with (in no order except chronologically by album) - and this was extremely difficult. I left off tunes that mean a lot to me:

One Day Remains:

The End is Here
One Day Remains
Metalingus
In Loving Memory

Blackbird:

Blackbird
Wayward One
Ties That Bind
Watch Over You

AB III:

Slip to the Void
Isolation
Words Darker Than Their Wings
Show Me a Sign

Fortress:

Fortress
Cry of Achilles
Calm the Fire

The Last Hero:

Show Me a Leader
Cradle to the Grave
My Champion

Walk the Sky:

Dying Light
Native Son
Walking on the Sky
Wouldn't You Rather

>>>And don't get me wrong, I could add many more songs. I just tried to confine it to a simple set of rules. But man, that would be one hell of a two-hour set!

Wait, is this list based off of our favorite songs from the albums or something where if we were to introduce someone to these albums, which songs would showcase the band well?  I may have two different lists.

Here is what I would suggest that give you an idea of what they are (and some appear on my list of favorites too):

Wayward One
Words Darker Than Their Wings
Show Me a Sign
Calm the Fire
Come to Life
Cry of Achilles
Writing on the Wall
Save Me (a cool b-side from their first record, appears on the Elektra soundtrack if I am remembering right)
Burn it Down

Well, got the ticket for the Highland, CA at a casino.  Got the GA section.  I feel like there's a catch to this.  Can't post a picture of the seating chart, but the GA section is obviously closer to the stage, but the more expensive seats are further away.  I guess this is where I will get suckerpunched on the day of the show.  Only costed $40.00 as well.

No matter.  What's done is done.  Three shows booked, all three are in the GA sections. Toronto, Anaheim, and Highland.  Fun times ahead.

So AB added a SECOND show in Spokane, as the first one sold so quickly. So the fam and I are going to stay for that.

This will be fun. Seeing FOUR Alter Bridge shows in the span of 1.5 weeks. On the Walk the Sky tour, they were mixing up setlists, so I hope that continues, and if so, we'll have a good chance of seeing everything that they're playing.

It's been 19 years since I saw this many shows on a tour leg. I remember my wife and I going to two of the  QR/DT/FW shows in 2003, then two of the QR Tribe headline shows that fall, and then I did another back at home on Long Island the next month. That was five, so this four in a row by AB is a lot. Happy to do it though. With Tremonti's solo band, Myles solo and with Slash, you just don't know when this is all going to end, so I am pretty excited to share this with my wife and fam. Our daughter is absolutely blown away and can't wait.

That QR, DT, FW tour was a dream bill for me. One of my favorite shows ever.
