Man how many years has AFI been around. I remember AFI being one of the first shows that I went two at least over 10 years ago.

I've seen them twice, and met the singer both in 2001.  Been the same 4 guys for 20 years or so now.  10th album just released.  They aren't as popular anymore and I'm not as big of a fan anymore since the music changed a lot, but I still LOVE Davey Havok (the singer) and there are still good songs on their newer albums so I am super pumped to see them again.  I mean, when I saw them it was before they even released their two best and most popular albums

Paradise Rock Club to see AFI Saturday night.  Have you ever been?  Looks like a small spot (1k capacity it says) which will be awesome to see AFI there in such a small venue.  They sold out tonight as well in NYC at a 3k capacity venue.

I've never heard of AFI.

I've been to The Paradise twice. Saw a buddy play there and the last time I was there I saw Flotsam & Jetsam in 1994. Not sure what it's like now.
Back in the day, most bands either played at Axis or Avalon. There were right next door to each other literally across the street from The Green Monster. They've been levelled for the new House Of Blues.

Cram, about 2 miles past The Paradise is The Sunset Grill & Tap that has good food and 120 beers on tap and 400 beers total including bottles.

Well they aren't metal or prog so it doesn't surprise me that they aren't well known on this forum.  They were a punk/hardcore band and then turned into more of a rock band although I'm not totally sure of the type of genre they are now.

The comment about 20 years being together was more so about because they changed their style almost every other album and also went from a band drawing a couple hundred a night to a few thousand pretty quickly and became an MTV hit for a short period of time including their concert dvd at the same venue as Iron Maiden's Live After Death. Going through all those changes sometimes band members go different ways so to me, I think it's great these guys stuck together and are continuing to evolve.
