Debating getting a ticket to see Paul Gilbert in the city tomorrow night. It's only $30, but the show doesn't start until 10, which means I probably don't get home until 1:15am (unless I want to spring for an Uber home, which would cost more than the ticket itself).

One is 27, this girl who is leaving is 25, and another is 23. Then comes me, then the rest are older than I am.

She's working, but openly checked out and every chance she gets she brags about how she just doesn't care anymore and how great it is to not have to worry about this that or every other thing. She's exemplified just how green she is before, but I really want to smack her smug fucking face. I've resorted to closing my office door and cranking my music so I don't have to overhear her whisperings and gossip about it all.

Yea I hate that, granted when I was a manager I worked in a field where it was an exception to follow your word.

Ugh it sucks when you know someone and think they're cool and then you friend them on Facebook and you suddenly see how they are one of the FUCKING ANNOYING SACKSTITCHES who do nothing but share propaganda links, unproven self-help lifestyle stories, religious and personal agenda items, and contributes to the overall ruination of the social media experience. How are you so cool in person but such a phenomenal wastoid on the internet?

Has it worked?  I've been doing this as well but not on any consistency to notice an effect.

Fffffuck no. Facebook is invariably good at learning what you DO want to see but doesn't seem to give a shit about what you DON'T want to see. The frequency of those posts has not changed in the slightest since I started pointedly doing it after the election.

Yeah, my show was a bit after that tour, I don't think it was nearly as extensive. I had never heard of Paul Gilbert before that night, but he was super impressive, just a notch below Petrucci that night for me and the highlight of the night for a few of my less biased friends.

So my girlfriend's family kind of dropped a bombshell on me last night. Everyone in my girlfriend's family, I mean literally everyone is involved in asphalt. They all own companies that revolve around the creation and laying down of asphalt. All make great money in southern CT. My girlfriend's father has no sons, whereas every other owner has at least three that are already building their own companies and/or expanding their father's. Well, last night I was told they'd like me to take over her father's company. They know I hate the corporate world, and her father followed a very similar college/early career path as me, so he gets it.

Really not sure what I want to do. I'd love to do it, and I'm really leaning toward it, but times of uncertainty in the economy scare me. Also, I'd have to work under her dad for about 35% less than I'm making now for a couple years while I learn the industry and their network. I would end up running the company and giving her parents a percentage of the business during their retirement years. I'd inherit it all once they die without ever having to buy it from her father. He's got over $2M in equipment alone, and a huge client base in Stamford and Greenwich.

That sounds awesome and totally makes sense for you to be questioning and nervous about such a decision.  But knowing you hate your current job, it looks like something fell on your lap to get you out of there and in a better long term position.  Hope it works out.

In other news - since I gave up sugar and processed food and bread on Jan 1st - i've gone from 13 stone 5 to 12 Stone 10 - which is nearly 10 lb !

I can definitely see the difference at least in my face. My goal is to get down to 12 Stone ( 168 lb ) at least.

I've actually found it really easy not to have sugar in my tea or buy soft drinks or snack between meals...
