It was, it really was! Miller was the pitcher with the lowest run support in the MLB!

Cubbies… I can't wait to see them go far.  Either way, whether they win or lose tomorrow night, they've had an incredible season and have exceeded expectations, and the only way to go from here is up. Theo Epstein has done an amazing job bringing this club up from the basement.

Cheer up Yankees fans! Sure your post season started and ended in 3 hours but look at the bright side, you have 27 championships! That ought to tide you over. :tup

Are Cards fan still not over that?

In general I think they are. the only confusing think is him being so adamant that it wasn't about the money...it was about having the chance to win more world series championships? I mean....that's just silly to think the Angels over 10 years were going to get more chances than the Cardinals. Like Lance Berkman said when he was negotiating his second deal with the Cardinals. "Anyone who tells you it's not about the money is lying.....it's always about the money"

I think it's funny and fitting that Albert will be watching the Cardinals compete in the post season again....that they haven't missed a beat (and are actually in a better spot thanks to him not signing) since he abandoned the fans and his team for more $$.

Like I said....he could have retired here a living legend and been celebrated to no end for as long as he lived. I don't know how much of what the rest of the country sees but retired Cardinals are treated like royalty in this town....no joke. He'd have been at the top of the heap even more than Gibson, Ozzie and McGee are. But thanks to that retarded 10 year service clause he signed with the Angels for 'after' he retires it'll be ages before he even gets the chance to have that type of reception here and frankly I think by then it'll be too late for him.

Wow....Cards/Cubs Playoff Series :metal   Should be a fun one. I'm worried that Arietta may be this years Baumgartner :tdwn  and I detest the (5) game series to no end. (7) game series the 'actual' best team typically wins, (5) game series a fluke play can be crippling and unable to recover from like you could in a (7) game. but dems' da rulz......so, it'll be fun to send the Cubbies packing!! ;)

Five games series are fine, I don't see what the extra two games really add that makes the whole thing fluky.

I just think best of 7 is the 'best' way to have a victor. Winning 3 of 5 is easier than winning 4 of 7 IMO.  The teams that win 4 of 7 are 'usually' the team that should have. 3 of 5 can give a "lucky" win to a team and that's huge.

Speaking of fluky, I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I hate the second wild card, in no small part because it is a one-game play-in which brings it down to either a fluke play or one team having an ace pitcher have a good night. The whole things seems manufactured to boost ratings and create "drama" which ultimately comes off as artificial (unlike legitimate instances of Game 163 which are more naturally dramatic).

I honestly am as well. I like the Cards and cheer for them but it's good to see the Cubs in the playoffs.

but I dislike the Cards more.

This has to be because we are there year after year despite not overpaying for the 'superstars' and actually developing talent, getting the most out of every player and having developed a culture of (as Charlie Sheen would say) 'winning'.

If the Dodgers had a playoff worthy bullpen, that game would have gone into extra innings.  But....they don't.  3 western titles in a row don't mean anything if you can't beat the central and/or east.

Winning the NL West feels like being the minor league team of the year compared to the central and east.  I don't know how the Giants won it all last year.

Glad the Cubs got one.

And the Dodgers surprised me.  When it was 2-0 I thought they were in trouble.  Sucks for Tejada though, but the slide didn't look hard enough to break a leg(?)

Still don't like the fact that Maddon sat Schwarber when he was hitting over 600. But Soler clearly worked. Can either of those two play 1st or 3rd? Bryant and Rizzo are now 0-22. WTF?!

The only thing that tics me about the Cards loss is the fact that Garcia had the freakin flu, told Matheny and Matheny still decided to pitch him after Garcia said 'sure, I can pitch'. Of course a competitor is going to say that! Sit Garcia, pitch whoever and let that be that. Let Garcia start game 3 or 4 when he's feeling better.

Garcia and Matheny let that team down yesterday.

And the third inning is exactly why I hate best of 5 series.

All the fielding errors were not Garcia's fault.

Other than that I agree with you.

Utley is suspended for two games, appeal in process.  Can someone explain to me how the  :censored that slide was "late"?  Where was he supposed to go???  Any where else and he could have been in the path of a throw!  The only place he could go was down.

And Tejada still had the ball when Chase hit him.  It was a bang-bang play.  Tejada couldn't get a throw off!

Are you serious? Utley never even tried for the bag and he didn't start "sliding" until right when he got towards the bag. It was a 100% dirty play with intent just like many other tackles Utley has done in the past.

Sorry, but there is nothing else to do with that post other than laugh at it.

Utley broke the rule by going out of base path and after Tejada.  That is against the rules.

He should have been suspended for the rest of the playoffs, considering the Mets are now without their 2B because of his dirty slide.
