Quote from: Metro on March 31, 2025, 08:10:20 AMI agree it's anti-climactic. I think that's  partially because of the subject matter. A Sleep Paralysis Demon is an interesting subject, but where do you go with it?
The message of the song just seems to be "This creep is out there, so watch out!"

So it's basically a public service announcement warning us about the Shadow Man and encouraging us to sleep with a light on - what's wrong with that?  :lol

So they ARE planning an acoustic album next - what better way to conserve electricity than by playing unplugged?

I knew there was a hidden nugget in there somewhere.  I think you hit the nail on the head, or rather pulled the plug out of the wall and put your finger to the light switch  :lol

This guy Valerio doing an awesome job covering TSMI on guitar. Someday I would love it if someone like Wolfking would go through these riffs and explain keys and chord fingerings and stuff 'cause JP is really throwing some stuff down in this one.

Is there specific part you have a question about?

Yes, specifically the riff that starts after the "marching drum beat" section in the intro.

That riff is based on a three note per string pattern. It appears to be based around a diminished tonality which is something John likes to use. The phrasing of the 3 note riff reminds me of a guitar part in BITS. Anywho, he moves that 3 note shape up a whole step and plays it there. Then moves it down a minor third from where it started.

I kind of hear the whole thing as a very guitaistic way to play with certain darker intervals (minor 2nds, minor 3rds, flat 5s). Others can chime in if they have a different way of thinking about it.
