The snippet sounds a lot like "Third law" by Leprous. That is good in my opinion.

Quote from: SeRoX on December 02, 2024, 09:12:53 AMThe mix sounds weird to me

I listened to it a few more times. Regarding the mix, I would complain about the bass in the released excerpt. There is a lack of bass sound there.

The drums sound really good in the mix.

Dream Theater with Mike Portnoy back, good drum sound and bad bass sound. A bit nostalgic.

MP and JP have said that Night Terror is not the most 'metal' track of Parasomnia and they considered releasing the most ballsy song as a single. So, I guess this is the one...

3rd here in Aus right now but no luck.  Bugger.  Thought I'd get a listen in before everyone.  ;D

I still think Night Terror will be the worst song on the album and I predict many will like A Broken Man better than it. At least, that's been my hope :lol Night Terror isn't bad but it doesn't exactly psyche me up for new DT.

Don't expect it to be anything different from what they've been churning out for well over a decade now, but we'll see...

I for one am excited for the new single. The snippet sounds pretty good.

Indeed.

Wonder if it's a coincidence the tone of several of their posts is similar to a couple of forumers who've recently departed? Nah. Probably just me.

It's 10:30 in Italy and YouTube tells me that the video premiers at 17:00, that would be european central time. Add 6 hours for New York and some more depending on where you are.

Looks like we're in the same time zone. I'll be sure to be back home from work at around 17:00 anyways.

That's 5 P.M. to you common folks.

The intro is an onslaught, but the track has more dimensions..

It is great having a DT inside man on the forums!

Maybe they'll write a song about him on the next album - The Broken Inside Man.

Does anyone know why the 2 singles so far have not been released on Fridays? Does that not apply to singles, or does DT just not care about the normal release day for music?

MirrorMask

Wasn't this whole "release stuff on friday" thing started just because Beyoncè once did that, and everyone just followed suit?

New singles usually come out at midnight for each timezone but DT, for whatever reason, have decided to release singles at a specific time for everyone. Waiting sucks :lol

DreamerTV

In recent years, with record sales having virtually no relevance anymore, it was believed that appearing in the charts held some significance in terms of public visibility.
Today, the only factors that determine the ability to break out of one band niche are the algorithms of platforms, particularly those of Spotify and YouTube.
Therefore, the release day is now truly irrelevant.

not sure if she has anything to do with it, but releasing things on Fridays has been done worldwide ever since 2015 I'm quite sure (and in Germany ever since 2005, this I know for a fact), simply because it's easier to coordinate worldwide release on one day of the week, (as opposed to every country doing it in their own way, which was common until a certain point) there can be exceptions when it comes to singles though.

That's the reason why albums are (or were) released on Friday

Billboard tracks sales from Friday to Thursday each week. So by releasing on Friday, you're getting in on day one to hopefully chart the next week

There used to be charts for singles as well, but nobody cares.

Yeah I wonder if this is the band's doing or the label, trying some new approach. Maybe it worked well with NT and they will try again. I was up until midnight yesterday specifically for this but it's fine  :corn  :lol

noxon

*ahem* I might have had something to do with this, as when we were in the planning meetings I brought up the frustrations of the single releases being attached to midnight, and asked them to look into making it a world wide, same time, release...

Zydar

Good. I can't remember the last time I voluntarily was still awake at midnight. Definitely not to listen to a song. I'm an old fart who goes to bed early.

To me, this is actually better - we'll all be able to listen to it at the same time.
