DT Song Wars - 2025 Version: Volume 1

Alright, with a new album out, it felt like time for the return of the DT song wars!!

Basically, pick which grouping of songs you like the best.

For those unfamiliar, this is just for fun and a way to create more chatter.

Wow! That was hard than it should be. But I guess I have to go with 4. Bend The Clock is absolute new favourite. Home is classic and S2N is one of my fav from DoT.

But At Wit's End, on the other hand...

Tough call, but I went with #2 mainly on the strength of Beyond This Life and Transcending Time.

Went with Night Terror, Beyond This Life, At Wit's End, Transcending Time. Night Terror is alright, but my favourites are the other three. I will always like the blatant ode to Rush that is Transcending Time.

Interesting groupings.  I went with Bend the Clock, Home, S2N, Awaken the Master.  Pretty much nonstop awesomeness from start to finish on that one.

Midnight Messiah, Strange Deja Vu, Pale Blue Dot, Sleeping Giant was a close second, but narrowly lost out since Midnight Messiah might be my least favorite of the five new songs in the poll and Strange Deja Vu, while solidly good, isn't completely amazing.

I consider "Home" a top-tier song, so that coupled with my personal favorite ("Bend the Clock") off the new record made 4 an easy pick.

Would have been an easy win for #2, but then I don't really like Transcending Time, so that drags it down closer to the others - which are all fairly well matched for my tastes.

Ahh, I'll just stick with 2

Close, to be sure, but I went with Dead Asleep, Finally Free, Fall into the Light, The Alien.

Ooof, that was hard. I went with 5 because I really dig All the songs.
I almost did 4 with Home (top 5 or higher song for me) but Bend the Clock and Awaken the Master I like less than A Broken Man and Answering the Call.

Let's be honest it's the SFAM song that carry the weight here.

I voted for the Finally Free group, but maybe I should have voted for Home / Bend the Clock

Super tough one! I voted the bottom cohort as I feel it was no real weak songs and 2 tier ones. The top cohort had a case as well despite my reservations about Midnight Messiah.

SFAM:  Home (5) > Tragedy (10) > SDV (21) > BTL (24) > FF (26)

DOT:  S2N (28) > Barstool (35) > PBD (66) > AWE (69) > FITL (not in my top 100)

View:  View (48) > Alien (55) > Time (65) > Giant/Master (not in my top 100) (although, in retrospect, I'd probably switch Alien and Time)

I haven't heard the Parasomnia songs enough to rank them (except that TSMI is a clear frontrunner, but it's not one of the options).

So...option #4 would seem to be the choice for me, but I'll ruminate on this a bit before actually voting.
