I'm not a fan of Hugh (and others) saying this is the original line up of DT. It's bothersome to me for some reason.

Quote from: jammindude on October 11, 2024, 11:11:16 AMI just checked on my order at Laser CD and mine was $144. $153 after adding the $9 priority mail shipping.

Okay, so the price did go up from at least $144 to $149. Interesting... it's only a few bucks, but I'm glad I got my order in earlier this morning!

would that be a common thing? (prices going up in an instant I mean)

The wall that the spider is on is much dirtier than before as well, but the wall that joins it in the corner is really clean behind the girl's hands which looks weird. Clearly a mistake which, once again, given what DT probably pays him, had me rolling my eyes.
The main album cover has changed a little too - the girl has moved slightly further forward and the text has moved up slightly.
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

You want surprises?

The last song, the epic-length one, is straight country, brother.

Life would be harder if I didn't find humour in anything that even remotely has the potential to be absurd.

I guess Hugh and others don't care about facts, since it is factually inaccurate to say that this is the original (recording) lineup, unless of course we just want to ignore the first three.  :lol  :lol

Max Kuehnau

"classic lineup" probably is more appropriate I'd guess (whatever that may mean to people)

Does anyone know what the hand numbered cert of authenticity is from having ordered similar in the past? Is it like an autographed photo?

Quote from: CodyWanKenobi on October 11, 2024, 10:59:06 AMHugh uploaded the artwork to his Instagram. Noticed the doorknob on the Night Terror artwork is fixed.

EDIT*
Actually, it's a completely different door altogether. In fact, there are quite a few differences. Some of the glass shards floating around the girl are different, and there's now also a spider on the wall next to the door.
I think half the complaints Hugh Syme gets are because unfinished works get spread around the internet.  He's not my favorite artist, but this happens every single release.

Pretty sure it's just a piece of embossed paper stating what the product is in text, maybe a fancy gold foil border around the edge, and some sort of stamp and a number of XXXX/3500 or whatever it is. Pretty much just a way to certify that you have an authentic product that is of limited quantity. If there was any photos of the band included in the package, it would be listed separately in the item breakdown.

Agreed. I wonder if this is a common thing with other groups he does work for, or if DT's organization is just that careless when they release information that they're  constantly releasing old drafts instead of the latest, completed version? That being said, the Night Terror artwork that Hugh uploaded to IG himself had a pretty bad mistake where the two back walls meet, so perhaps it's not DT's fault.

Ugh. Ok thanks.

I really wish these box sets would include more things like signed photos of the band. It's really a lot of money for things I'm never going to use (sleep mask?) but I have a lot of music related wall art I like to frame.

Would anyone besides me unironically enjoy hearing DT attempt a country song?  ;D

TheBarstoolWarrior

You're probably right. They would do something like that on a meet and greet package which I could now kick myself for not doing last time.

Hugh limits comment section on DT cover on his IG and all the comments there say how awesome the cover is.  :lol

Sorry guys does anyone know what the art book is in the $49 offering? Is that just an extra CD booklet with different art or is it larger?

Max Kuehnau

the format is larger just because of the nature of it, it will most likely include more art and alternate art, as well as an essay on the album (that's what the previous ones for Distance Over Time and View included) I like the format.

Nuclear blast (nonUSA) has the following info, I wasn't able to find much info on the different configs elsewhere earlier today:

10inch size hardcover artbook with 68-page booklet.

Artbooks, or sometimes called earbooks, are 12"x12" size (so basically vinyl LP cover size), and are usually hard-cover books with large photo pages and lyrics, usually with extra photos and text that isn't included in the typical CD-sized offerings. They've been very popular for rock and metal bands over the last 20 years, and are usually offered with extra CDs, DVDs, and BDs that feature alternate tracks, demos, instrumental versions, high quality audio, and sometimes visual elements like full-album visualizers/music videos, and behind-the-scenes documentaries.

Thanks all!

I am keeping the faith and going with the cd+artbook. This was helpful

I've mostly seen them being referred to this way. I must have missed anything saying the original members.

Ayeegit

Eddie Trunk briefly mentioned the new album on yesterday's show, and said that he texted MP "Congrats, the song and video are cool". Mike replied "Yeah, we had to lead with a ten minute song to give the Dream Theater faithful some "red meat", but we've got another song that's even more metal coming as the next single".

I just noticed a large shadow in one corner of the artwork, and it appears to have a hat. I'm curious about what or who that shadow could be.

But Dream Theater are a Progressive Metal band. If you're not in it for the "Metal" part, are you in it for the "Progressive" part, cuz you can just go to Flo for that if you want.
