If memory serves, they only did Vacant into SOC once or twice.

But you know how memory is.

Quote from: durga2112 on March 03, 2025, 12:28:23 PMJust to add to this, the current tour marks the first time "Vacant" has been played since the Score show in 2006, so this is a really nice treat for those of us who are fans of that song (it has been a favourite of mine ever since I first heard it).

That means I was at the last performance of it before this tour, and the first performance of it since. There's also a similar thing around Metropolis for me: it was the last song I saw at RCMH (2006), and it'll almost certainly be the first song at the same venue in a couple of weeks' time.

According to the Tourography at MP's site, Vacant into SOC was played at 18 shows between January 16 and July 6, 2004 in England (1 show), the Netherlands (1), Germany (2), Switzerland (1), the U.S. (7), Japan (2), SK (1), and Italy (3).

Quote from: Glasser on March 03, 2025, 11:54:03 AMYeah this is reality. I'm going on the 14th and I'm wondering how long I will last. Imagine how the band feels.

I started fading a bit toward the end, but it was more from standing the whole time than being sleepy.

By the way, did anyone notice any actual movement from JM (aside from fingers and arms)?  At the LA show, he was a figurative statue for 99% of the show.  He finally walked over to JP's side during PMU, and I was stunned!

Standing will be the main issue for me. I may be staring at an ass during parts of the show. Fucking awesome.

Gonna throw it out there again in case anyone who might be interested missed it....I have one extra ticket to the Chicago show this Saturday, 3/8, shoot me a message if you're interested.

Yeah, they played the whole of Train of Thought in their first show of the tour in Manchester on January 16th. The next day, which happened to be both my birthday and my first DT show, they dropped Vacant and Stream of Consciousness. I was floored when I realised that seeing Stream at the O2 last year was my first time.

I still have not heard anything about rescheduling the Atlanta show at the Coca-Cola Roxy. The ticket in my Apple Wallet still says "TBA" for the date. Is the latest update is that it will just be "in the Fall"?

I'm not complaining but we drove from Tampa FL for that show... and I'll be driving back! I'm sure they will get to FL for the Parasomnia tour, but I miss the 40th tour with the return of MP, I fear that I'll regret it for the rest of my life!

That really sucks.  I wonder if they have some conflicts to reschedule that are being worked out.  Trying to put it at the end of this tour maybe doesn't work so they are trying to schedule it into the fall tour that may have already been scheduled and it's causing some issues.  Who knows.  But does suck for all those waiting.  Sadly, if it hasn't been announced, I'm finding it harder and harder to believe it will be apart of this tour.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the Denver show. :(

Although, I may be able to see them when they come in the fall either in Denver or Phx.

If I had to guess they are just going to honor everybody's tickets on the parasomnia tour later whenever that happens and then maybe do something special that night.

That kind of sux though. Buying tickets for 40th anny show and not getting to witness it. Why not just tac on after radio city show?

It seems this RCMH gig is gonna be one for the history books. I would love more than anything to be there, even though I just saw DT in Seattle.
It seems this show really needs to be documented, even if they allready filmed the Paris gig for a future release.
It's possible, Nightwish released two shows from the Vehicle of Spirit tour in one package.

Is it? Did I miss some news? It's possible I missed some news. I got tickets to this show cause I thought it was going to be a special thing. But nothing I've seen even hints at that. It seems more likely to just be a normal DT show.

Maybe you guys will get 2 shows in your city on the next run? One night will be 40th to honor the missed gig the other Parasomnia set? They've done similar in the past.

Portnoy replied to a comment on his latest Facebook post (from SLC) asking about this very thing. He said they're still planning sometime in the fall and mentioned he hopes that in a perfect world they can do a double-header with one night being 40th anniversary and the next night being Parasomnia.

No, you haven't missed anything. It's a normal show in terms of the tour. I imagine it'll be special for the band (and many in attendance) in that it's a hometown gig but I believe that's it.

I'm not sure about how many times this happened, but I was at one of the shows!

2003, the Theater at MSG. It was an awesome show. My then boyfriend bought us tickets, and later on had downloaded a bootleg of the show for me!

I actually saw on Facebook this morning that MP responded to a question about this.  He said right now they are trying to reschedule it for the Fall Parasomnia tour, and that ideally they would like to do a two-night stand with the first night being the 40th Anniversary set and the second night being the Parasomnia tour set.  But that isn't finalized.

Think that was 2004, 'cos Manchester on the 16 January was the very first of the tour, if memory serves.

Edit: yeah, just looked. Wow. You got A Change of Seasons! I've never seen that live with MP.

A double-header would be amazing! I hope they do it. Thanks for the update.   ;D

They also played Vacant/SOC at the Summer One-Off Italian shows in 2004. I uploaded this video about a decade ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIMxIVwOEj8 There's something about the camera panning to Renaissance statues and the Florentine skyline while Vacant plays that makes this video quite unique.

Interesting tidbit: during this visit of DT to Tuscany (maybe even the day before or after the show in the video) JP and JM were taken for a ride across the countryside by some young eccentric man bred from royal blood...

It's nothing but conjecture that they'll do something special/different at RCMH - probably because folks are thinking back to the Score show in '06.  I'm hopeful they'll do something different, but I'll enjoy it regardless.

Awaken

Looks like a lot of stops on this tour have sold out - checked in on sales in CT and it looks like only the upper level has availability.  I don't recall them even opening that section for DT recently (if ever).  I'm hoping that means good things for the next US tour stopping back in CT - great venue!!

DTiwbwMP

DT at aftershock on 10/3. I wonder if the festival sets will be "40thish"! I guess that makes sense. :tup

STUM

If anyone can't get a ticket, come to Toronto. Tons of tickets available. Reasonably priced especially if you are using USD. For some reason they were booked into a hockey arena that they could never sell out.

SETLIST SPOILER STUFF

I haven't checked too closely to confirm the following hypothesis, but I wonder if DT has been adding Home to the setlists for those cities that are sold out, as a thank you bonus, which would explain why it kind of appears and disappears in the setlist.  Pure speculation on my part, but it would be interesting if true.

I saw them in Vegas, Reno and Salt Lake. No Home in Reno only. Salt Lake was not sold out. In Reno, James seemed to be having some difficulty with hoarseness. Last Night in Salt Lake was probably the best of the 3.

James was/is sick, simple as that why they left out the encore in some shows

El Barto

My understanding is that it was actually on the Houston setlist, but they opted not to play it. I suspect it's a "how do we feel at the moment" kind of decision.

All I know is that it'll absolutely be played in NYC.

I'm not 100% sold it will be.  The encore seems like a prime spot to do something special like they did in Chile on this tour. Granted, they swapped TSCO and it was on a two night stand, but if there's any shot RCMH gets something special, IMO, it will be in the encore and if Home is already being cut, it might make sense to swap that song.  Having said that, I'd put that at like 5% or less of happening
