I know, I know, Dream Theater aren't known for their catchy choruses, but lately I've been finding some lyrics that I just can't get out of my head.
1: The Enemy Inside
I don't know whether it's the chord sequences, or the easy to pick up lyrics, but this one plays in my head most days
2: Strange Deja Vu
For this one, it's the combination of the string section melody along with the vocal melody that is so satisfying to listen to and to sing along
3: S2N
I know, it's a weird selection, but along with The Enemy Inside, this one dominates my headspace most of the time :lol

Those are my top three, please share yours, along with a little comment if you wish!

These Walls, The Looking Glass and Trial of Tears comes to mind.

Good call on These Walls, love that song.

Trial of Tears is really special to me, especially the chorus. I bought the FII album the day it came out which coincidentally was a week or so after I moved to NYC and I was listening to it while walking up BroadwaY from the Virgin record store. During Trial of Tears and the "It's raining on the streets of new york city" there actually was a light drizzle that came down. I thought that was kind of neat :)

This! And Invisible Monster, Moment of Betrayal, Untethered Angel, Bridges in the Sky, Take the Time, Forsaken, lots of catchy tunes...
The impossible is never out of reach

The Paddies

Indeed, quite a few.

Not mentioned yet: Caught In A Web, Innocence Faded, I Walk Beside You, Pull Me Under, Home, One Last Time (an overlooked song), As I Am, About To Crash (+ Reprise), Take Away My Pain.

so what you're saying is, this Fatal Tragedy you've talked about for years?
Half of my posts are satire; the other half are serious. If you can't tell which half you're looking at, it's probably the former. I enjoy busting chops amongst likeminded fellows. Where better to feel at home than among the fans of the world's most fun band? :)

Yes. Yes I am.

Finally Free, Answering the Call, Untethered Angel are the ones that currently get stuck in my head the most

I had to think about my own, definitely Innocence Faded. That chorus is so big.
Take the Time has my heart eternally too, but the verses rival the chorus. Few songs is that the case.
In the Name of God has such a beautiful giant chorus too, so hard to get out of my head once I remember it exists.

Where to start?

My last Farewell is currently stuck in my head. Before then it was Behind the Veil. I will say that there are more MM era songs where the chorus gets stuck my head rather than the MP era.

Yes, I have found that is definitely the case. I don't know if it's because of a change in the band's style slightly after MP left
Quote from: Jamesman42 on July 19, 2024, 06:46:46 PMUnfortunately, Strange Deja Vu
Unfortunately??? It's gotta have one of their best melodies that they've ever written!

Pull  Me Under. Even if I wanted to get it out of my head the band won't let me.

Definitely Trial Of Tears, and there's a lot of others like The Count Of Tuscany and Sacrificed Sons. But a lot of their songs get stuck in my head

"It's raining, raining..." does get stuck in my head a lot and I barely listen to the song.

Listen to the live versions, the city in which it is raining in changes with each venue, if you want variation!

I feel like "Home" has the penultimate catchy DT chorus, due to the 3-7-1 movement of the chord changes. It has essentially been stuck in my head since 99!
