Only thing that matters to me is the music and production quality.

Story, album title, Met 3...none of it matters to me.

Pretty much same for me. "Good" lyrics or whatever is just a bonus for me.

The only reason that the Orullian-novel is released in October, is the celebration of it's 25th aniversary. Period.

And all of the sudden there are pages here filled with Metropolis pt. III. Exactly nothing indicates such a thing.

Off; what really interest me in the Q@A is that they hinted on easter eggs to link the Metropolis world from the past, with The Astonishing. Past and future innertwined.

But back on #16, we doesn't have the speculate or judge it being something that it really isn't. It could also be When Dream and Day Re-re-reunite, or so. We simply don't know by now.

Honestly, I kinda hope it's M3, I hope it's a new story following new characters, and I hope it's really good. Whatever it is, I just want to like it. They've made plenty of albums that aren't Metropolis Pt 3 that yall don't like, so who cares if it's Metropolis Pt 3 as long as it's good? Dream Theater's spectrum is so unbelievable wide with classic and metal at both ends. And I adore everything they put somewhere in between. For me, I am just over the moon there will be another studioalbum and it's they're first release with Portnoy, for me being a fan.

Where ever they wanted to go with this album, I am totally fine with.

What if... the band responds to the fans by doing one conceptional song named Metropolis-3 to end the story. (if there is an end though in that story.)

One of the things that can happen with concept albums like Scenes or the Astonishing is that the songs can sound awkward out of context. It can be different from just throwing on Enemy Inside or something. I find that sometimes I think 'I don't want to listen to Scenes' even though I technically have the choice of listening to one and done. Pulling out a New Beginning just by itself sounds like I am missing something though I sure as hell am not going to listen to more of the Astonishing. Same kind of thing with Fatal Tragedy.

That's another reason why I hope this is not Metropolis 3 or any concept album for that matter.

i'm kinda hoping for diversity in sound like they did on 6doit and octavarium, though for the latter make it sound like dreamtheater instead of muse/u2 etc

Yeah I feel new characters would be the only way it would work... but personally I hope it's not metropolis 3 because I'd prefer an album with more personal relatable lyrics... clean slate. I highly doubt it'll be Metropolis tho, because they usually don't like doing the obvious thing, and there's a lot of speculation abt it, but who knows. I'll be happy as long as it's a fantastic album!

It's surprising that the band didn't give again informations to this subject. He chose mistery's game for communication, concerning this futur album.

I think the news about #16 will take us by surprise .
That's why they don't want to update us about the mixing/mastering.
And while we wait and speculate about anything, one day out of the blue we will get the Big News.

Whoever does the art, I just hope it's a colorful cover. Or, if not colorful, appropriately moody like how Train of Thought's cover captures the feeling of the album in its bleakness
