DT16 Timeline Thread - James finishes recording vocal parts

DT usually spends about 2-4 weeks mixing their albums if I'm not mistaken. But it depends on the album. I know TA took a lot longer cuz JP said they had around 500 tracks total, which is insane.

Not sure how long mastering takes.

well, IIRC, SW doesn't really like their music (if at all), so that's unlikely I guess, and it's no secret that he won't mix anything he doesn't like. (not that I'd mind this time around, since I won't listen to DT16 but anyway )

Aside the release date, I'm wondering if they announce album and songs titles, or reveal the cover art before the O2 gig.

Cover art usually takes 5-10 minutes, I wouldn't think they can fit that in before the show...


Honestly hoping for a memorable album title and cover, something that meets the moment.

We'll probably be left with like a solid month of speculating which song(s) are instrumental and which aren't, if any of them even are. As for when the first single comes out in this mix, I imagine after tracklengths but before writing credits.

The important thing to remember, for everybody, is that it's just music. Have an open mind upon your first spins and either you like it or you don't. Whether it is MP or MM and regardless of what era, it's only music.

It's my 11th new album cycle and this waiting never gets old i must tell ya.
How many emotions upon the waiting and reveal of all these data.
And then the assumptions about the songs, if there's an instrumental, which one is heavy, which one is a ballad (if any) etc.
God i love this whole experience.

Tracklist (and possibly lengths) later

Credits will be only in the booklet

Ok, you've made your point, no need to keep going on about this on every single thread. MM is an actual person so it is very disrespectful to constantly call what he has spent years doing 'rubbish,' and then to blame all the other members faults on him.

Make no mistake, I get asked this a lot too (if not here), because I only choose to listen to MM era DT (although I'm familiar with all their work and I used to enjoy most of MP era DT up until a certain point. I don't anymore. I still like DT, if that makes sense) Including any and all comments about me being mind-blowing of course. I have no issue with people loving any and all DT though, which might be a difference. (and indeed, MP era DT is significantly easier to stomach for most people than MM era DT, which is why most people are attracted to MP era DT and indeed they are happy about him rejoining)

I don't mind though. And I'm still here although MM left, because it's a nice place here. Very friendly people here (myself included hopefully, I always do my best anyway)

I do understand yes. Now, though not strictly him having re recorded I/W and Met2 in the classic sense of the term, yes, I loved his interpretations of these drum parts (he elevated them in various ways) and indeed any version of him doing MP era material, and I mostly loved MP era DT albums concerning the writing anyway (some exceptions), just not the execution of the parts, so it was really nice to be able to hear almost all the MP era material they played when he was in the band (saw that lineup three times live myself), loved all three of them (had to skip the Dramatic Turn tour, sadly as well as the D/T and View tours, mostly for health reasons) I found both DT and Vai through some musician friends btw. (like most people seem to), not because MM was in their ranks at the time (this was around 1996 I guess, he had still been working with Vai at the time. I found both I/W and Fire Garden at the time, these were my respective introductions to their work)
