You linked to the playlist and it confused me for a second. But I think I found what you were talking about about 9 or 10 songs down.

Posted this in the DreamSonic thread because I thought it was really cool. The technology is scary good and is only going to get better.

I think AI Hetfield sounds awesome. A song like PME with Metallica-influenced riffs is going to fit like a glove and it shows there. Metallica was a big influence on JP and I would love to hear AI Hetfield over songs like As I Am, Behind the Veil, Fall Into the Light etc. where you really hear Metallica through those guitar riffs. I've always wondered 'what if' on those songs.

To be fair JLB also fits a tune like PME but there are just so many heavy DT songs that sound awkward with him-- not because he isn't good or did a bad job but because it's not a good stylistic fit for his timbre. And obviously there are many songs that he sounds better on like anything on the Astonishing, Anna Lee, Beneath the Surface etc.

Awe damn. I missed your post. Sorry. It's creepy how good AI is.

Never hearing AI fucking vocals before, it sounds like they took JLB's vocal track and made AI turn it into Hetfield and then put those new vocals back over the music. Is this an example of when they force the AI to listen to a ton of Hetfield vocals and then warp JLB's voice to become Hetfield's? I am behind the times on the AI stuff.
\o\ lol /o/

Architeuthis

That sounded horrendous to me!  😆🤮

The Yeeeaahhh part is funny though..

I think you are probably right. In general that is how the AI stuff works: feed in a ton of data and eventually the AI learns to replicate. As good as it is you can hear something is not quite enough right with the AI Hetfield part. Still sounds cool and realistic in my opinion.

EDIT: I should add that I really like it except for the 'YEAAAH!' which although a signature move does not fit the song at all  :lol

The Great Ape

You get a call. There's a panicked voice on the line. It's your grandson. He says he's in deep trouble — he wrecked the car and landed in jail. But you can help by sending money. You take a deep breath and think. You've heard about grandparent scams. But darn, it sounds just like him. How could it be a scam? Voice cloning, that's how.

Artificial intelligence is no longer a far-fetched idea out of a sci-fi movie. We're living with it, here and now. A scammer could use AI to clone the voice of your loved one. All he needs is a short audio clip of your family member's voice — which he could get from content posted online — and a voice-cloning program. When the scammer calls you, he'll sound just like your loved one.

So how can you tell if a family member is in trouble or if it's a scammer using a cloned voice?

Don't trust the voice. Call the person who supposedly contacted you and verify the story. Use a phone number you know is theirs. If you can't reach your loved one, try to get in touch with them through another family member or their friends.

Scammers ask you to pay or send money in ways that make it hard to get your money back. If the caller says to wire money, send cryptocurrency, or buy gift cards and give them the card numbers and PINs, those could be signs of a scam.

If you spot a scam, report it to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

Just listened to a bit of this. At first I was like, "yeah! This is how it should be!" Then I realized one of the only songs I like, A Life Left Behind, takes away some of my favorite James lines. So to be honest, I have mad respect for the person that does this but this just solidifies my view that nothing can be done to make this album salvageable. Very cool experiment though.

Some bizarre choices for a couple of the main vocalists. I mean, Zachary Stevens and Sharon den Adel are weird picks.

I'm not going to listen to it but I thought considering Zak's catalog he would be a good choice for a project like TA?

I'm just not a fan of Zak's vocals. I tolerate him in Savatage, but I can't stand Circle II Circle and Archon Angel is just more Frontiers fodder with a vocalist I can't stand.
