1. Co headliner... I don't know. I just hope DT goes on before them so I can go home early.
2. Support..Witherfall

No co-headliners!!! Only DT headlining!

My choice?
Dream Theater headlining (1.5 hours)
Liquid Tension special guest (1 hour)
Sons of Apollo opening (45 mins)
all-star jam encore (ala what they did when they co-headlined with QR)
Quote from: BlobVanDam on November 13, 2015, 07:37:14 PMAs a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Could it get more gagworthy than that? ;D

Those are the most corniest things you can do. If I were God Of Concerts, I'd outlaw them on my first day.

Just the opposite, IMO. It was what really made that DT/QR tour "especially special". When I first heard about it, I was kinda "meh" on the idea, but when I saw the show, it was really a highlight. So gagworthy? Absolutely not.

No co-headliners and no opening act(s). I don't need them nor would I want them at a DT show.
All my natural instincts are begging me to stop
But somehow I carry on, heading for the top
A physical absurdity, a tremendous mental game
Helping me understand exactly who I am

Well, considering they are selling about a thousand tickets per show from the recent postponed shows, I don't see A) How they CAN'T tour this summer, & B) How they MUST be part of a package tour. It looks like it's that or NOTHING!

Ben_Jamin

Dream Theater
Coheed and Cambria
David Maxim Micic

Now this would be one hell of a lineup

goo-goo

DT
Tesseract
Plini

I would have chosen Arch Echo as well but they are already going to tour with DT so chose Plini instead.

There WAS a co-headling tour in the works before Covid. No idea whether it will recrystalize. Folks are still talking, but I'm not counting on it.

No.  If I get word that it might be back in the works, I may drop a subtle hint or two for the vigilant.  But nothing to offer at this time.

Peter Mc

If we're doing a co-headline, I'd probably say Devin Townsend, not sure many of the other bands mentioned are on the level of Dream Theater for them to co-headline, certainly not QR anymore sadly.

Neal Morse Band opening would be nice or maybe give Circus Maximus a go if they're still about.

LKap13

Symphony X... with Symph X playing the intro to the title track. HAHA!

Well, the upcoming tour as already been announced with an opening act.  Sorry.

Yeah I'm with Scottie on this one even though I didn't see this example, usually when bands do these things it's often the highlight of the show.

Those kind of jams can definitely be cool, but Sons of Apollo is mediocre, and Sherinian burned his bridges and doesn't deserve to ever share a stage with JLB or JR again.   Not to mention that an all-star jam featuring both Portnoy and Mangini would be a terrible idea.

Wishful thinking on my part I guess. A Dream Theater/Haken tour would be incredible, although I know you're not a fan of the latter.

This is pretty much where I am as well.  The joint encores with Queensryche were spectacular.  But a "DT+side projects tour" is about the most uninteresting way I can think of for DT to tour.  And while I can see Mike and possibly Derek joining them onstage at a show, them touring together makes no sense at all.

cramx3

I think a DT with former members type of encore would be great for a one off show.  Touring like that may be a bit too much and probably doesn't make sense.  My general comment about the bands jamming together wasn't meant to be specific about this example.

When Rancid and Dropkick Murphys toured together (they just did this summer, but I'm talking about 3 years ago) they did a joint encore with both bands on stage doing a few covers.  It was awesome.

Alice Cooper when touring with Halestorm and Motionless in White had members of both bands on stage for the encore of Schools Out.  Also really awesome.

Generally, I think these type of things are really cool.  Also, if they aren't doing the joint encore thing the entire tour, sometimes bands do it for the last show of the tour.

DT/Fate's Warning

Setlists:
DT - A view from the top of the world in it's entirety + Barstool Warrior/Bigger Picture encore
FW - Long day good night in it's entirety + Theories of flight selection encore

I am in general not a fan of co-headlining tours, especially where DT is concerned.
