POLL: Which DT studio release do you least listen to?

When Dream And Day Unite
Images And Words
Awake
A Change of Seasons (EP)
Falling Into Infinity
Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory
Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulance
Train Of Thought
Octavarium
Systematic Chaos
Black Clouds & Silver Linings

The Astonishing

Anxiety35

Not counting Distance Over Time due to it just being released, which DT studio album do you least listen to. I included ACOS as well even though it's considered and EP.

For me, I least listen to Systematic Chaos.

Samsara

I put The Astonishing. However, to be very honest, I NEVER listen to these:

Octavarium
Systematic Chaos
The Astonishing

I RARELY listen to:

WDADU
BC&SL
ADToE
Self-Titled
My books available for purchase on Amazon:

Jason Slater: For the Sake of Supposing
Roads to Madness: The Touring History of Queensrÿche (1981-1997)

Ninjabait

Never:
WD&DU

Rarely:
Awake

Occasionally:
I&W
SC
BC&SL
FII
DT12

Often:
SfaM
8varium
ToT
ADToE
SDoIT
The Astonishing

Grappler

The Astonishing.....because it's the only Dream Theater album that I do not own.

Stadler

It's  potato-grubbing street brawl between WDADU, The Astonishing, or Train Of Thought, though the last couple weeks I've had occassion to hear some tracks from ToT and they indicate that ToT probably doesn't belong in this group.

Architeuthis

WD&DU, because I never bought it.  I just don't want to listen to DT without Labrie. I've heard live versions of most of those songs with JLB at the helm and they are good songs.  I'll probably buy it someday to complete my DT collection.

V_R11

To this day, I don't think I've heard the full WDADU and can really only recognize Ytse Jam, The Killing Hand and Afterlife. I can't deal with Dominici's voice

Max Kuehnau

All my natural instincts are begging me to stop
But somehow I carry on, heading for the top
A physical absurdity, a tremendous mental game
Helping me understand exactly who I am

NoseofNicko

The Astonishing. Love it, but it's too long to listen to often.

Only a Matter of Time is great even with Dominici.

Without question - WDADU, I can't remember the last time I listened to that record.

krands85

Yeah, WDADU here too. If I ever fancy listening to any of the songs from it, I'll usually just play LaBrie-era live versions eg. TKH at the Marquee.
Whoaaaahh, ohhh, ohhhhh. Whoaaaahh, ohhhhh, ohhhhhh. Waaah, ahhh, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaowwwwww

The way I live music is that there's an ever growing list of bands I care for, and an ever decreasing free time for music, with being an adult and stuff. Therefore I don't have much room even for continously listening to my favorite bands, especially when I heard those albums a gazillion times.

I listen to DT since 1999, so I have heard enough the old songs (if there can even be such a thing as "Enough DT") to not have really the urgent need to go back to them with all the new stuff that is out there.

So, save the occasionally nostalgia trip here and there, I don't listen to the older DT albums anymore. Heck, I'll forever call Iron Maiden my favorite band but I don't listen to their older albums anymore either, and the only time I listen to the likes of The Trooper or The Number of the Beast is when I see them live.

But for sure I don't see myself going back to When Dream and Day Unite anytime soon.

Phoenix87x

Well, for years it was black clouds and silver linings, but not its tied with The astonishing.

All other albums get played in rotation when I feel in a DT kind of mood.

Eldomm

Octavarium, with Black Clouds a close second

pg1067

I selected FII without thinking about it, but TA is probably more accurate.  Next on the list would be SC.

Snow Dog

I don't listen to DT much any more, honestly, but I'll binge on them occasionally.  There's two albums that are bottom of the heap for me though - Octavarium and BC&SL.  I'd put The Astonishing on here as well, but I haven't even made it through one full listen of that one (and I've never so much as put in disc 2), so I don't think that I've given it a fair shake.  8VM, I only put TROAE and These Walls on my phone, and I deleted Black Clouds entirely after a couple of listens.  I really should listen to them both again to see if things have changed.

The rest I have no problems with at all, other than a couple songs from SC.

Anxiety35

I hesitated with putting WDADU on the poll as many consider I&W to be the first "real" DT record. However, I put it on the poll because it was an official release and it is listed on the band's website under their discography. I figured we'd get higher numbers for WDADU.

BC&SL got my vote. I'll regularly listen to any tracks from any albums, but the last time I felt like listening to that one in full was around the time it was released. It's weird -- I don't hate any of the tracks, but it feels like a bit of a chore to go through the whole thing in one go, more so than any other DT album.

Progmetty

I don't least listen to Falling Into Infinity, I don't listen to it at all. I think I heard it about 5 or 6 times total, ever.
So that's out of the list for me, making WDADU my least listened to album, followed by Octavarium.

Cool Chris

It's not a blowout, but I'd say WDaDU. FII is second.
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

jjfumbly

For me, it used to be When Dream and Day Unite. I recently acquired the CD and put the songs on my phone. The completist within me is satisfied to hear the genesis of DT's discography. It is truly a great record. Right now, it seems FII is what is getting the least plays, but I still love the album, as I love all DT albums.

npiazza91

A Change of Seasons I've never heard all the way through for some reason.  And I never heard most of The Astonishing.  The story was really dumb imo and everyone saying how weak the album was just kind of turned me off the whole thing.  I have to give it a full listen at some point.

Cool Chris

Oh yeah, I actually forget that is technically an album. I can't swear on a polygraph I've heard it all the way through. 2 cover medleys, and one with a Dixie Dregs and a Genesis covers? Egad!
Maybe the grass is greener on the other side because you're not over there fucking it up.

I rarely listen to anything outside of the first three albums and the Mangini era.

The Astonishing. I cringe at the mere mention of it.

Dreamer

Train Of Thought: A horrible tuneless album. Tied with Black Clouds, also horrible.

Are you speaking of the song "A Change Of Seasons" or just that you haven't listened to all the covers afterwards?

POLL UPDATE

WDADU is in the lead by a lot.
The second most votes are for The Astonishing.

Not surprised that these albums have a 0...
Images And Words
Awake
Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory
Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence

BeatriceNB

SFAM, no doubt. I don't have the need to listen to that one often. My fav. songs are also in the live releases with Mangini (Spirit on Luna Park, the 4 songs encore on BTFW), which I find to be better than the studio counterparts.
TOT is a closer second, not gonna lie.

I don't think this album should count but if we are going to count then it's easily the DT album I listen to the least. I don't think I've even listened to any of the covers and I've owned the album since 2001.

Edit: Just realized it's in the poll. I didn't even notice it there. Well then that's my pick but I already voted for Falling Into Infinity
