So far The Astonishing is only one vote behind Dramatic Turn.

but it's probably just because it was the most recent album... :hat

In whatever ranking, for me the triad of ADTOE, DT12, and TA are far ahead of SC and BC&SL.

Yes.

:hifive:

Chuck in Octavarium though ( my favourite Dream Theater album ) and it gets a bit trickier.

But that wasn't a Roadrunner release.

ADTOE again...and my triad doesn't include DT12 or TA.

But if you can throw in Octavarium then I can just raise you a train of thought. Check mate ;)

Yes, because I always rank things backwards.  :\
SC alone I would have listened to more times than all of the MM era albums combined.
This.  :metal

BlobVanDam: I haven't been on this forum too long, but so far I've agreed with EVERY single post that you've made!

Octavarium is the best album of all time for me-it has everything that I love!!

Anguyen92

Honestly, the last two albums that DT has done are some of the most enjoyable stuff I have heard from them and I don't think that's the recent bias talking.  I truly mean it.  I still rate DT12 pretty highly and it got my vote.

Great musicianship, songs that really grabbed me from a lyrical perspective, the solos were strong but never overstayed their welcome.

Still going with The Astonishing... which for me is the best of all Dream Theater albums, not only the Roadrunner albums.

Ok I gotta know..  are you deaf, by chance?  :loser:

Obv jk, but I just don't get TA yet. But to me DT12 is so good... As is BCASL. But I also like A nightmare to remember.

Kotowboy

See A Nightmare To Remember is "boring" to me...

As I Am

A Dramatic Turn of Events and it really isn't close.
1. ADTOE
2. BC&SL
3. SC
4. DT
5. TA

The results disagree with you :neverusethis:

Also - is it me or are the TA haters extra vocal about disliking it and how could anyone like it ?

Yes TA is a polarizing album for sure... glad I am on the positive team

Interesting results. I voted for ADTOE. It has aged really well.

If I remove "the fat" from The Astonishing, it would rank 1st or 2nd place. As a whole, non-edited album, it would probably rank in the bottom of the RR releases.

tofee35

ADTOE for me. That album is aging very nicely too. It's in my current top 3. I like the subdued production and classic DT song structures. It was refreshingly familiar and slightly edges out IAW & Awake for me. Great album.

Be interesting to flip and make a worst roadrunner album poll.
