Hi everyone,
I am new here.. I first heard of DT about 2/3 years ago, but it was last year, when I listened to my first DT song (Illumination Theory) that I fell in love with this band. I got to see them this year in Padova and it was absolutely an amazing experience. Plus, Images and Words is my favourite album of all time.

In this thread I will describe every DT album with an adjective.

-WDADU: Classical
-IAW: Poetic
-Awake: Dark
-FII: Light
-SFAM: Mysterious
-SDOIT: Introverted
-TOT: Heavy
-8VM: Philosophical
-SC: Evil
-BC&SL: Gothic
-ADTOE: Epic
-DT12: Depressive
-TA: Dramatic

-Next album: I would personally like to hear a more dark, jazz-influenced album something like Awake, with the epic orchestral arrangements of ADTOE and BC&SL. Or an album like TOT. And you?

Nice thread. Btw, welcome to DTF. Here is my list :

-WDADU: old
-IAW: landmarkish (yes, I invent adjectives)
-Awake: brooding
-FII: destabilizing
-SFAM: metropolisian (I said I invented adjectives, goddammit)

-TOT: in-the-face
-8VM: half-good
-SC: clinical
-BC&SL: long
-ADTOE: returntoformish
-DT12: badly produced
-TA: cinematic

As for the next album, I expect nothing really. That prevents me from being disappointed.

I have been a DT fan since 1992 and still haven't bought or listened to WDADU. I've seen some of the live versions on DVD of the songs with JLB singing. I just haven't really cared to buy it for some reason. Maybe because of the absence of JLB..   Other than that, I own their entire discography.
So technically I can't put an adjective to "all" of their albums.

This is a very interesting thread!

I think you nailed it here!. At first, I didn't understand why you said depressive with DT12, since I like the album a lot and the music doesn't sound depressing at all  ??? I do care much more about the music than the lyrics, so that was my first impression.

However, after thinking about the lyrics and themes a bit more, I see why you put it that way. TEI, for example, talks about not being able to scape the voices of regret and pain inside you, TLG is about someone so self-centered that only cares about himself, BTV about someone desperately asking for help.

Never thought of these themes before  :o

This is mine:

-WDADU: Explorative
-IAW: Melodic
-Awake: Atmospheric
-FII: Different
-SFAM: Perfect
-SDOIT: Experimental
-TOT: Pointless
-8VM: Weird
-SC: Technical
-BC&SL: Aimless
-ADTOE: Uplifting
-DT12: Focused
-TA: Ambitious

Architeuthis

IAW: Monumental
Awake: Solidifying
ACOS: Epic
FII: Risky
SFAM: Refreshing
SDOIT: Diverse
TOT: Virtuostic
8VM: Clever
SC: Dark.  but in a good way
BCSL: Stormy
ADTOE: Promising
DT12: Uplifting
TA: I admit I'm intrigued
