Personally it's a big tie with Learning to Live, Trial of Tears, and Breaking All Illusions.
The lyrics are all deep, but I'm going to have to give this to Trial of Tears for it's really cool atmosphere.

Wow, it's hard! I voted "Surrender To Reason", but the first two options are also among my favourites (I just realized I don't think I've done a Top 10 DT songs or whatever, and I do a lot of lists, like you said you do).

Easy pick for me, with Trial of Tears.

IDontNotDoThings

BAI was written by Petrucci, not Myung iirc.

I believe it has a co-credit, with Petrucci helping Myung, but in essence it's a Myung lyric.

Train of Naught

Well BAI is my favorite DT song so this is no contest at all. With the exception of LTL, I don't think any of these are even in my top 30-35 of DT songs.

ToT
I'm with you. I love all of thise (except for one from Majesty demos) but ToT is my favorite song.

My favorite DT song is Learning to Live, so there you go.

Of this list, March of the Tyrant is fairly bad, and Surrender to Reason is OK.  The rest are amazing.

Learning To Live and Trial of Tears are close, but I give the edge to the former.  Surrender To Reason is probably my #3.  I don't care for the lyrics on Breaking All Illusions at all.  But the music is so good that that alone carries the song.

A very difficult choice between Learning to Live and Trail of Tears, I chose the latter 'cause it gives poetic voice to an everyday's man doing something so uneventful like walking through New York while it rains.

Ok, the song is more than that, but still, you would think something about "d'uh it's raining" would be so boring, and instead it's so captivating and immersive.

"Through nature inflexible grace, Im learning to live"

If I had to tattoo a song lyrics on myself it would be that sentence. Its very inspiring imo.

Learning to live

All of them are fantastic, though, besides Surrender to reason which is just OK. I haven't heard the one from Majesty demos, to be honest.

I'll have to agree with this. The climax of the song really captures the unique and special atmosphere of walking through a city when it's raining, which is something that I've done many times and that is something that I usually enjoy. And, yeah, I also agree that JM's brilliance in this case is that he makes something so seemingly uneventful become so emotional and important (though JP/MP/KS/JLB also help essentially with the emotional crescendo at the end of the song, of course).

I voted STR, but honestly it's really hardto pick one.

Fatal Tragedy..

Just ahead of BAI and StR.. The rest is very mediocre, although MotT has its parts..
