Six Degrees.

People will probably stop reading now and head off to the shed to get their pitchforks!   Let me explain, I've enjoyed all the DT albums - there isn't a bad album among them.   However there has to be a least favourite and here we are.
Prepare to die.

Hi again guys.

I've nearly completed my DT journey.  In a few days time it's my Birthday (40, gulp) and I'll finally be getting my hands on The Astonishing.  Anyway in the past month I've brought all the albums between Image & Words and DT12 and it's been great, so many great songs, I haven't listened to any other band!  So as each album has had at least 5 plays now I thought I'd try to do a tentative list....

I actually enjoyed reading through your perspectives, very interesting as a lot of your dislikes represent some of my favourite songs from DT, eg I love The Great Debate and the rest of the the first 6D disc. Honor Thy Father is my favouite part of TOT and Outcry has some of my favourite parts of ADTOE. But I also agree with a lot of what you've said. Would be interesting to hear your take on The Astonishing or even the first album when you finally hear them. ;)

I love honor thy father as well being one of the strongest songs on TOT. Thought I was the only one enjoying it. Outcry is a great song as well. TGD not so much though.

Train of Naught

Six Degrees in last place and A Dramatic Turn of Events? 425, come see this!

Spending some more time with the albums i'm seeing the error of my ways with Six Degrees - it's moving up my list!  The Glass Prison and Blind Faith clicked for me recently, I'm still not digging The Great Debate though!!
As for The Astonishing I finally got to listen to it a few days ago, I haven't spent as much time with it yet due to a busy weekend, but my early impressions (which can change a lot) are it'd be mid to lower tier for me, the early standout tracks are When Your Time Has Come, Chosen & Moment of Betrayal.   The downside would be to much filler and repetition.

A revived list would look something like this...

12 Falling Into Infinity.
11 Awake.
10 Systematic Chaos.
9 The Astonishing.
8 Dream Theater.
7 Six Degrees.
6 Image and Words.
5 Train of Thought.
4 Black Clouds & Silver Linings.
3 Metropolis Pt.2
2 Octavarium.
1 A Dramatic Turn of Events.
