Astonishing spoilers below...

So we all know in The Astonishing that Faythe finds her father's old "digital music player" which I will call the ipod.  There are thousands of songs on this.  What songs do you think Lord Nafaryus (and his father) and Faythe have been listening to all these years?

My immediate thought was "Brave New World" from Iron Maiden

Progmetty

I was thinking about that earlier haha, let's see:
Dream Theater's Discography, Liquid Tension Experiment albums, JP and Rudess Evening With album and of course the album that inspired her the most: Suspended Animation.

Kotowboy

1. 2112 by Rush

2. Footloose OST

3. Jesus Christ Superstar

This could have actually be a nice What If scenario... music can be stored and digitalized, how many of it will be around and what will be lost to the masses in the coming centuries? modern music is only decades old, half of the Beatles are still alive, but in 300 or 500 years, how much the importance of the "founding fathers" will still be present? how will heavy metal evolve and will people know that Iron Maiden and Metallica sold out stadiums? whatever rocker will come out of the US east coast, someone will say "450 years ago there was this Bruce Springsteen dude that did the same things"?

The examples could be endless... with platforms like Spotify evolving and possibly existing "forever", will people be interested in checking out David Bowie and Queen half a millennium from now?

Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, obviously.

Dream Theater's Discography

Including The Astonishing.

She knew to show up to Heaven's Cove early so that Daryus would stab her instead of Gabriel!

It's all the soundtracks to the Final Fantasy games and Nefaryus would listen to these as he was conquering lands.

If it was Miley's older songs, then it would be fine.

Serious though, I really wanted it to be a plot point that the iPod would have Dream Theater music (among other stuff), and that Faythe favored them the most and they were her inspiration. It's an egotistical, narcissist, but also (in my opinion) brilliant plot twist that JP could include somewhere in Act 2 or the website.

But anyways, if we're being both serious and realistic, I assume they listened to whatever you can think of that sounds like "When Your Time Has Come"  - it should be a major point that Faythe was even more touched by Gabriel's performance because it made her iPod come alive. Also, if the music that plays in the background of each character's lines also represents its preferences (in addition to its personality), Nafaryus clearly listens to Queen or Muse.

What's next, Faythe complains to Nafaryus about the production of the drums after Mangini joined the band?  She probably loves Kevin Moore too.  :lol
