Serious though, I really wanted it to be a plot point that the iPod would have Dream Theater music (among other stuff), and that Faythe favored them the most and they were her inspiration. It's an egotistical, narcissist, but also (in my opinion) brilliant plot twist that JP could include somewhere in Act 2 or the website.

What's next, Faythe complains to Nafaryus about the production of the drums after Mangini joined the band?  She probably loves Kevin Moore too. 

Which would explain why she likes Gabriel so much. Gabriel bears a striking resemblance to 1992 Kevin Moore.

How do you know it's a music player from today? Even the date when music disappears is in our future, so for all we know it could be solar powered, kinetic powered, powered by a smug sense of musical superiority, who knows? Or maybe it had the charging cable with it. I assume electricity is still standard.
